Dear Parents/Guardians,

The Presdales music department are proud to announce that we have a fantastic opportunity for all piano players and musicians. Thanks to the generosity of sponsor Sir Harvey McGrath, we have concert pianist Richard Meyrick visiting our school on Monday 25th November 2019 at 4-5:30pm in the school hall, who will give a free, inimitable and inspiring piano masterclass. This opportunity is open to just 6 pianists who are working at ABRSM Grade 3 and above (although there is no requirement to have taken the exam).

Following this masterclass, there is an opportunity for any promising young pianists (out of the 6 students) to be selected for a free, all expenses paid scholarship, including consultations in London and residential courses nationwide, playing chamber music and concertos with professional musicians (if relevant).

The 6 selected students will need to bring along an item of piano music they would like to work on, and Richard’s aim is to broaden the thinking of these young musicians. He will give them new perspectives, techniques and goals for the preparation and presentation of their pieces. As part of the Masterclass, Richard himself will perform.

We will be giving priority to those studying GCSE and A Level Music but we open this opportunity to all year groups. We also would encourage and welcome a supporting audience to this event.
