BRAND DESIGN / STRATEGIC POSITIONWe immerse ourselves in your business - through market research, brand audits, competitor surveys and visioning charettes - to help assess and define the value of a property. While this focuses on the bricks and mortar issues of technical evaluations, it also concerns the “white space” in the market and how to better position the asset to entice new guests, foster brand loyalty or attract outside investors.

MASS ROLL-OUT / SITE PLANNINGThe value of our services stems from the combination of an excellent knowledge of

regulations, an innovating method oriented towards the needs of the client and the multidisciplinary integration of the different aspects of a project.

Page 22: Abc presentation

DESIGN+ARCHITECTURE / THE BUILT ENVIRONMENTUsing architecture, interior architecture and design, and design guidelines, we shape a built envi-ronment that defines an enriched guest experience, embodies and reinforces your brand´s cha-

racter, creating an experiential atmosphere that resonates with a message of deeper significance.

IMPROVED OPERATIONS Because we understand the operational issues of the retail and f&b business, not to mention the importance of the overall guest experience, we know how to develop plans that script an overarching vision as well as strengthen operations. Critical in restaurants, but no less important in the complex, multilayered urban retailing, all great developments begin with a great site plan.

Chiara Caberlon graduated in architecture at Milan Polytechnic. From 1997 to 2001 she wor-ked as an interior designer for many fashion companies and international banks.Ermanno Caroppi graduated in architecture at the Milan Polytechnic in 1998. After comple-ting a design materials workshop at Brunel University in London , he started working as an in-dustrial designer for Fratelli Guzzini: designing household accessories, stands for exbitions and showrooms. In 2004 the CaberlonCaroppi Hospitality Design studio was founded with the aim of uniting and sharing diverse experiences to create new concepts in hospitality not only directed towards the tourist and businessman but also towards the city and its inhabitants. From 2005 architects Sara Del Ponte, Annalisa Antinori, Michele Arndt, Silvia Valori and Manuele D’Angelo joined the group. The studio carries out consultancy for hotel management companies, service companies Real estate development companies, and private clients. The studio has worked on projects for a number of prestigious international names (hotels chains and resorts) located in the most important italian cities: Marriot in Venice; Holiday Inn in Rome, Milan, Turin, Syracuse (Sicily); Palazzo Sitano in Palermo; Borgo di Fiuzzi Resort and SPA in Calabria; Ostuni Rosa Marina Re-sort in Puglia and Enjoy Garda Hotel in Peschiera del Garda. The studio is currently working on two Boutique Hotel in Genèva, an Hilton Garden Inn in Pistoia, the Terme of Galzignano and one five stars hotel in Via del Corso in Rome. By now various design products inspired by the hotel project have been created for the catalogues of prestigious Italian brands. In 2006 they participated at the exhibition BDCI “Brands & Designers China Iniziative”at the fair of China in Shenzen with the most important italian designers. In 2009 they participated at the exhibition CDIF “China International Design & Art Fair” at the fair of China in Beijing. In 2010 Teamwork and Hospitality Project began giving workshops for hoteliers at principal Italian locations under the brand name Hotel Innovation Lab. In 2010 and 2012 the studio was invited as ambassadors of Italian Design to Equip’hotel in Paris with the projects Room 2.0 and then Room under the Moon- Naturally Resort. Since 2007 the architects have been teaching Interior Hotel Design at the Poliarte in Ancona. The studio has held various seminars at the Domus Academy and the Polytechnic of Milan, as well as Tsinguah University of Peking. The studio’s projects have been published in numerous magazines and trade publications. In the 2011 head offices just opened in Beijing.

Profitable investment

On the strength of over 70 projects for interna-tional and independent brand hotels (Inter-Continental, Marriot, Nh Hotel, Design Hotel, Charme&relax, Resort, etc.) and head offices just opened in Peking, extends our activity from feasibility studies to master plans, from cost control to concept design, from architecture to interior design through to coordinated ima-ge design: from the logo to the uniform. The latest projects experiment with new hospi-tality concepts: a new technological, practical and fast 3 star hotel, a Loft Hotel in Milan and a cohousing in Fermo in the Marches Region. The latter is a kind of village where private spaces and common areas co-exist, such as the gym, club house, children’s playground-garden and equipped areas.

Our projects focus special attention on interior design and this leads us to emphasise the de-tails, atmospheres and emotions generated by

scenarios with which guests must interact. This approach is certainly more orientated towards a figurative artistic trend without, however, overlooking the engineering role that a hos-pitality consultant must play. Let me explain better: our studio over the last five years has specialised in the design of hospitality facili-ties - hotels, resorts and spas are just some of the kinds of structure we deal with every day. This means that our role must not only focus on the interior but we must also provide our client with complete support: we must be able to keep within the budget, propose feasible and functional solutions and seek to create a pro-duct that ensures a profitable investment. In as much, the engineering aspect must always be borne in mind. Making a mistake in one ba-throom in a hotel project may also mean repli-cating the same error in 400. Experience, spe-cialisation and professionalism are the essential ingredients for good work.

WHAT WE CAN DO FOR YOUHOSPITALITY

ArchitectureRenovation, Masterplan, Layout, Lands-cape Design.

We have a multidisciplinary team, who deal with major international brands and give great attention to the budgets and projects established by clients and project managers. The approved budget is constantly checked and updated during the planning phase. Our wide knowledge of various sources and markets allow us to offer our client the best price for quality.

The various specialists and staff at our studio are able to relocate overseas for projects. This normally happens during the planning stages, during the various construction phases, and also during the fitting of interiors.

Our approach during a project is one of symbiosis: we always try to make different styles, histories and atmospheres work together within the spirit of the place. It is crucial to make reference to the local traditions of a place so that, for example, a business traveler knows they are in Rome rather than New York City.

Our work focuses on making an architectural epoch, the character of a place, a moment in time, an event, all come to life. Recreating a period is a fascinating and stimulating challenge, especially when considered through the eyes of the client. We like to give our partners and their clients the role of participant rather than viewer. Hotels, restaurants, shops, showrooms, stands and cinemas are just some of the transitory places that we frequent everyday and which don’t always leave any sort of impression or memory. Our projects deal with these kinds of spaces, with our research concentrating on atmosphere, lighting, materials and colors. Our work is finished once the participant is able to perceive the space in the way we’ve created it and to interact with it in the moment of passing through it. We want our hotels to tell stories.

ALL SEASONSOne Hotel for

On Lake Garda we created Enjoy, a hotel that welcomes you all year round.

Hospitality

Within the vacation set-ting of Lake Garda, a short walk from Gardaland and near the entrance to the motorway, this hotel is also perfect for cycling holidays. Developed with precise marketing concepts, the design of Enjoy Garda Ho-tel, immediately reveals its year round nature. The dark exterior of winter, the whi-tewashed panels of sum-mer, the natural wood of autumn and the light green touches of spring all com-bine to create an atmos-phere that is welcoming to families, business travelers and sports enthusiasts all year round.

A wonderful window on Dino’s Island, a place which smell of sea and nature, traditions and villa-ges, towers, castles, to link ancient tradition and high level resort comforts.

Hospitality

In Calabria, backing on to the sea, the Fiuzzi village was born. A village with Mediterranean flavour with some arabesque combinations, signs of a past history and enduring influences. The colours and the materials are local, revamped. The design alternates between fragments of history and modern tastes. The project has been developed in collaboration with the architect Franco Caputo.

In the elegant spa, wood, stone and lighting work together with water and sunlight in order to rejuvenate the body and spirit. Touches of color and natural elements, both contemporary and functional, give emotion and atmosphere to the guest who stays long enough to fully enjoy it.

THE

Hospitality

The Ora Hotels City project was born in the Bresso airport zone. Its position identifies the hotel as a business hotel with services and activities adapted to this type of clientele. The interior design has been planned with particular attention to the use of colours, materials, furnishings, and lighting in a way to present a strong, contemporary image. The contrast of colors between red and gloss white crayon and the large windows emphasize the interiors.

The huge hangars and the runway in front of the hotel take you far back in time to the days of early aircraft, to riveted sheet metal and pilots in their classic leather caps and goggles. In order to evoke the world of aviation we took as natural an approach as possible in the creation of the communal spaces, so that the guest may continue their travels.

THE CLASSYSIDE

OF INDUSTRYThe reconstruction of an old cotton mill from 1904 has kept the original retro atmosphere and

has juxtaposed it with elegant and contemporary style.

Hospitality

The historic Muggiani Cotton Mill (later the Union Manufacturers) was built in 1904 and rebuilt at the end of the 1990’s. The architecture, which characterizes the construction, is symbolic of Industry at the beginning of the 20th Century, and for this reason the main building, which was once used to make textiles, has been rebuilt preserving all the original industrial elements of interest. In the logic of industrial archaeology, the inspiration of Art Deco design is a natural consequence of the desire to give value to this building in its historical and architectonic context and to recreate its own particular atmosphere. This project is the result of a detailed interpretation of the architecture, the place and its history. It is the marriage between the spirit of the place and modernity, between design and technology.

ARTISTIC STREAKTHE

With its clean minimalist design, this project relies on light to give character and identity to the place.

Hospitality

In an area of Milan with strong artistic movement, the Watt13 project was born. The restructure presented various difficulties, like integration of the new rooms within the existing structure. The planning approach bore this aspect in mind, with solutions combining strong technological content supported by a minimalistic and aggressive design, and through exploiting small structural and furnishing tricks in order “to capture the light”. The hall, with a surface area of over 700 m2, has been rendered luminous and opens onto the outside through a great skylight, an atrium and many large windows; moreover it has been divided into several areas without the intervention of walls or rigid elements. The light, both natural and artificial, becomes the key element for giving identity to the place.

Hospitality

The Ostuni Rosa Marina Resort is situated on the beautiful Apulian coast , just few kilometers from Ostuni, inside the international resort “Rosa Marina”. It’s a modern and elegant accomodation facility deep inside the colours and the parfumes of the Mediterranean maquis, sorrounded by huge palms and age-old olive trees. The architectural structure goes back to the local traditional “masseria”, with the classical courtyard, the local materials and the typical whitewash. The rooms are designed according to the Apulian tradition, with a contemporary point of view.In line with Puglia’s tradition, the building evokes the atmosphere of hot summer nights and the sounds of the sea, which are to be enjoyed in cool, convivial spaces of white wood, rough textiles and warm light.

T H E N E WCLASSIC

The classical style of a historic palazzo is transformed creating a hotel with its own distinctive character.

Hospitality

This historic palazzo is in the center of Palermo with frescoed ceilings and an18th century colonnade with a new glass structure. The exquisite Italian flavor is combined with carefully chosen materials that are fitting to the elegant and simple interiors. Together they serve to highlight the historic setting and to allow the guests to fully enjoy the architecture. There is nothing standardized about this design. The recovered and splendidly restored ceilings, the dark floors contrasting with warmly colored textiles and the discreet interiors together allow guests at the Palazzo Sitano to relive the ancient majesty of Southern Italy.

Velvet TouchUnique sensations provide moments of sheer relaxation thanks to luxurious materials, textures

and play of light.

Hospitality

Clearly with business travelers in mind, but with an attention to detail you’d find in a leisure hotel, the Crowne Plaza St. Peter’s includes a restaurant, meeting room, mini-gym, spa and outdoor pool, and offers a complete service for both business and pleasure. The concept behind the interiors is based on a dialogue between efficiency and aesthetic wellness.

The communal area gives the idea of “elegant business”, where fully equipped workspaces don’t try to disguise their function and convenience, but include choices of materials and design that favor a healthy working environment.

With the transformation of the tra-ditional mall and the emergence of more lifestyle-oriented shopping environments, demographics have remained integral. La-tely, however, psychographics have grown in importance , creating a greater nee d for the retail industry to pay attention to shop-per preferences . ABC covers a very broad spectrum in the field of retail design. Beyond the physical layout of the store, we see this as a unique opportunity to create both a gathering place and a meanin-gful interaction between a brand and its clien-tele where the product, the service and values form the core of the experience.

Development andcontinuance of professionals

What Abc offers its employees• A good working environment• Professional acknowledgement• Development of talent• The pride of belonging to a leading organization• Quality training• Clear and concise communication• Opportunities for professional development• Responsibility and involvement

Professionals are offered the know-how, capacities and skills necessary to perform their functions according to criteria of excellence through training programs. This redounds to a gua-rantee of quality in the projects executed for our clients. All em-ployees avail of tools for self-evaluation and training, enablingthem to know the levels of demand expected by the orga-nization and how they can most optimally perform the jobs assigned to them.

Internal Talent Search In accordance with criteria related to technical know-how, academic training and the evaluation of competence through the performance rating done by supervisors, the de-partments select a group of persons each year to take part in internal talent search programs on different levels: the techni-cal level and management. These programs seek out persons with a complete profile in three dimensions: leadership among colleagues, the capacity for development, and in-depth te-chnical knowledge.

“Our success is based on that all our processes are directed to give the best service to the client”

Access to Know-how

Teamwork and the dissemination of know-how in the organization are two of the fundamental tools for promoting apprenticeship and, in the long run, sharing knowledge within the com-pany. For this reason, working environments ba-sed on the leading management models and the latest technologies are continually being developed, so as to permit swift exchange and direct access to company know-how.

In Abc we are aware that our growth as a com-pany requires the professional growth of our pro-fessionals. Abc has created a new training stra-tegy with mediumterm objectives, composed of specific training modules for each professional profile. The specific training areas are agreed upon and are always within the scope of the pro-fessional growth profile of each employee, thus promoting motivation and the possibilities of inter-nal growth.

The development of differentiated solutions and services of high added value for our clients is the basis of our eco-nomic sustainability. However, it is also the key to a sustai-nable social and environmental management of ABC in a context that is increasingly becoming more complex and competitive, and where the relationships with the different markets with which we work are demanding new forms of thinking, acting and executing.

Thus we firmly believe that our solutions and services are an excellent tool for contributing to development, not only for the profit of our clients, but also in a broader sense, throug-hout society and the communities in which we are present. Aware of the fact that – even though we do not belong to a highly contaminating sector – environmental mana-gement in Abc is a field that is fundamental for our sustai-nability, we have continued to be active in giving impulse to environmental responsibility throughout our entire value chain.

Page 86: Abc presentation

About Us

We have also encouraged good environmental behavior amongst our suppliers, establishing ba-sic requirements for application in this area. The economic sustainability of the company – that is, its growth and profit – is basic to the development of our company and guarantees the creation of wealth on which we can create shared value.

We consider that effectiveness in the financial management of the company and transparency and faithfulness in accounting for our economic performance are elements that are fundamental for our reputation and our brand.

Although the area of activity that our company works in is not considered as highly contamina-ting, we believe that our processes and systems must be managed in such a way that it exerts the least environmental impact possible. We are committed to improving this management, and to reducing our consumption of energy and raw materials.
