For the love of Trees (ABC360 Tree Planting Experience)

By: FMThe most challenging and at some point interesting experience was a tree planting exercise in celebration of the Philippines Arbor Day which was held 1stof July 2016.

During this day, we started out with some training on how to plant trees, the advantage of planting of trees until they were ready enough maybe after two years. The training part was so interesting and we were so eager to go out into the field and plant our own trees.

We set out at around nine o’clock in the morning to South Drive for the event; everyone carried their tools such as fork, spade and other tools. The journey to the place was fun and interesting. When we reached the exact place, the weather was hot and the sun was scorching but we had carried enough water to drink… also for the trees and so I thought everything was going to be alright.

As we started digging the holes, we kept in mind that they that were supposed to be wide and not too deep because we were expected to plant 150 pine seedlings.

After the digging of the holes, the seedlings were brought by CEPMO (CITY Environment and Parks Management Office), the organization that facilitated our activity. When we finished planting, there were activities that were prepared by our facilitators.

After eating our packed lunch and had some little rest. We had several activities afterwards and was set to go back to our facility around one o’clock in the afternoon.

We were all tired with the activity that we had. However this is the most fulfilling experience so far. Being an aid to the environment is an experience that we can humbly share to the people who are also aiming to help and be part of something that is beneficial for Mother Earth and the future of the world.
