Hazard Impacts Location Timing
Flooding Long-duration excessive rainfall
may result in flooding of low-
lying areas, streams, and creeks.
Throughout the western
Carolinas and northeast
Georgia, but especially along
the eastern slopes of the Blue
Ridge and the adjacent
foothills.
Through Tonight
River Flooding
Main stem rivers will rise due to
the heavy rain, with some
possibly exceeding bankfull and
flooding surrounding farms and
low-lying areas.
The upper reaches of the
French Broad River, especially
around Blantyre, will be most
prone to flooding as well as
associated tributaries. Rises
to near bankfull may also be
observed along the Saluda,
Broad, and Catawba Rivers.
Developing today and
continuing through
tonight, possibly
lingering into Tuesday.

is now in effect
Strong winds may blow around
unsecured objects, knock down
limbs and weak trees, and
produce scattered power
outages.
Elevations above 3500 feet in
the North Carolina mountains.
Winds will ramp up early
this morning and then
maximize during the
daytime hours before
gradually diminishing
tonight.

Event Summary
A Wind Advisory is now in effect for elevations above 3500 ft in the
North Carolina mountains. Very windy conditions are expected, with
winds expected to ramp up early this morning, maximizing during the
daytime hours before gradually diminishing tonight. Strong winds may
blow around unsecured objects, knock down limbs and weak trees,
and produce scattered power outages.
Heavy rain will continue to move into the forecast area today and
persist through tonight.
Flooding will be most likely along the eastern slopes of the southern
Appalachians and the adjacent foothills.
Isolated to scattered thunderstorms this afternoon and tonight across
the lower Piedmont will produce occasional cloud-to-ground lightning
and brief gusty winds.
