Adjusting brightness + contrast and colour:

When you first go to adjust brightness/contrast and colour within the video you need to click on ‘add media’ to be able to import the clip you are trying to edit.

Once you have clicked on add media you have the choice of options for how you want to import this media clip. I have chosen ‘files and folders’ as my video footage has been saved here.

You then need to locate the folder that your file has been saved in. Mine is ‘downloads’ and the file is called ‘video. I then double clicked on this file to import it.

Once the file has finished being imported this screen appears, showing my footage. Now you need to click ‘next’ to carry on with the edit.

Once this is done you need to click on your video file to highlight it, this enables you to edit the file further and adjusting brightness/contrast and colour. Once you have done this, the yellow box will turn blue.

You know need to click on ‘adjust’ to change the brightness/contrast and colour to how you need it to be for your video.

The next step is to click on ‘lighting’

After this a grid will appear on the screen. Each box offers a different level of brightness, leaving you with the option to pick whichever one works best for your footage. After this you can do the same for contrast and exposure

This is what my brightness/contrast and exposure looks like once I have finished, I have used these effects to make my footage look darker (fighting in with the horror genre).

Once this is done you need to click on ‘colour’, a similar grid will appear like it did when ‘lighting’ was clicked on.

This is what my footage looks like once I have finished choosing my lighting effect. I have made it black and white to make it look older, this is conventional for horror films. Then you need to click on ‘done’ and you are finished editing.
