SYNOPSIS (THIS OUTLINES THE FLOW OF THE PARTY EVENTS). Every New Orleans native knows that Fat Tuesday’s Pub on Bourbon Street holds the premiere Mardi Gras celebration during Carnival Season. Fat Tuesday’s Pub is always the place to be -
where the city’s finest flock to be part of their electrifying bashes! This year was no different as the guests purchased their VIP tickets at least 6 months in advance
and arrived on the scene in their most festive Mardi Gras attire. They mingled about while enjoying yummy appetizers and Mardi Gras trivia before engaging in spirited games such as the Fat Tuesday’s Pub Rap Contest, So You Think You Can Dance Challenge, the Mardi Gras Mask Challenge and the What Mardi Gras Thing Am I game. It quickly became apparent that some
guests clashed due to sordid pasts but the Pub Management got everything back on track with a delectable dinner (dinner is optional). Everyone dined while participating in the Fantastic Movie Challenge until - to everyone’s horror – a dead body was discovered! One of the guests had been murdered by a cold-blooded, callous killer and the murderer was still among them! The guests rallied together to figure out whodunit before the media arrived turned the murder case into a public nightmare... and before the killer could strike again. Everyone was a suspect as they
thoroughly interrogated one other and filtered through clues and a preliminary forensic report created by a guest who happened to be a member of the New Orleans S.W.A.T. team. Once
everyone had their best guess of whodunit – they took turns accusing each other over a wonderful dessert and then, the murderer confessed! After an exhilarating escape attempt, the guests
topped off the celebration with the How Do You Do, I Know You game and a classic challenge of Mardi Gras Charades. Overall it was a night that nobody will ever forget!

Optional Female

BEAUREGARD FAUCHE
Opera Singer, New Orleans
Opera House
Optional Male
The egotistical Beauregard Fauche is the star Opera Singer at the New Orleans Opera House. Beauregard loves to chat

person in there somewhere.
Black and white tuxedo (or suit) or a
traditional Opera stage costume.
MAGNOLIA THIBODEAUX
Hostess, Café Beignet
Optional Female
If you dine at the Café Beignet during Magnolia Thibodeaux’s shift – you better not be in a hurry! Magnolia’s in no rush to do
anything while she’s at work and simply dislikes her job because of her preference to be around animals over people.
Even worse, if her co-workers make the mistake of confiding in her – it will be only seconds before their secret is out.
Magnolia has absolutely no conscience.
Casual hostess/waitress
attire.
ALPHONSE DUGAS
Blackjack Dealer, Harrold’s Casino
Optional Male
*This character can be expanded with Alphonse’s
friends and fellow card dealers.
Alphonse Dugas is the lively blackjack dealer from Harrold’s Casino in New Orleans. Only half of what comes out of his
mouth is the truth and he even lies when the truth is better! His closest friends also always grumble about how he is an
incessant cheater at board games. So if he is that deceitful with his best pals…who knows what goes on at the Blackjack table! Rumor also has it that Alphonse has a bad gambling habit and has accrued a massive debt with bookies in town. This might be why he is never seen without his buddies from the Casino.
Shirt and tie with a dealer visor.
Optional nametag as a prop.
BELLE ARCENAUX
Housewife and Nosy Neighbor
Optional Female
*This character can be expanded to Belle’s friends
from the neighborhood.
Belle Arcenaux is the catty urbanite housewife that knows absolutely everyone’s business in the neighborhood. A rich
source of the latest gossip, Belle keeps the drama going among the wives of the French Quarter. The saying ‘keep your
enemies close’ explains why Belle has a flock of her ‘friends’ with her at all time. They all know that if they’re with Belle –
they won’t be the subject of any malicious tittle-tattle!
House dress, rollers in hair (optional but
funny) and a notepad as an optional prop.
A word about expandable characters: The characters that you assign to play the expanded players on either
Alphonse or Belle’s team will have duplicate materials (i.e. clue cards) of their leader (Alphonse or Belle) and will play as a group with their leader as a team throughout the game. You can put as many duplicate characters on either of these teams that you need. These characters are ideal for players that do not want a huge role in the
game, but still want to play. Or, if you have tentative guests that might not show up to your party, you can assign them to these roles and it will not affect your game in any way if they do not come to you party.

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE HOST Get ready for a smashing party with your purchase of the BUMPED OFF ON BOURBON STREET game from mymysteryparty.com! This party is an entertaining and comical mystery where the players act the roles of hilarious Mardi Gras themed personalities while sleuthing the intriguing story line. This is an excellent choice for your next get together during Mardi Gras season! The party pack (this document) needs to be printed in advance of the party. Cut out the clues and slip them into envelopes labeled with the appropriate round and character for each round of the party. It is optimal to choose different colored envelopes for each round and choose purple, gold and green envelopes for an ultra-Mardi Gras theme! My Mystery Party has colored envelopes for sale in the Mystery Props section of the My Mystery Party website. If you do not want to know the solution, do not view the final round of clues. For a complete surprise, you can elect the pre-printed ‘party ready party pack’ upgrade option from the mymysteryparty.com site and we will send you the clues in sealed envelopes –‘ready to go’ (this is an additional charge but is the way to go). The game is organized into three rounds. The game rounds are designed as follows: PRE-GAME STARTER: these pre-game starters are to be delivered to each guest before the party or give them to the guests as they arrive. All pre-game starters are optional and do not alter the mystery and are intended to enhance the pre-game build up for the event. These starters are not vital to solving the mystery. COCKTAIL (OR JUST APPETIZERS FOR TEENS) HOUR: Deliver these clues as your guests arrive. DINNER HOUR: Deliver these clues while you serve dinner to your guests. (Dinner is optional.) DESSERT, COFFEE AND THE BIG REVEAL: Deliver these clues with coffee (hot cocoa for teens) and dessert. For further questions, check out our FAQ web page at www.mymysteryparty.com/frasqu.html If your question is not listed in our FAQ, contact us at the email addresses below. Helpful Hints On How To Play A Murder Mystery: Guest Instructions
So you’ve been assigned a character and you’ve come to the party dressed in the most fabulous costume and have been told to play your role. So now what? The mystery is separated into 3 rounds. During the party, you will be handed an envelope that contains the clues necessary for your character for the round. The clues for all of the required characters provide everything that you need to solve the mystery. However, during the investigation segment of the game, you will need to ask the right questions and pay close attention to everyone’s clues to be able to get the whole picture of what has happened. From this point forward, you are to remain in character until the mystery is solved. If you are playing a ‘green alien from Mars’, then that is who you are until the end! Undoubtedly, your host has cast you into a character that you are comfortable playing. There are some characters that are designed to be played more reserved than other characters that should be played more boisterous. Feel free to play your role however you feel comfortable. Embellish your character’s personality if you would like. However, if you are feeling more reserved tonight, you can opt to allow the other characters to approach you or you can simply listen in on others’ conversations to get your information.

ROUND ONE – COCKTAIL (APPETIZER) HOUR - IT’S PARTY TIME! DIRECTIONS FOR THE HOST: Round one – cocktail hour begins as the guests arrive. Create a Mardi Gras ambiance with a New Orleans jazz mix CD playing softly, Mardi Gras decor, and a picture slide show of your friends if there is a television in the party room. Cocktails (yummy non-alcoholic drinks for teens) and appetizers can be served and a round one envelope should be handed to each guest. Make sure the guests’ instructions and the character descriptions are available for the guests to review. You can also creatively display the clue-containing envelopes on a table for the guests to locate their own character names. Don’t forget to take both individual pictures of your guests… and a group picture once everyone arrives - they’ll all want copies of these! PROP LIST: These are props needed for this round. Collect these items in advance and have them ready.
The clue cards printed, cut out and slipped into labeled envelopes for each character. Any of the bonus game materials (optional) – including the Money Challenge money.
ROUND ONE CLUES – CUT OUT, SLIP INTO ENVELOPES AND LABEL WITH THE APPROPRIATE ROUND AND CHARACTER
MAGNOLIA THIBODEAUX– ROUND ONE Remember that you are a hostess at Café Beignet. You are extremely lazy and would rather socialize with animals than people. You
are only here at this party because your parents made you – they worry about you being anti-social. You are Leon Naquin’s niece. USE THE FOLLOWING MARDI GRAS TRIVIA QUESTIONS AS AN ICE BREAKER
Question: What organization anoints the Queen of Carnival? Answer: Rex Question: What typically pulls Mardi Gras floats around the parade routes? Answer: tractors
CLUES TO REVEAL DURING THIS ROUND During this round, mingle with other guests to discuss the following information with whomever you choose:
Tell Jean-Baptiste Doucet that you can’t stand your Uncle Leon (Leon Naquin) either, but Jean-Bapiste must admit that he makes some really terrible calls on the football field when he’s the referee. You found it hysterical that your Uncle Leon ran out on the field and attacked Jean-Baptiste during your brother’s final football game last season. Your brother did lose his college scholarship because of 5 incorrectly made calls on his field goals. Your brother never misses and didn’t miss that day and Jean-Baptiste messed up his perfect record. Oh well, what do you care?
Tell everyone that you’d rather be around animals and you hate your job at Café Beignet. You only have that job so you can pay rent. You’d rather be a vet but that would mean you’d have to go to school and that takes effort. Forget it!
Tell your Uncle Leon that you always felt like he loved your brother much more than you. PERSONAL CLUES TO CONCEAL
You can’t stand your Uncle Leon. He always does everything in the world for your brother and he completely ignores you. He’s never so much as bought you a birthday or Christmas present but he bought your brother a car, a computer, a motorcycle, an apartment, took him to Rome, London and Egypt and buys him multiple gifts for his birthday and Christmas each year!
During the mystery, your character must be honest and not make up any potentially mystery-altering clues in addition to those provided to you. You do not, however, have to share the clues that you collect with other guests.

ROUND TWO – DINNER HOUR DIRECTIONS FOR THE HOST: In the nearest bathroom/restroom, place the following items under the
sink - the victim sign (page 38), scotch tape, host supplied white non-toxic face makeup (optional but funny and suggested), the (cut out) murder weapon (page 39), and if you have purchased the victim t-shirt and / or crime scene tape. If there is not a cabinet under the sink, place these items in any location that can be concealed within that restroom. The murder victim will be instructed in their clue card for round two to look for it if there is not a cabinet under the sink. Put the forensic analysis preliminary report (page 54) in a sealed envelope. Reveal it towards the end of this round by explaining that since Jacques Bergeron is a member of the Orleans Police Department and always carries his gear with him, he collected some forensic evidence and would like to share the preliminary report with the group. (He doesn’t have to really do anything – it’s just in the story line that he did it.) Announce that he will notify his crime lab of his preliminary findings when they arrive but for now - the group can use this information to solve the crime! This information might either confirm or refute their tentative guess of whodunit! At the conclusion of this round, give the guests a time period in which to fill in their final guesses as to whodunit on the 'Murder Mystery Investigation Sheet' (page 40+). Collect the guess sheets from your guests at the conclusion of this round –or they can keep them if you trust they will not change their answers.
Prop list: These are props needed for this round. Collect these items in advance and have them ready! The victim sign for the victim’s clue in Round Two (page 38). Scotch Tape (to adhere the victim sign and the murder weapon to the victim; host supplied) Murder Weapon sheet (cut out) (page 39) The Mystery Investigation Sheets (page 40+) The ‘Fantastic Movie Challenge’ (below) Non-toxic white face powder / paint for the victim (host supplied; the victim’s clue will describe what to do with it;
host supplied and sold on www.MyMysteryParty.com in the Mystery Props section). Answer sheet for the ‘Fantastic Movie Challenge’ (page 30). The forensic analysis report (page 54) in a sealed envelope (envelope is host supplied.) Victim t-shirt (optional, host supplied) and crime scene tape to decorate the victim (optional, host supplied and
both sold on www.MyMysteryParty.com in the Mystery Props section)

ROUND TWO CLUES – CUT OUT, STUFF INTO LABELED ENVELOPES WITH THE APPROPRIATE CHARACTER AND ROUND. TO BEGIN ROUND TWO, PASS OUT THESE ENVELOPES TO THE GUESTS.
BEAUREGARD FAUCHE – ROUND TWO - The murder will occur during this round
PRE-MURDER CLUES:
Tell Leon Naquin that next time he plans on throwing a drink at you during your Opera performance, that he will have another thing coming because you’ve hired a member of the S.W.A.T. team to watch over the audience.
Tell everyone that it was none other than Leon Naquin who attended your Opera House performance and heckled you and threw his drink up on stage during your solo performance at the climax of the story.
Ask Bernadette if she has any other career aspirations besides being a street performer on Bourbon Street. You recognize Clovis Chatelain but you are not sure where you recognize him from. Ask him if he used to look
a little different than he does now. See how long he has lived in town. Talk to Heloise Aucoin about what her problem is with Jean-Bapiste Doucet. Tell Zenobia LeBlanc that you’ve been friends with her family for quite some time now since they are season
ticket holders at the Opera House. You find it odd that Zenobia decided to become a cross country biker one random day. It is a lifestyle completely unlike how she grew up.
POST -MURDER CLUE: You did leave the party area tonight prior to the murder but you can’t recall when it was – you just know that you saw
Zenobia headed toward the kitchen. You were only gone a few minutes. You’re pretty sure that Heloise Aucoin returned to the party area prior to Jacques Bergeron leaving the party area. Zenobia LeBlanc left the party area about a minute after Jean-Baptiste and a minute prior to Acadia LaFleur leaving the
party area. You’re not sure where any of these people were going when they left the room. It might be worth investigating. The victim left the party area about a minute after Acadia LaFleur.

ROUND THREE– DESSERT, COFFEE AND ‘THE BIG REVEAL’ DIRECTIONS FOR THE HOST: After you collect the Murder Mystery Investigation Sheets, allow the guests
to one by one in front of the group accuse who they believe the murderer is as well as the motive behind the murder. You collect the investigation sheets to prevent the guests from changing their answers as they hear the other guests divulge their guesses as to whodunit and their motive. Once everyone has accused someone, pass out the round three envelopes to your guests and have them sit in a circle or semi-circle in order to be able to see guests as they read their solution cards one at a time to the group. Instruct the guests to stand up in front of the group and read (act out) their final solution round card one at a time in the exact order that is directed by the solution round cards. Any of the optional bonus games can be played at the conclusion of the game.

SOLUTION ROUND - cut out these clues and slip into labeled envelopes and seal them. Hand these out to the guests to begin round three.
BERTRAND BUJEAU– FINAL SOLUTION ROUND THREE – READ WHEN YOU ARE TOLD IT IS YOUR TURN. This is the final solution round. Every guest at this party will now tell their story to the group - in a specific order dictated by this final solution clue card - and the murderer will now confess. Before you read your final solution, read the following music lyrics to the other guests and ask them to give you the band and name of the song:
When I met you girl my heart went knock knock Now them butterflies in my stomach wont stop stop
And even though its a struggle, love is all we got And we gon’ keep keep climbin’ till the mountain top
Answer: The artist is Justin Bieber and the song is One Time
Say the following to the group: "A martial artist does not murder. A ninja only maims their opponent when punishment is in order. Was punishment in order for Leon Naquin? Certainly – he owed my Dojo 600.00 dollars but murdering him would not solve the problem. An ancient water torture and toe pull would have done the trick. Leon is lucky he was murdered.”
The following characters are to read their solution to the group in any order - once these characters have read their solutions, CLOVIS CHATELAIN will read his solution to the group:
