ADMISSION TO M. TECH. (Part Time) COURSES
SESSION: 2013 - 2014
1. INTRODUCTION
In pursuance of the decision of the Board of Governors of the University in its meeting held on 20th November, 2002, the Vice Chancellor established Regional Centres for M. Tech. courses in its affiliated institutions. The Regional Centres established in the affiliated College are a part of the University. They are administratively, financially and academically controlled by the University and degrees are awarded by the University.
2. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
The eligibility criteria for admission in M. Tech. (Part Time) course, is regular B.E. / B. Tech. degree of Punjab Technical University or its equivalent with at least 50% in
aggregate, preference with valid GATE score.

Note: 1. AMIE / AMIETE / AMACSE graduates including graduates from other Govt. recognized
professional bodies equivalent to AMIE with 50% or above marks in their exams in such body may also take admission to M. Tech. with the condition that the branch adopted at graduation level must be same as the specialization applied for.
2. A valid GATE score would be preferred but is not a must for admission to M. Tech.
3. REGISTRATION & COUNSELLING FEE The following fees (in Rs.) are payable:
Candidate should register on the website of PTU www.ptuaccounts.ac.in. e-Fee deposition slip will be generated.
Students will have to take print out of the online fee deposit slip and should submit the fee in
the respective branch of bank.
Fee of Rs. 2000/-(non-refundable) is to be deposited in branches of bank listed on the website
Submission of more than one application form by the same candidate is not permitted. This
violation may lead to cancellation of the applicant candidature in toto.

5. SUBMISSION OF CERTIFICATES
(a) THE ORIGINAL CERTIFICATES MUST BE PRODUCED AT THE TIME OF
ADMISSION IN THE COLLEGE OR TO BE SUBMITTED WHEN CALLED UPON TO
DO SO BY THE UNIVERSITY.
(b) Certificates in the format provided must be signed by prescribed authorities. (c) In case of any discontinuity in studies, an Undertaking (called the Gap
Certificate) to the effect that the candidate was not involved in any offence or in any illegal activity and that no criminal case is pending against the
candidate in any court, should be furnished by the candidate.
6. SPONSORSHIP CERTIFICATE
The candidates sponsored for the M. Tech. (Part Time) programme by the PTU affiliated College / Institute must produce his / her sponsorship certificate at the time of admission in the allotted college.
7. NUMBER OF SEATS The numbers of seats in each course of M. Tech. (Part-time) are as follows: (a) Seats for faculty / candidates from the PTU affiliated College / Institute: 80%. (b) Seats for open category candidates : 20%.
If the sponsored seats remain vacant, the gap can be filled by the open category candidates.
8. FEE STRUCTURE
The admission fee shall be Rs. 5000/- and fee per subject shall be Rs. 6000/-. The fee is to be paid semester wise. A non refundable fee of Rs. 2000/- must be paid at the time of seat allotment. Also, Project and Seminar will be considered as one subject and thesis fees is Rs. 10,000/-.
9. ADMISSION PROCEDURE
The admission to the courses will be through online centralized Counselling . The admission procedure shall be available on website www.ptu.ac.in.

10. DURATION OF COURSE
The duration of M. Tech. (Part Time) course shall be a minimum of three academic years (Six semesters).
The classes and labs shall be held over weekends.

12. GENERAL CONDITIONS
a. A letter from the Principal / Director must be furnished stating that the candidate is being sponsored to get admission. The Principal / Director should also indicate that the candidate would not be withdrawn mid way till the completion of the course.
b. There will not be any age restrictions. However, preference shall be given to those who are below 45 years of age.
c. Admission will be made on the basis of merit of qualifying examinations and weightage to the relevant experience in teaching (in college affiliated PTU).
d. For faculty from the PTU affiliated college, if experience certificate has not been obtained from the college the candidate has to apply under open category.

i. B.E. / B. Tech. Points : 100 (based on % of marks) ii. Experience (max. 5 years) : 20 (4 Points per year) Points (Only for faculty of PTU affiliated college)
13. ANTI-RAGGING
The AICTE has issued anti-ragging guidelines vide F.No.37-3/Legal/AICTE/2009.
Sub: Prevention and prohibition of Ragging in technical Institutions, Universities including Deemed to be Universities imparting technical education.
F.No.37-3/Legal/AICTE/2009 – In exercise of the powers conferred under Section 23 read with Section 10 (b),
(g), (p) and (q) of AICTE Act, 1987, the All India Council for Technical Education, hereby makes the following
Regulations:-
1. Short title and commencement
These Regulations may be called the All India Council for Technical Education (Prevention and Prohibition of
Ragging in Technical Institutions, Universities including Deemed to be Universities imparting technical education)
Regulations 2009
They shall come into force on the date of the notification.
2. Objectives
In view of the directions of the Hon’ble Supreme Court in SLP No. 24295 of 2006 dated 16-05-2007 and in Civil Appeal number 887 of 2009, dated 08-05-2009 to prohibit, prevent and eliminate the scourge of ragging including any conduct by any student or students whether by words spoken or written or by an act which has the effect of teasing, treating or handling with rudeness a fresher or any other student, or indulging in rowdy or undisciplined activities by any student or students which causes or is likely to cause annoyance, hardship or psychological harm or to raise fear or apprehension thereof in any fresher or any other student or asking any student to do any act which such student will not in the ordinary course do and which has the effect of causing or generating a sense of shame, or torment or embarrassment so as to adversely affect the physique or psyche of such fresher or any other student, with or without an intent to derive a sadistic pleasure or showing off power, authority or superiority by a student over any fresher or any other student, in all higher education institutions in the country, and thereby, to provide for the healthy development, physically and psychologically, of all students, the All India Council for Technical Education,(AICTE) brings forth these Regulations.

ONLINE COUNSELLING PROCEDURE
PTU will hold joint online counselling for admission to 1st year M. Tech Part Time (on the basis of Valid GATE Score and B.Tech/B.E. with atleast 50% marks in aggregate) for colleges affiliated to PTU Jalandhar. Step 1 Counselling Fee : Counseling Fee 1

every candidate shall have to deposit a counseling fee of Rs.2000/- (Non-Refundable) by following ways :
Log into www.ptuaccounts.ac.in Fill the respective information. Select from any designated Banks as listed in the website where the candidate intends to deposit his/her counseling fees through cash. Take a printout of the E-Deposit Slip Deposit cash in the respective Bank.

2)No manual cash deposit slip shall be entertained in any of the following banks. Only those candidates will be able to participate, who have deposited the counseling fees on time.

d. For registering in M.Tech. Part time , Enter your roll no, issued during fee deposit at website www.ptuaccounts.ac.in.. Enter the green number as shown in Parallel and SUBMIT the form
(Note: Before you proceed to register yourself for counseling you must ensure that you have read and understood the eligibility criteria of participating universities and for each Reserve category and General category.)
e. Select to participate either in 80% Quota for Sponsored Candidates (Candidates sponsored by the PTU Affiliated Colleges) or 20% Quota for Non-Sponsored Candidates.

j. If all the fields are filled correctly then press “SUBMIT YOUR DETAILS” button for successful registration.
k. Before final submission of online Registration form, Read the declaration given in the website carefully and give you consent to it, failing which you will not be able to complete your registration. Also please note that once you complete your registration, you will not be able to change any details in your registration form thereafter. So you must check your information details
carefully before final submission of your registration form.
l. After registration rank will be prepared offline as per detail in registration and subsequently will be uploaded as per schedule in the student’s login account of http://ptuadmissions.nic.in

3 CHOICE FILLING
(a) After allotment of rank, candidate will be allowed to exercise his choice and following options will be available in his/her login page:
Available Choices: System will provide the List of Colleges and branches thereof.
Fill Choices: Candidate can fill the College or branches of choice in order of preferences. It is in the interest of the candidate to fill maximum available choices of colleges and branches. Candidate can also alter/rearrange/delete the filled choices.
Display filled choices: Choices entered by the Candidate will be displayed on different form so
that he/she can check the already entered information. Print Choices: Candidate can also print the list of choices filled by him/her for record.
(b) Allotment of seat : After the choice filling period is over, all filled choices of all registered
candidates will be considered for allotment of seats as per merit (Rank), category of the candidate and Seat Allotment Rules approved by participating University (ies).
4. RESULT DECLARATION: On the date of result declaration, candidate who gets a seat will be informed
by SMS. Alternatively candidate can logon to his/her account and check for allotment of seat. Successful Candidate can take printout of provisional allotment letter of college / Branch by logging into his/her account from the website http://www.ptuadmissions.nic.in. The allotment of seat is purely provisional and subject to verification of original certificates and payment of college fee etc, at the time of reporting in the allotted institute.
5. REPORTING IN THE ALLOTTED INSTITUTE : Candidates are required to report to their respective allotted
institutions within the specified period (as per the counseling schedule) along with the documents/ testimonials/certificates and pay college fee as prescribed in the prospectus. If candidates do not report within the specified period, their allotted seats shall be cancelled and the candidates shall not have any claim on the seats, whatsoever. It is in the interest of the candidates to report at the earliest to the allotted college.
Other Important Instructions
1. Candidate must ensure about his/her eligibility as per Government Notifications/ Information Brochure available on website.
2. The Candidate are advised to go through the details thoroughly at these www.ptuadmissions.nic.in and www.ptu.ac.in websites regularly for update.
3. The candidates are advised not to submit original certificates at the college at the time of admission
4. The details regarding the total number of seats in a particular college is available on the
www.ptuadmissions.nic.in 5. The Candidates falling under 80% Quota for Sponsored Candidates (Candidates sponsored by the PTU
Affiliated Colleges) or 20% Quota for Non-Sponsored Candidates., irrespective of whether they have been allotted a seat or not allotted seat or could not join the allotted institution or could not participate in the earlier round can participate in the second phase of counselling
6. For 2nd & 3rd round of Counselling, candidates can deposit Rs 2000/- non refundable (if not deposited earlier) as counselling charges in designated branches of the banks after registration. Candidates who have
deposited Counselling fee in the 1st round will not be required to deposit the fee again for subsequent rounds.
Before choice filling of second round candidates rank will be re-generated as per new registration. So rank of
candidate may vary from one round to another round of counselling. Subsequently candidates can exercise choices
as explained above

2. For any clarification / dispute, the decision of Vice
Chancellor, Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar shall be
final and binding on all concerned.
