Hospice Clinical Orientation (HCO) May, 2016

About Hospice Clinical Orientation:

The Hospice Clinical Orientation (HCO) Program is provided for new hospice clinical employees to give them the knowledge and tools needed to provide the highest level of quality care and service to patients, their families and caregivers. A new hospice clinician will complete the overall Hospice Clinical Orientation in a time span that best suits the new employee.

The HCO program is designed in a phased approach. In this manner, the new Hospice clinician will reach milestones that enable them to become proficient in certain areas quickly. Hospice clinicians must reach proficiency in their current week before moving forward to the next phase.

The Virtual Classroom: The Virtual Classroom is open 10 minutes prior to start time.

o By logging in early, there is time to contact the Help Desk (Kindred – 1-800-836-0376, Gentiva 1-800-944-4357) or assistance with technical difficulties.

o Prior to calling the Help Desk have the following information available: * Computer’s Asset Tag # * Network ID or User Name * Description of problem * Course Number/Title

Enrollment in Virtual sessions should occur in the Learning Management System (LMS) 24 hours prior to event’s start time.

Attendees should dial into both audio & virtual classroom 5-10 minutes prior to start time. (Both Audio/Virtual components required.) o Participant Codes are unique to the event and can be found in the LMS under the event’s + More Properties.

Click on Course Title

Click Start to launch Virtual Class (opens ADOBE® CONNECT™)

Click Enter as a Guest > Name (type in your full First and Last Name)

Click Enter Room

Dial into the Audio Conference Line o 913-748-0123 (or as directed in Course Properties) o Place phone on MUTE (dial *6 on keypad to MUTE / UNMUTE call) o Do NOT place the call on HOLD o Read information and instructions found in the classroom o Sign the Roster (Name, Role/Title, and Program Location) o Print optional handouts as necessary o Answer any Poll Questions
