Bridge Design Overview Manufactures and supplies NATO

Trilateral Standard military bridge sets:

Bridge roadway widths: 4.2m and 5m curb to curb

Bridge spans: up to 103m for MLC 85T/100W without piers

Loads: up to MLC 120/150 and AASHTO HL93

Designs: military (5ea) and civilian (14ea)

Decking:

Steel orthotropic roadway deck units: Steel deck plate stiffened longitudinally & transversely with stringers.

Driving Surface Options: Factory applied aggregate; locally applied asphalt (2.5” – 5”); or plain

Deck (1694 lbs)

AB 507 Transom, MLC 80/110 (1000 lbs)AB 982 Transom, MLC 120/150, (1725 lbs)

Panel (693 lbs)Shear Panel (896 lbs)

Design Review Requires no on-site welding to attach the bridge to

the barge saving ~10+ hours of welding per span

Uses fewer bolts for the superstructure equating to significant reduction in man-hours (analysis based on 51m, TSR3, Dry Gap bridge)

Incorporates an orthotropic deck system. Recent point load testing: very high (inquire at booth)

Utilizes tapered chords allowing a trouble-free and smooth transition to chorded trusses during the cantilevered launch

AOR Context

12/6/20189

Who depends more on mobility and when?

Standard assumptions:

Attacker has to move, defender can hide/dig-in and wait, MILENG, Dec 2017

Defender may have to move (for Defense & Reconquering Territory), MILENG, Dec 2017

In 2014-2016, the CJTF-OIR had complete air superiority in Iraq and Syria, all the bridges north and northwest of Baghdad were either destroyed or made impassable to stop Da’esh from reaching Baghdad. Da’esh was a sub-rate peer competitor.

Imagine what NATO would have to do to stop or deter a near-peer competitor like Russia threatening the eastern border of Poland or the Suwalki Gap or continued threats to the Ukraine.

Replacement bridges are critical to maintain mobility due to NATO not having complete air superiority any longer. NATO needs to have a rapid surge capability… prepositioned stocks of rail, wet and dry and emergency bridging are vital to ensure unimpeded mobility.

In Summary, Acrow Bridges are: More economical (pennies on the dollar

in preposition sites as a Return on Investment for mobility insurance; less man-hours to construct)

Installed permanently or temporarily

Proven product success and longevity on deployed bridges in Iraq and Syria

Designing new aerial anchoring system for 11^ fps (3.4m/s) and above stream velocities and rocky stream bottoms

Prepared to support NATO/U.S. Army Europe/EU acquisition of bridge stocks

Ready to support U.S., NATO and Allied nations with increased training opportunities to increase interoperability …train before execution

12/6/201815 MILENG COE Dec 2018

Made of high strength USA 65 ksi steel

Designed to meet or exceed the Trilateral Military, India RC, AASHTO, Canadian, British, Euro, Polish, and other bridge design standards
