Praise is due to Shirdi Sai Baba whose worth cannot be described by speakers, whose bounties cannot be counted by calculators, whom the height of intellectual courage cannot appreciate. He for whose description no limit has been laid down, no eulogy exists, no time is ordained and no duration is fixed.

We always greatly want our BabaÊs blessings and bounty to shower on us; because we seek nothing else but His love and grace.

Devotees’ day-to-day behaviour is the only way to realize for sure the bounties of Sai!

Sai Baba preached and set role-model life-style by setting living example of Truth, Love, Compassion and Care, and helped us determine our day-to-day behaviour.

Once, the kind and merciful Sai Baba said these sweet words to Mrs. Radhabai Deshmukh, the mother of one Khashaba Deshmukh :

„Sitting in this Masjid, I speak the Truth, nothing but the Truth. No sadhanas, nor proficiency in the six shastras, are necessary. Have faith and confidence in your Guru. Believe fully, that Guru is the sole Actor or Doer. Blessed is he who knows the greatness of his Guru and thinks him to be Hari, Har and Brahma (Trimurti) Incarnate.‰ (Shri Sai Sat Charita,

Chapter 19) The word Satya (Truth) is derived from

Sat which means ÂbeingÊ. Nothing is or exists in reality except Truth. That is why Sat or Truth is perhaps the most important name of God. In fact it is more correct to say that Truth is God than to say God is Truth. But, as we cannot do without a ruler or a general, such names of God as ÂKingÊ or ÂKingsÊ or ÂThe AlmightyÊ are and will remain generally current. On deeper thinking, however it will be realized that Sat or Satya is the only correct and fully sign fact name for God.

“Sitting in this Masjid, I speak the Truth, nothing but the Truth.”

And, where there is Truth, there is also knowledge which is true. Where there is no Truth, there can be no true knowledge. That is why the word Chit or knowledge is associated with the name of God. And, where there is true knowledge, there is always bliss (Anand). There sorrow has no place. And, even as Truth is eternal, so is the bliss derived from it. Hence, we know God as Sat-Chit-Anand, one who combines in Himself Truth, Knowledge and Bliss.

Devotion to this Truth is the sole justification for our existence. All our day-to-day activities should be centered in Truth. Truth should be the very breath of our life. This is the only way to realize for sure the bounties of Sai

Right now, in these observations on Truth, I make a mention of the story of RajaHarishchandra, which is of perennial interest.

The story will last for as long a time as the value of Truth lasts. It illumines our life. It was this story which affected Mahatma Gandhi, who was deeply influenced by the virtues of telling the Truth. This story occurs in the Vedas and also in the Puranas, in poetry and in drama. It took its origin in the Vedas, flowed through the Puranas, ran into cascades of poetry, and has continued to enrich the life of people all around the world.

Devotees’ day-to-day behaviour is the only way to realize for sure the bounties of Sai!

Dear Sai Devotees! I just read an article, ‘Sai Maya, Deen Durbalon ki Chhaya’ [Hindi],

published in the November-December 2014 issue of Shri Sai Leela magazine (pp. 18-19). The author of this article, who prefers to maintain anonymity, presents a practicing scene of the teachings of the Lord of Shirdi. The narration may serve as a great guiding force for all Sai devotees to determine their day-to-day behaviour, which is the only way to realize for sure the bounties of Baba.

Once, during her Delhi trip, the author happened to pass by the Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute and Research Centre. There was a shopping mall opposite this hospital. Some buzzing activities at hand attracted her attention and she stopped to look at what was happening.

Nearly 300 to 400 labourers, seated in an orderly manner, were being served meal by some young ladies and gentlemen. A van was parked some distance away. The authorÊs heart leaped up when she beheld the writing on the van - ‘Shirdi Sai Rasoi (Registered).’

She, noticing all these activities, became inquisitive, and wished to know what these goings-on were all about. She approached the van, but no member of the team paid any attention to her. All members of the team had their focus and concentration on feeding the labourers. She stood dumb. Yes, she stood dumb while the labourers were still enjoying the plenty of Sai. Finally, the food-court was over, and the labourers returned to their work with smile on their faces. Now, it was time for the swachchhata abhiyan (cleanliness drive) to be undertaken, which the team performed with equal dedication.

As the organizing party was preparing to wrap up their programme, the author approached the organizers to know what that business was all about.

One of the women organizers, requesting anonymity, told the author :

This organization called ‘Shirdi Sai Rasoi (Registered)’ is Sai BabaÊs family, which He Himself ÂcreatedÊ. The organization makes best endeavours to practice the teachings of Baba

The story of Raja Harishchandra will last for as long a time as the value of Truth lasts.

and tread on the path shown by Him. It is based in Madhu Vihar, Patparganj, she added.

Now her speech caught an intrinsic rhythmic flow : „We often noticed Sai devotees arranging ‘Bhandara’ (feast) in front of the Sai Baba temple, Lodhi Road, New Delhi. Even the people from the wealthiest layer of society, who come to the temple sitting in their luxury cars to take BabaÊs darshan and bow their heads down at His Lotus Feet, also accept the ‘Bhandara’.

„This concept of Bhandara motivated quite a few of us to start arranging such Sai- Bhandara.

„Sai Baba would often say, ÂHe who feeds the hungry, really serves me with food.Ê These words of Baba went deep into our hearts, and we resolved to make it a point to regularly feed the poor. To begin with, we four or five persons jointly set out and collected some chapatis (breads) from neighbouring houses by asking for ‘bhiksha’. Then, we cooked some vegetables and dal (pulse) ourselves. Now we offered it all to Baba, and with reciting SaiÊs name sprinkled some Udi on it. Finally, we fed the poor and hungry; and there were their faces shining with a subdued flickering light of satisfaction, and here were our own embodying the ecstasy of generosity itself.ÊÊ

Sai Baba would often say, „Shri Hari (God) will certainly be pleased, if you give water to the thirsty, bread to the hungry, clothes to the naked, and your verandah to strangers for sitting and resting.‰ (Shri Sai Sat Charita, Chapter 19)

„There will never be any dearth or scarcity, regarding food and clothes, in any devoteesÊ homes.‰ (Shri Sai Sat Charita, Chapter 6)

Devotees’ day-to-day behaviour is the only way to realize for sure the bounties of Sai!

Dear devotees! I recently received a WhatsApp message, ÂCoffee on wallÊ, that read :

„I sat with my friend in a well-known coffee shop in a neighbouring town of Venice (Italy), the city of lights and water.

As we enjoyed our coffee, a man entered and sat at an empty table beside us.

He called the waiter and placed his order saying, ÂTwo cups of coffee, one of them there on the wall.Ê

We heard this order with rather interest and observed that he was served with one cup of coffee, but he paid for two.

As soon as he left, the waiter pasted a piece of paper on the wall saying, ÂA Cup of CoffeeÊ.

While we were still there, two other men entered and ordered three cups of coffee, two on the table and one on the wall.

They had the two cups of coffee, but paid for three and left.

This time also, the waiter did the same; he pasted a piece of paper on the wall saying, ÂA Cup of CoffeeÊ.

It was something unique and perplexing for us. We finished our coffee, paid the bill and left.

After a few days, we had a chance to go to this coffee shop again. While we were enjoying our coffee, a man poorly dressed entered.

As he seated himself, he looked at the wall and said, ÂOne cup of coffee from the wallÊ. The waiter served coffee to this man with the customary respect and dignity.

The man had his coffee and left without paying.

We were amazed to watch all this, as the waiter took off a piece of paper from the wall and threw it in the dust bin.

Now it was no surprise for us – the matter was very clear.

The great respect for the poor and needy shown by the inhabitants of this town made our eyes well up in tears.‰

Dear devotees! Ponder upon the need of what this man wanted...

He enters the coffee shop without having to lower his self-esteem... he has no need to ask for a free cup of coffee...without asking or knowing about the one who is giving this cup of coffee to him. He only looked at the wall, placed an order for himself, enjoyed his coffee and left.

...Probably the most beautiful wall one may ever see anywhere....!!!

ItÊs what makes us human and helps us to have BabaÊs love and grace.

Devotees’ day-to-day behaviour is the only way to realize for sure the bounties of Sai!

The Durga Saptashati is a 700-verse poem and a part of the Markandeya Puran. It is a brilliant poem in Sanskrit. The narration starts with the story of king Suratha. He is dejected because he has been defeated by his enemies. He lands up in the hermitage of sage Medha. There he meets a merchant called Samadhi. Samadhi had not only lost his wealth but his own family, as the latter has turned him out.

Both Samadhi and king Suratha are confounded at the fact that their mind keeps reverting to the very family and circumstances that have been the cause of so much sorrow in their lives.

They both request sage Medha to throw light on this mysterious aspect of the mind.

Sage Medha replies :

„Every being has the knowledge of objects perceivable by the senses. All objects of sense reach it in various ways. Some beings are blind by day, and others are blind by night; some beings have equal sight both by day and night. Human beings are certainly endowed with knowledge, but they are not the only beings (to be so endowed), for cattle, birds, animals and other creatures also cognize (object of senses).

The knowledge that men have, birds and beasts too have; and what they have men also possess; and the rest (like eating and sleeping) is common to both of them. Look at these birds, which though they possess knowledge, and are themselves distressed by hunger are yet, because of the delusion, are engaged in dropping grains into the beaks of their young ones…” (Chapter 1- Verses 46-58)

Besides feeding the poor, the ‘Shirdi Sai Rasoi (Registered)’ also gives humane treatment and protection to dumb animals and

birds by way of taking good care of their food and drinking water.

Devotees’ day-to-day behaviour is the only way to realize for sure the bounties of Sai!

We have a fascinating account in Shri Sai Sat Charita, Chapter 9 :

„Once, Mrs. Tarkhad was staying at a certain house in Shirdi. At noon, meals were ready and dishes were being served, when a hungry dog turned up there and began to cry. Mrs. Tarkhad got up at once and threw a piece of bread, which the dog gulped with great relish. In the afternoon, when she went to the Masjid and sat at some distance, Sai Baba said to her, ÂMother, you have fed me sumptuously up to my throat. My afflicted pranas (life-forces) have been satisfied. Always act like this, and this will stand you in good stead. Sitting in this Masjid I shall never, never speak untruth. Take pity on me like this. First give bread to the Shri Sai Sat Charita, Chapter 9

hungry, and then eat yourself. Note this well.Ê She could not at first understand the meaning of what Baba said. So, she replied, ÂBaba, how could I feed You? I am myself dependent on others and take my food from them on payment.Ê Then, Baba replied, ÂEating that lovely bread I am heartily contended and I am still belching. The dog which you saw before meals and to which you gave the piece of bread is, one with me, so also other creatures (cats, pigs, flies, cows etc.) are one with me. I am roaming in their forms. He, who sees me in all these creatures is my beloved.Ê ‰

Devotees’ day-to-day behaviour is the only way to realize for sure the bounties of Sai!

Sai Baba assures us, „Entrust your responsibility completely to me and monitor your day-to-day behaviour.‰ The first step we have to take in spiritual practice is to know that we should screen our everyday behaviour with utmost sincerity and faith in Baba. The boat of life cannot be pushed forward unless we use the pair of oars to row the boat. One of the oars is ÂFaithÊ and the other is Âmonitoring oneÊs day- to-day behaviourÊ. We must believe that it is He who makes us row the boat of Life. Unless we blend our deep faith in Baba, with our spirit of devotion to day-to-day behaviour, we cannot hope to feel His bounty.

Devotees’ day-to-day behaviour is the only way to realize for sure the bounties of Sai!

Dear devotees! Our words are like a mirror which reflects our moods and modes of thoughts. Good words are like a balm, cool and fragrant as the sandal-wood paste and strengthen the bonds of friendship. An unruly tongue spells disaster both to the speaker and the listener. Thinking before speaking is a challenge for a lot of people. It might even be hard, especially if one is trying to prove to the world how smart one is. There seem to be a lot of people out there like me who do not always think before they speak. Some think just because they have something to say, then they should say it, even if it is hurtful, inconsiderate and inaccurate. A good rule of thumb is that we should not always say what we think, but we should always think what we say. It does not matter how right we are, if it is going to come out in a hurtful way, we need to rethink how we say it and, perhaps, whether we even say it at all. So often, it is not just what we say, but how we say it that counts. Society respects a person who talks less but in pleasant words. So, every word we utter should never be like a sharp sword that cuts at the heart of a listener. Words should soothe and not scald the listenerÊs mind.

Devotees’ day-to-day behaviour is the only way to realize for sure the bounties of Sai!

Baba in His own style always gave His devotees a good teaching. He always taught His devotees to be righteous :

A lawyer once came to Shirdi from

Page 10: $adar 2015 8/- - Sai

January-February 2015

8

Pandharpur. He went straight to the Dwarkamai Masjid to take BabaÊs Darshan. After bowing down at BabaÊs Feet, he gave dakshina without being asked. As he felt like listening to SaiÊs conversation, he sat very close to Him. Baba suddenly turned His face towards him, and uttered these words, „Why are people so two-faced? They fall at my feet and offer me dakshina, but shower abuses behind my back. How queer their ways are!‰ Having heard this, the lawyer immediately grasped the meaning of BabaÊs words.

When the lawyer returned to the Sathe wada, he narrated the entire episode to Kakasaheb Dixit; and did confess to being the true villain of the piece. The lawyer recounted thus :

„In 1908, Tatyasaheb Noolkar was the Sub-Judge at Pandharpur. Once, he started experiencing very acute pain in his eyes, and consulted several eye specialists, but to no avail. Ultimately, he came to Shirdi to seek Sai BabaÊs merciful Grace and Blessings. He stayed in Sathe wada, and kept reciting Sai Naam continuously for two days. On the third day, he went to the Dwarkamai Masjid to have BabaÊs Darshan. On seeing Noolkar, Baba placed His hands on His own eyes, and said to Shama, ÂToday my eyes are paining severely.Ê Lo! Hardly had Baba uttered these words when the pain in NoolkarÊs eyes disappeared. On his return to Pandharpur, Tatyasaheb Noolkar shared his experience with the lawyers in the bar room. The lawyers chuckled and mocked Noolkar for believing in such ÂmiraclesÊ. They questioned how a serious eye problem could ever be cured simply by such an act of Baba. They also made Baba the target

of their criticism.‰ (Shri Sai Sat Charita,

Chapter 21)

The lawyer admitted that he had also participated in that criticism of Baba; and what he found Baba commenting, while sitting in the Dwarkamai Masjid, was so very apt and true.

Devotees’ day-to-day behaviour is

the only way to realize for sure the bounties

of Sai!

Yet another incidence of backbiting and slandering is mentioned in Shri Sai Sat Charita (Chapter 19) :

Baba once pointed at a pig and said to one of His devotees, „Behold that pig! How with what relish it is eating filth! Your conduct is identical to the behaviour of that pig. You go on maligning your own brethren to your heartÊs content. You are born a man only after performing many deeds of merit. But, if you keep acting like this, Shirdi wonÊt help you in any way.‰

Devotees’ day-to-day behaviour is the only way to realize for sure the bounties of Sai!

Some people may promise on the spur of the moment, but they fail to keep the promise and they are looked down upon for promises made and broken.

Once, Shama - the ardent devotee of Baba - had forgotten to fulfil his promise he had made to Shri Saptashrungi Devi before his dying

(Contd. on page 13)

The words and actions of Shri Sai were difficult to comprehend immediately. The devoteesÊ with His grace guessed out why Baba said or did something. For instance, He planted saplings in His garden ÂLendibaug’, which presumably symbolises different religions and castes. This garden perhaps symbolized a garden of devotees from different faith, who are being nurtured to spread the joy and essence of devotion. One can easily say that the trees and the plants have grown and reached all directions in the 150 years that have rolled by.

When we think of the plant kingdom we realize that trees are the source from which we get oxygen, which is vital for all living beings. Likewise, we are dependent on agriculture for our basic need - food. Trees and forests contribute in getting adequate rain and they are inevitable part of life.

When Shri Sai Baba was first seen sitting under the Neem tree, and when He showed His GuruÊs Samadhi under it, the importance of the tree is highlighted as follows :

Neem is considered as a doctor among trees. Its leaves, fruits, stem as well as roots are medicinal and beneficial for health. Pimples, acne, or other skin diseases can get cured with

the help of medicines prepared from this tree like boiling the outer part of the tree, making a powder of its fruits and leaves and applying it on injury helps one recover faster. Neem is also beneficial for teeth and gums. Moreover, Neem leaves are put along with the grains to store them as they prevent decay. It is an evergreen tree and sitting under it sooths the mind. With so many advantages Neem is the Bitter Boon.

Science has realized its importance and India now has a patent for Neem medicines.

Saint Tukaram always called trees as our kin, our relatives, where birds sing melodiously.

Though human beings often forget to take care of nature, Sai Baba was always aware, and therefore, He cultivated Lendibaug that represents preserving and cultivating nature keeping in mind the future. This intention of Sai Baba was narrated in Sai Leela magazineÊs one of the editions in 1940 by Sri Moreshwar Pradhan. He states, „In May 1910, I visited Shirdi for the first time. Sai Baba insisted me to stay there for eight days. During this stay, on a Thursday, Sai Baba had returned from Lendi, along with Nanasaheb Chandorkar and his two sons - Babu and Bapu and I came to meet Sai Baba when He said, „Bhau (this is what He

addressed me as initially and later He used to call me as Pradhan) come along‰ and He got up suddenly. He took a tumbrel (tin pot) and asked all of us to come along. We never thought Sai Baba would ever visit Lendi at this hour when it was a hot summer afternoon. Yet, He took us and stood under a Banyan tree. At that time Lendi was a barren land. He then called me and gave me some seeds and said, „Take these. You disperse them on this land and then, He Himself started watering the land with the help of the tumbrel. Meanwhile, the news of Sai Baba visiting Lendi had spread in the village and many people and disciples had gathered immediately. He asked some of them to water the seeds. Then, we returned to the Masjid.‰

„At that time, the amount I had to give to purchase Lendi was 1200; but with the help provided by Tatyaji Ganpat Patil, I was able to purchase the land. Sri Sagun Naik was the one whose hard work transformed the barren land Lendi into a garden, now Lendibaug.‰ Many disciples of Sai Baba gave various fruit saplings and flowering plants trees for this garden and now it is one of the best places in Shirdi. Sai Baba asked His disciples to lift a rock and uncovered a well. The water from this well has healing properties that people never stopped praising about it. This is how Lendibaug was formed. Sai Baba loved Nature.

When Sai Baba first came to Shirdi, He had cultivated a garden with Marigold, Jai and Jui plants. He watered them Himself. In Shri Sai Sat Charita, Sai BabaÊs love for Nature is

described.Whenever Baba would go to Rahata, He

would bring saplings of Marigold and Jasmine. He planted them in barren land and regularly watered them. Waman Tatya, a devotee, regularly supplied two unbaked earthen pots to Baba to water the plants with His own hands. Baba would carry the water on His shoulders from the tank near the well; and, at sunset would keep the pots at the base of the Neem tree. No sooner were they kept on the ground they would break on the spot; and early next morning, Tatya would bring new ones for Him. An oven-baked pot is more durable. But, Baba required only the unbaked and new. So, without undergoing the trouble of baking, the potter would sell the pots. For three years this continued and the wilderness was trnsformed into a garden. This is the place on which stands the wada to-day which provides the devotees, a place for close association with Him. - Shri Sai Sat Charita, Chapter 5, Verses 46-51

Later on Raobahaddur SatheÊs wada (bunglow) was built on the land.

Even today, the garden is taken care of. Considering BabaÊs love for flowers and fruits, on 1st May 1999, the Shri Sai Baba Sansthan, Shirdi decided to establish a separate garden department. The Chairman of the Sansthan at the time, Sri D. M. Sukthankar and the Executive Officer, Sri Ajit Pawar and the trustees came together to establish this department. Thus, Lendibaug was renovated and many new plants, trees as well as artificial waterfalls were constructed. In addition, a pond of 25 feet

depth was created. There are water lilies in it and people enthusiastically come here to see the beauty of the garden as well as the pond. Some faithful people even offer money in the form of coins in the pond. The employees fish them out twice in a week and give them to the account department. Along with the pond, the Banyan, various flower plants, green grass, Peepal, Audumbar attract the tourists. The lamp Nandadeep that was lit in the presence of Sai Baba is still preserved and glows day and night. The devotees also visit the well that Sai Baba had created. Even today, people believe and have experienced that the Neem tree that Sai Baba rested under has sweet leaves. In order to give the disciples the Neem saplings, the garden department is trying to create new saplings with the help of ÂtissueÊ culture.

Similarly, in 2001, the garden department cultivated a small garden on the southern side of space available in front of Dwaravati, a residential project. This garden is open for visitors in the morning as well as in the evening.

Villagers, small children, kin of people admitted in the hospital are the ones who relax in this garden. It has childrenÊs park, pathway, and a fountain which adds to its beauty.

In the educational institutes, lawns have been cultivated in the premises of Sai Baba Kanya Vidyalaya (girlsÊ school) and Sai Baba English Medium School and saplings of various flowers are planted.

The garden department had also started a rose garden in the premises of Sai Baba Bhakta Niwas (a building with 500 rooms for devotees). Since, the plants were old and the production of roses declining, different plants like Yellow Magnolia (Sonchafa), nursery of various coloured roses, other plants and cactus house has been created. The plants in the nursery are sold at low rates. Since, devotees stay in Bhakta Niwas, the premise is often crowded with devotees. The devotees visit the nursery for taking a closer look and also buying them. The flowers of these plants are used for worshipping Sai Baba and making garlands for Him. Moreover, new rose garden has been created at the other places gggggg gggggg ggggg ppppppppp

where devotees come to stay - Sai Ashram and Bhakta Niwas.

Apart from this, a 500-rooms complex for devotees has been newly constructed with inner space for a garden. It has been beautified with

a musical fountain at the centre. The fountain functions on devotional songs and music is a treat for the ears and fountain is for the eyes. Many devotees visit here to see this beautiful fountain and hear the devotional songs.

Further, the Sai Sansthan has developed a pond named Sathvan Talaav (water storing

lake) and also Water Purification Plant in Kunkuri. The garden department has planted coconut and mango trees all around the pond area, which helps in preventing soil erosion and retains its moisture. The ecological balance is maintained as well as the place has become a tourist attraction.

Sai Ashram buildings constructed with the support of philanthropic ardent Sai devotee Sri K. V. Ramani and Dharmashala buildings also have well maintained landscapes and gardens.

The flowers are used for decoration in each and every function or Pooja organized by the Sai Sansthan. During festivals, flowers are used as garlands, to decorate the huge palanquin, as decorative garlands in the gateway and also

to greet the guests. The garden department looks after these decorations and takes active participation to decorate the podium whenever any programme is arranged. The coconuts offered to Sai Baba are sold. From the sale, in 2013-14, the Sansthan earned approx. 19 lakh. The department also prepares garlands and flowers for daily Pooja.

Overall, the garden department looks after the gardens in the premises, the new saplings, and maintenance, renovation of old gardens and all these tasks are well planned and well executed.

Chapter 30) In an another instance, two gentlemen from Goa seemed to have forgotten their promises made to Lord Dattatreya, and Sai ultimately called them to Shirdi to keep their words. (Shri Sai Sat

Charita, Chapter 36)

Broken promises may break the bond of goodwill between people. Birds because of their legs and human beings because of their unruly

tongues get trapped in troubles. Are we not the masters of the tongue till we speak? A slip of

tongue means we are enslaved by our words. So, Baba taught His devotees to think more and speak less.Devotees’ day-to-day behaviour is the only way to realize for sure the bounties of Sai!

My daughter’s birth :Sai’s Blessings

Every person has a desire and prays

to God to fulfi l it. I am no exception in this

case. I prayed to Sai Baba that I wanted

a girl-child, as for the last two generations,

there was no girl-child in our family. I did

not have an aunt nor do I have a sister.

My brother too has only sons. I have a son

too, but we were eager to have a girl-child.

The question was not only of getting a girl-

child, but the doubt of having the second

child, since my wife faced a lot of trouble

in fi rst pregnancy. She had a fall and so we

were really very scared. After bearing a lot

of pain, she gave birth to the baby boy, so

to be able to give birth again seemed very

diffi cult.

My fi rst child, a son was eight year

old still there were no signs of second

time pregnancy. I wanted a daughter, so I

told my wife Vaishali that we will adopt a

girl-child. But, she refused and I felt bad.

I prayed whole heartedly and asked Sai

Baba to bless me with at least one girl-child.

It was in 2001 that Vaishali, my wife started

experiencing some pain. When we visited

the doctor, we were informed that she was

pregnant. During the advanced stages, the

sonography revealed that she would give

birth to twins. To some extent, the news of

twins scared me, because if we had twins

and both male children, I wondered what

would happen. I prayed to Sai Baba that at

least one of the two twins should be a girl. I

feel, I literally troubled Sai Baba a lot in that

space of time. December was the month

where the due date was given. We went to

a reputed doctor from Pune and I saw Sai

Baba’s photo frame. I was reassured and

asked the doctor to take my wife’s case.

He smiled. I continued talking to Sai, as the

due date came closer. My wife experienced

labour pains on 23 December, but she did

not give birth then. 24th December was our

wedding anniversary and we thought at

least on that day, I would be blessed with

children. But, four days passed. It was on

29th December, Datta , that my wife

gave birth to not just one but two girls. My

joy knew no bounds. I thanked Sai, because

He had been very generous. His blessings

were and are still there with us.

Last December, we visited a cultural

fest on the occasion of my daughters’

birthday. There were different stalls and

my wife insisted visiting a stall where future

would be predicted. She forced me to visit

and unwillingly, I went with her. As usual,

the future predictors predicted inauspicious

things and events in their life. I simply went

forward. Then, I came across another

stall where horoscope was provided.

There too, the future-predictors forecast

some bad things. Naturally, I felt bad and

disappointed. Suddenly, the message tone

of my mobile attracted my eyes. I received

a message, and that was from Sai Baba’s

Dwarkamai group. It had the most relevant

and important lines as if Sai Baba wanted

them to reach me -

Do not believe in any prediction, do

not look for future in , do not

befriend any stranger/ keep studying.

Reading the lines, tears of devotion in

Sai welled up my eyes. Isn’t the Omnipresent,

Omnipotent, the Most Merciful Lord?
