IELTS is the International English Language Testing
System, designed for people who want to study where
English is the main language of communication.
Results from IELTS tests are recognised by other
universities, colleges and professional bodies in the
UK, USA, Australia, New Zealand and throughout the
world.
IELTS gives you a test report that shows an overall
score for your level of English ability from 1 (non-
user) to 9 (expert user).
The test is made of four parts – Listening, Reading,
Writing and Speaking. The Speaking test is a face-to-
face interview with a certified Examiner. The total test
time is 2 hours and 45 minutes and consists of:
Academic Reading: 3 sections, 40 items, 60
minutes
Academic Writing: 2 tasks: 150 words and 250
words, 60 minutes
Listening: 4 sections, 40 items, 30 minutes
Speaking: 11 to 14 minutes

Our English World ClasSIX course is a demanding programme for both aspiring professionals and working executives. Our
clients’ time is valuable, which is why we offer a highly intensive course, tailored to the specific needs of each class.
Students are placed in realistic professional scenarios to develop the language and skills relevant to their needs. In our
morning workshops, students work on developing their fluency and communication skills to ensure a confident and
assured performance in English. In the afternoons the group dynamics change promoting renewed energy and focus.
Needs-driven classes enable us to tailor our courses to the individual requirements of each class.

The day begins with the a plenary session lead by the students. This is a great opportunity for students to practice their presenting skills in a relaxed environment.
Task Knowledge (09:00 – 10:00)
This session presents the language (expressions, grammar
and vocabulary) for a range of business tasks and scenarios. Controlled practice using drills and exercises
develops accuracy in the language.
Active Scenario (10:15 – 11:15)
Students take the language that was introduced in Task Knowledge and put it into practice in a scenario which develops throughout the week.
Knowledge for the Professional Community (11:30 - 12:30)
Development of important professional soft skills, plus the language of managing, leading and project management.
Language Focus (13:30 – 14:30)
Functional English for the professional environment. This session builds skills in telephoning, business writing and socialising.
Confident Spoken Performance (14:45 – 15:45)
In this fluency session you develop your confidence and skills in a range of speaking situations through role-plays, presentations and public speaking activities.

Your development on the Regent Cambridge UFP
Language Skills Competency in the English language is essential for
successful study at a UK university. You will receive specific English language tuition focused on preparing you for the IELTS test.
Academic Skills The academic side of the course is designed to provide you with an understanding of key concepts in a number of business-related subjects. The development of academic skills is highly important in the course and these skills include analysis, reasoning and problem-solving.
Skills Development A key objective of the Foundation Course is to develop the study skills needed for study at a UK university. You are encouraged to adopt an active and participatory approach to your studies, taking responsibility for your learning.
Study skills sessions will deal with constructing arguments and essay-writing skills.
Information Technology Skills The course will prepare you for the types of technology you will encounter during university study. It also focuses on the use of IT as a business tool and you will be assessed on your use of IT in academic coursework.

HOMESTAY ACCOMMODATION
Living with a family is a good way to practise your
English outside the classroom and experience the British way of life. Your host family will provide you with a comfortable room, breakfast and dinner every day and all
meals at weekends.
LOCATION Most host families live in residential areas around the city
with easy access to the school. It is very common in Cambridge for people to travel between 20 to 40 minutes by bus to and from school or work.
YOUR HOST FAMILY You may stay with a family with children, a single person, a retired couple or a young couple. Many different types of people enjoy hosting foreign students. To ensure that we find the best family for you, please
inform us about any special requirements well in
advance.
Once we find the right host family for you, we will send
you the address and a brief description of the family, no later than 1 week before your course starts.
QUALITY Our Welfare Officer personally visits each host family to
ensure that the highest standards are maintained and keeps in close contact with the family during your stay. The
Welfare Officer will make sure everything runs smoothly and is always available to speak to you.
SERVICES
Your room is cleaned once a week and bedding and towels are also changed weekly. Your laundry can be done once a week.
INTERNET Internet is available at most of our host families. You can also purchase a wireless connection from any of the mobile telephone providers which will give you your own unlimited internet access. You can also use free Wi-Fi connection at the school.
ARRIVAL We can organise a taxi transfer from any of the major
airports in the UK to your homestay accommodation. If you arrive at your host family independently, please inform us about your arrival time and your host family will greet you at home.

You can choose from a standard room and an ensuite room. With the en-suite option you will
have a private bathroom. Extra nights are optional.

Regent Cambridge’s summer residence is situated in a historical area close to central Cambridge. Our summer residence option gives you more independence and it’s also a great way of experiencing the British student lifestyle.
LOCATION
The residence is only 5 minutes on foot from the colourful city centre of Cambridge and a further 15 minutes to Regent Cambridge. You will also be within a stone’s throw of a shopping arcade, different theatres, the post office, some pubs, cafés, restaurants and nightclubs as well as small local shops in
this lively area.
SERVICE
The rooms are cleaned once per week and the bins emptied daily. Bedding and towels are provided by the college and changed weekly.
YOUR ROOM
Your bedroom will be fully furnished with a bed, a
bedside cupboard, a large desk and desk light, a desk chair, a washbasin, a wardrobe (closet), bookshelves and chest of drawers. You will share a bathroom with other students staying in the residence. OTHER FACILITIES
There are three kitchens to be shared with other students. The residence also has common areas where students can socialize, such as the living-room and dining area or the large gardens. There’s also a utility room where you can wash, tumble dry and iron your clothes.
ARRIVAL
We offer rooms in our summer residence from July through to September. Please note that you must be 18 or over to stay in the summer residence. Regent Cambridge’s summer residence can be reached either on foot or by taxi.
