With a firm belief that quality education only can lay a strong foundation for bringing about economic and social changes to the lives of millions, the Sangham went about establishing educational institutions, starting with K.S. Polytechnic in 1992. Enthused with this success of its foray into technical education, the Sangham then started the K.S Institute of Technology (KSIT), its first Engineering College in the year 1999. In the following years both these institutions have carved for themselves an enviable niche through academic excellence achieved in a very short span of time. Following the success of KSIT, the Sangham ventured onwards to start yet another technical institution, oriented towards advanced studies and research, and thus, the K.S Group of Institutions (KSGI) was born in 2010. KSGI was renamed as K.S.School of Engineering & Management in 2011. From the very inception of the college in 2010, the dept. of Mechanical Engineering is unswerving in nurturing students to be renowned mechanical engineers selflessly serving our Nation. To meet mounting demands of the market, the Dept. instigated PG programme (M.Tech) in “Engineering Analysis and Design” in the year 2012. The department has state-of-the-art laboratories besides knowledgeable, experienced, and dedicated faculties. The students are inculcated with fundamental and technical knowledge to enable them to translate the theoretical knowledge into practical applications. Conferences, workshops and seminars are organized periodically which helps both the staff and students to update themselves with industry’s latest happenings. The Department has also proved its potential by guiding students in projects sponsored by Institution of Engineers.

Extra-curricular activities

To obtain a firsthand experience in carrying out an experimental modal test of a structure, a proposal titled “Development of Vibration Analysis Test Rig for Automotive Vehicles” was presented. The objectives were to:1. Establish an instrumented test rig for conducting modal test on automotive chassis.

2. Conduct modal test on the automotive chassis and acquire response of the chassis.

3. Determine the following modal parametersw Natural Frequenciesw Mode Shapesw Damping CharacteristicsThis proposal was approved by

The Institution of Engineers, Bangalore and a grant of Rs.50, 000 was sanctioned for the project.

Paper presentation: Students have attended and presented papers in various national and international conferences.

Also students have represented our college in various competitions viz., quiz, model exhibition, etc. conducted by various other institutes and organizations.
