About the PERG

The Professional Education & Resource Guide is an easy reference for continuing education opportunities for massage therapists and bodyworkers.

The PERG offers a variety of ways to select courses that meet your continuing education needs. Browse the pages of advertisements to discover opportunities to enhance your skills and explore new and exciting theories and approaches. Or look up the dates you are available to take classes in the index at the back of the guide and choose from among those listings.

The South Carolina Edition of the PERG is mailed free of charge to licensed massage therapists and bodyworkers, so keep your address up to date with your state massage board to ensure you receive each and every copy.

The Professional Education & Resource Guide is published twice per year in North Carolina and South Carolina. It is also published less frequently in Georgia and Tennessee.

At www.PERG-CEMassage.com you can view all the current editions of the PERG in fl ip-book form, as well as a chronological list of advertised classes with links to webpage descriptions and email contact information.

Dear Colleagues,

Can you believe the PERG is celebrating its 10th anniversary this issue! The very fi rst PERG showed up in Massage Therapists’ and Bodyworkers’ mailboxes January 2006 in North Carolina.

The PERG was conceived when, as a newly independent CE Provider, I sat at my desk staring at a foot high pile of fl yers, post cards and brochures, all advertising continuing education offered by CE Providers. Dismayed, I realized buried in that pile somewhere was my very own brochure advertising my CE classes! Then I had the depressing thought - how was I going to fi nd CE classes to meet my own license renewal requirements in that pile? And the idea for the PERG was born.

The fi rst person to come on board with the PERG was David Kilian of Killer Creative Group, LLC. Dave created the PERG logo and has beautifully crafted the PERG book and ads design since the very fi rst issue. CE Providers that participated in that fi rst edition and can be found in this current edition include Claire Miller, Medical Arts School, Arlene and Larry Green of the US Kinesiology Training Institute, and the Center for Massage Therapy CE. In subsequent early editions Anita Shannon, John Morgan, Kristie Hogan, Cindy Loving, Robert Wooton, Miller-Motte College, and the Healing Arts & Massage School all became regular advertisers in the PERG. And with each issue new CE Providers chose to join the list of regular advertisers.

In Fall 2008 the PERG published the fi rst South Carolina Edition. In Fall 2009 the Georgia and Tennessee Editions began to be published. If you would enjoy perusing some of the older editions of the PERG, they are all available for viewing and download in the archives section of PERG-CEMassage.com.

Over the years I have had many heart-warming emails, notes and phone calls from massage therapists telling me how much they value the PERG. Here is just one example…

“I want to take this opportunity to thank you for what you do — I can’t tell you how many times every year in practice I was grateful for your publication, to have so much information in a single (reliable!) source for planning purposes, and to be able to know what listings were accredited for continuing education credits in the state where I was licensed.

The SC PERG was my bible! I kept each edition until I received the next one, and brought it to meet with other practitioners so we could talk about courses we might elect to take, when, where, how, etc.. It was a little bit like how the old Sears catalog was described as “The Wish Book”, do you remember?

Thank you for the wonderful thing that you do, that is such a remarkable service for those of us in a massage therapy practice.”

With gratitude for the opportunity to serve,

Nancy Toner Weinberger, Publisher
