In addition to preparing for and teaching many courses, advising students, and attending to committee work, Dordt College faculty members participate in a va-riety of activities that contribute to communal scholarship and develop servicea-ble insight, all with an eye to equipping students, alumni, and the broader com-munity to work effectively toward Christ-centered renewal in all aspects of con-temporary life. 15 March 2016

Dordt College has grown and matured in many ways since its start sixty years ago. Growth has taken place in the number of students, programs, faculty and facilities, but, also in the scholarly achievements of its faculty as is evidenced in numerous ways. A few years ago, under the supervi-sion of then Dean for Research and Scholarship, Dr. John Kok, we began providing an annual report of Faculty Scholarship, Achievements and Service as a way to chronicle these achievements.

It is our hope that this chronicle can serve both as an opportunity to say ‘well done’ to all the faculty listed somewhere in this report for their scholarly and service work, and an opportunity to humbly thank God for his blessing of our faculty’s scholarly and service work – work that serves as one of the college’s most tangible approaches to “…equip the broader community to work effectively toward Christ-centered renewal in all aspects of life.”

Notably, 88% of Dordt’s full-time faculty are listed at least once in this report, which is a testament to the diverse and comprehensive ways that Dordt’s faculty engage their international and national scholarly communities, the broader Christian college and University community, as well as numerous academic and community organizations through papers, presentations, work-shops, performances and more.

It is important to note as you page through the report that each achievement listed here represents a significant commitment of time, energy and sacrifice – not only on the part of the faculty mem-ber, but also from their families and this institution. For any of you who have written a paper or given a talk, I’m sure you can appreciate this painful toil that is part of the life of the academic. For any of you who wish to read more/learn more about any of the achievements listed here, most are archived in the digital collections of Dordt College (http://digitalcollections.dordt.edu) – a wonderful new resource to maintain and share the scholarly output of Dordt faculty, staff and students.

Finally, let me give my profound thanks to the Assistant to the Director for Research and Schol-arship, Cindy Nederhoff who, with some assistance from Dordt students, compiled this report.

Dr. Nathan Tintle Director for Research and Scholarship Dordt College
