Achievements and
Celebrations End of Autumn Term
All children across the school are learning to read,
write and spell using a new teaching programme called
Read, Write Inc. We have seen some fantastic progress
this term including from children in our nursery!
Miss Timms showed these children how to fit the pieces together
and they worked as a team to build a house. They even managed to
fit the roof. Great teamwork and problem solving!
Children in Holly
and Sycamore
have been
leaning new skills
during gymnastic
sessions with
Premier.
Children in Oak and Ash class
have been enjoying reading their
‘Favourite Five’ books both with
adults and by themselves.
Well done to these
boys in Beech class
who have shown
that they can
successfully order
numbers to 10.

Leon has impressed us with his positive attitude when
tackling mathematical problems this term. Recently,
when representing numbers in a variety of ways, he
challenged himself to write the corresponding addition
fact family. Keep up the good work, Leon!
Children in 2MG were inspired by the wonderful
performance of ‘I believe in unicorns’ and made
clay unicorns of their own. Each has been
moulded and painted in their own unique way
making them very magical indeed!
Look at the concentration
on the faces of these year
one writers! Children in
year one are given lots of
opportunities to write
independently and all of
these children chose to
do just that. Mrs
Ramsdale challenged
them to use descriptive
words and Oscar wrote
‘The Unicorn is white and
fluffy.’
Ibrahim has made amazing
progress since joining our
school. He is learning to speak
English and is proving to be a
real maths whizz!

3P had a wonderful time on their trip to Escot Park. They especially enjoyed meeting the
cheeky fox, dressing up as Saxons and making their own bread.'
We were treated to a great
performance of ‘Panto Pandemonium’
by Year 3 and 4. Here you can see them
busy practising – some children had a
huge number of lines to learn. Well
done everyone!
The Explorers enjoyed writing
letters to Father Christmas and
taking them to the post office to be
sent to the North Pole!
Year 4 practised their
collaging skills before
producing some
beautiful final pieces
based upon the book ‘I
believe in unicorns’
Lots of children have made great progress this
term and this was shown in their reading and
maths test results. Here is Ruth proudly
showing off her achievements after a term of
hard work!

A second group of Year 5 children
enjoyed a cycle ride out to Double
Locks with Sustrans. It was a bit chilly
but they had a great time!
Year 5 and 6 have been learning lots
about earthquakes and volcanoes this
term. Here are 6K dramatising the
eruption of Mount Vesuvius.
6S performed like
professionals at the
Premier Showdown
last Thursday evening.
We were very
impressed with their
dance and very proud
of their effort.
All classes in Years 5 and 6 created pop
up books based around ‘I believe in
unicorns’ by Michael Morpurgo. Here are
Oliver and Petra with their beautiful
book. Brilliant work you two!
Also, here is an excerpt from a news
report by Eleonore in 6W: Good
evening, I am Eleonore Woods
reporting on the tragic events
happening today in Pompeii. Currently
behind me, this ferocious mountain is
spitting ash clouds into the sky blocking
the sun and making it hard for local
citizens to see and breathe. As far as I
can see, people are trying to evacuate
the city in boats before conditions can
get any worse.
