1st Priority 2 Concern

Uncontrolled loading was observed at

Main building. Most of the area of that

flood had more than 2.00 Kpa of live

loads on it. There were no loading plans

and no method of monitoring the live

load of each floor.

3rd Priority 2 Concern

The two parts of the main building were

connected by a number of foot bridges.

Our concerns are due to the following

elements seen during our survey:

- The connection pattern between the

steel bridge and the R.C building is

unknown.

- It is not clear how much live load can

the bridges can support.

-The bridges may be venerable against

seismic loads.

1st Priority 3 Concern

The Boiler and Generator shed contains a structural steel roof.

Our concerns are due to the following elements seen during our survey:

- Some trusses were supported by a brick lintel.

- Steel members are not restrained and are not tie down for uplift forces due to wind

- Improvised support detail for some truss

Building Extents – Overall Stability System

Sway stability of the Main

Building could be expected

from rigid frame system

(beam and column

participation) although no

ductile detailing is provided

in structural plans.

Brick infill is unrestrained

and should not be

considered.

We require that the lateral

support system is

investigated as part of a

Engineering Assessment.

Roof Waterproofing System

at Main Building

No waterproofing membrane was visible on the roof of the building. This means that any

cracks in the surface finishes on the roof will allow water to seep into the concrete slab

beneath the finishes, and cause long-term soaking of the slab. Same goes for water

tanks at roof.

Item No. Observation Recommended Action Plan Recommended Timeline

1 Priority 2 - Main Building - Loading plan.

Factory engineer should develop a loading plan according to existing

site condition.

Monitor the buildings live load in each floor and maintain the loading

plan.

6-weeks

2 Priority 2 - Main Building - Cantilever.Remove all kinds of live loads from the cantilever slab and keep it open

only for walking.6-weeks

3 Priority 2 - Main Building - Cantilever.Updated the drawing of Main Building and mention the cantilever slabs

area reinforcement details.6-months

4Priority 2 - Main Building - Foot bridge between the

original and the extension.

The Factory Engineer is to carry out an assessment of the foot bridges

between the original ant the extension and also update the as built

drawing.

6-weeks

5Priority 2 - Main Building - Foot bridge between the

original and the extension.

If deemed necessary by Factory Engineer, carry out any remedial works

recommended.6-months

6 Priority 3 - Boiler and generator shed - Structural steel roof.Have a Factory Engineer provide details to reinforce and stabilise the

structural elements.6-weeks

7 Priority 3 - Boiler and generator shed - Structural steel roof. Carry out any remedial work required by the Factory Engineer 6-months

8 Priority 3 - Main Building - Overall stability system.Carry out engineering assessment on the Main Building to verify that it is

stable under lateral loading.6-weeks

9 Priority 3 - Main Building - Overall stability system. Carry out recommendations of engineering assessment. 6-months
