The film is 100 percent fixed in thefirst fixer tank and rinsed in thesecond fixer tank. With fixer replen-ishment being executed in thesecond fixer tank, the concentrationof silver in that tank stays low. Asthe silver carryover into the watertank is minimal, waste water fromthe Structurix NDT S-i processorreadily complies with stringentstandards for silver content.

Silver recovery is also optimized bythe Structurix NDT S-i’s design. Thefirst fixer tank being replenished byoverflow from the second fixer tank,nearly all of the silver released inthe fixing stage ends up in theoverflow from the first tank. The operating panel provides cleardisplays about all processingparameters. Incremental controlsare available for the temperature ofboth the dryer and developer.Messages may be displayed in 12languages.

Adjustable Film Receiving Tray

The film tray of the Structurix NDTS-i may be easily adjusted to anysheet film size, welding formats,and roll film of up to 16 ft inlength. Processed films are alwayscollected in the correct order in themultifunctional output tray.

Unique Daylight System

When combined with the StructurixFeeder, the NDT S-i becomes a verypractical daylight processingsystem. The Feeder will automati-cally follow the processing speed ofthe NDT S-i, even after theprocessor’s speed is adjusted. Andwhen an NDT S-i is used without afeeder, an optional 'light–tightcover is available from Agfa. In thisconfiguration, once films arepositioned on the film feed tablethe cover may be closed and thedarkroom illuminated.

Variable speed mode is anotherproprietary feature of the StructurixNDT S-i. Along with the standardcycle settings, the NDT S-i’sprocessing speed can also bemanually adjusted in 30-secondsteps (2.5 - 12 min.). In additionthese settings can be locked andprotected by a password.

Ease of Maintenance

The Structurix NDT S-i wasdesigned as the ultimate in ease-of-maintenance systems. The topsections of the NDT S-i’s racks canbe easily removed for separatecleaning, eliminating the need toremove an entire rack from a tank.While the film sensor rollers on

the feed tray require regularcleaning, the Structurix NDT S-i’sdesign makes even this task abreeze. The rollers can be readilyreached by removing the feed tray.And to prevent growth of algae, thewash water automatically drainswhen the NDT S-i is switched off.

Clear Operating Panel

The operating panel provides cleardisplays about all processingparameters. Incremental controlsare available for the temperature ofboth the dryer and developer.Messages may be displayed in 12languages.

Adjustable Film Receiving Tray

The film tray of the Structurix NDTS-i may be easily adjusted to anysheet film size, welding formats,and roll film of up to 16 ft inlength. Processed films are alwayscollected in the correct order in themultifunctional output tray.

Unique Daylight System

When combined with the StructurixFeeder, the NDT S-i becomes a verypractical daylight processingsystem. The Feeder will automati-cally follow the processing speed ofthe NDT S-i, even after theprocessor’s speed is adjusted. Andwhen an NDT S-i is used without afeeder, an optional 'light–tightcover is available from Agfa. In thisconfiguration, once films arepositioned on the film feed tablethe cover may be closed and thedarkroom illuminated.

The throughput or processing rate, ofthe Structurix NDT S-i is designed tomeet the needs of a wide range ofusers, including those with large filmprocessing demands and companieswith high production peaks. Set toan eight-minute cycle, the NDT S-i

boosts the processing speed to 20inches of film per minute, or 78films (size 14x17”) per hour.

A New RevolutionaryTechnology "Cascade Fixing"

Agfa’s new Cascade Fixing Systemdelivers consistently high-qualityimages. What makes the systemspecial is that it delivers thoseimages at a higher throughput rate,while reducing the enviro-mentalimpact. Thanks to a design thatfeatures two successive fixing tanksthat are replenished on the counter-flow principle, the Structurix NDT S-isignificantly reduces the silverresidue present in the waste water.

The exposed film is first developedin the developer tank and thenrinsed in the intermediate-washingtank. Intermediate washing ensuresthat little of the developer solutioncarries into the fixing tanks, thiskeeping the ‘fixer bath’ in optimumcondition. At the same time, theintermediate washing process helpsto prevent faults from occurring onthe film being developed.
