th en lock th e ba ttery in place (d).

 Note:  Mak e s ure the cover latch is u nlock be fore ins erting

the ba ttery pack otherw is e y ou w on’t be able to ins ert the

battery pa ck.

Wh en th e bat tery cha rge level becom es low, th e

compu ter gives off warn in g beeps a n d th e s ta tu s

in dicator flas h es a t r egu lar intervals . Th is te lls th e u serth at t h e bat tery power is cri t ical ly low. You can correct

th is s i tu at ion by rech argin g th e bat tery pack.

Wh en ever possible, us e the AC ada pter. Th e batter y will

come in h an dy wh en you t r avel or du rin g a power fa i lu re . It

is ad visa ble to ha ve an extra fu lly-char ged b at tery pa ck 

availab le as backu p.

 Note: Wh en us ing a b attery pa ck for the firs t tim e, fully

recharge the ba ttery , the n d is conn ect the ad apte r to us eup the ba ttery before recharging again. You only nee d to

do this once w ith a n ew battery or w ith a ba ttery that’s

been s tored w ithout being us ed for a long tim e. If the

com puter is to be s tored for m ore than tw o w eek s , w e

s uggest that you rem ove the battery pack . Battery pow er 

(from a fully charged battery pack ) d epletes in roughly a

Chec king the Battery Level

Th e com pu ter featu res ba t tery-low warn in g s ign als th at a re

com pu ter emit s warn in g beeps an d th e ba t t e ry ind ica tor

flas h es a t r egu lar intervals . Also, you ca n check th e bat tery

ch ar ge level u sing th e Win dows ba ttery gau ge.

Using the Windows Battery Mete r

Th e Win dows bat tery meter in dicates th e presen t ba t tery

level. Simp ly rest you r cu rs or on th e bat tery gau ge (or AC

plug) icon on th e tas kba r to s ee the p resent cha rge level of  

your ba t tery.

 Note: We s uggest that y ou charge the battery pack before

retiring for the day, letting it charge overnight before

trave ling. This e ns ures a fully cha rged ba ttery for us e the

nex t day .

"Automa tic Dim" Fea ture 

Th e com pu ter has a u n iqu e "au toma t ic dim" power savin g

featu re . Wh en th e comp u ter is u s ing AC power an d youdiscon n ect the AC ada pter from th e com pu ter , it

au tom at ically dim s th e LCD back light to sa ve power. If you

recon n ect AC power to th e compu ter , it a u toma t ically

ad ju sts th e LCD back light t o a b righ ter level.

operating sy s tem w ill not allow the compu ter to enter the
