1.1hIsTORy Of savIlls

Savillswassetupin1855andobtainedafulllistingontheLondonStockExchangeinJune1988andbecameSavillsplc.In1991,twomainsubsidiarieswereincorporated,namelySavillsLandandPropertyLimitedandSavillsCommercialLimited.

InSeptember1998,SavillsacquiredamajorityshareholdingintheSpanish,GermanandFrenchcompaniestradingasWeatherallGreen&Smith.InJune2000,SavillsplcmovedintotheFTSE250LondonStockExchangelisting.

During2006,wecontinuedtogrowourrangeofservicesthroughthehiringofindividualsandacquisitionofbusinessesintheUK,EuropeandAsiaPacific.Ofparticularimportancewastheacquisitionofa55%holdinginKoreaAssetAdvisorsandBHPKorea,whichreinforcesourpositioninthisregion.WealsoacquiredHamiltonOsborneKinginIrelandwhichwaslaterrebrandedasSavillsHamiltonOsborneKing,openinganewmarkettoSavillsaswellasreinforcinglinkswithIrishinvestors.WealsoacquiredHepherDixon,aspecialistplanningandregenerationpractice(nowSavillsHepherDixon).

In2007,SavillspurchasedGranite,arealestateinvestmentbankingfirmbasedNewYorkandcreatedSavillsGranite.TheacquisitionwasinlinewithoneofthekeyprioritiesofSavills’strategytoestablishacrediblebusinessintheUS.
