DRAMA KIDS Twenty-one students in K-5th grade are participating in Drama Kids this year, an afterschool opportunity for children to grow and develop through creative drama education. Drama Kids International is the most popular afterschool drama program in the world, and the Triad’s Director, Mrs. Pamela Barrans, holds degrees in Theatre Arts and in Business from High Point University.

Drama Kids is just one of many varied opportunities provided at HPCA in an effort to facilitate the growth and development of every student according to their area of giftedness, passion, and interest. In addition to developing speaking and listening skills, Drama Kids uses a wide range of unique drama activities geared to focus the bold, outspoken child and to draw out the quiet or inarticulate child. Only a few spots remain for the Tuesday 2:35-3:35 pm session. You can register online at http://dramakids.com/nc1/class-schedule/class-schedule-3/.

C O U G A R C U P G O L F T O U R N A M E N T Our 2014 HPCA Cougar Cup Golf Tournament was so well-supported by our school families and businesses! Our Athletic Director, Corey Gesell, as well as our coaches and staff, are grateful for the tremendous efforts and the wonderful outcome for the athletic program. What greater cause than our student-athletes and providing them with the quality of equipment, facilities, and staffing that will support their success! Thank you to over 150 golfers, and to every sponsor, volunteer, and ambassador, who worked so diligently to raise funds in this once-a-year opportunity. We are excited to report that our gross proceeds exceeded $40,000! Thank you, ServiceMaster Building Care, owned and operated by David and Mary Helen Jackson, for your Premier Sponsorship, and congratulations to the winning golf team, Team Jeans, led by HPCA parent, Brad Self! Mark your calendars now for Friday, September 18, 2015, as we continue to strive for excellence in athletics and in all components of Kingdom Education. E L E M E N T A R Y N I G H T A T T H E F O O T B A L L G A M E Elementary students and their families experienced a great night of football, fun, and food. JV Cheerleaders painted faces while Kip the Cougar greeted the students with a hug and high-five. At half-time, the summer camp cheerleaders performed routines along with the Varsity Cheerleaders, and Coach Clifford helped the 4th and 5th grade boys with a kicking contest. All Cougar fans enjoyed shaved ice, kettle corn, and our great concessions stand. Mrs. Spillman’s fourth grade class had the highest participation percentage and won a pizza party with Kip the Cougar and football players. Zack Andersen and Jackson Davis won the kicking contest and will have a special lunch delivered by a football player. The evening ended with the Varsity Football team defeating Hickory Grove. Go Cougars!

JV CHEERLEADING SERVICE PROJECT On September 22nd, the HPCA JV Cheer Squad visited Piedmont Crossing Nursing Home in Thomasville to spread some cheer to the residents. The girls performed cheers, stunts, tumbling, and jumps for the residents, and then shared why they like to spread joy and cheer to others. Each cheerleader had the opportunity to share smiles, handshakes, and hugs with the residents and speak with them individually after the performance.
