It has been a week of exercising our bodies for ‘National School Sports Week at Home’ and our minds for Maths Week. Thank you to everyone who enthusiastically took part in both events. Several of you were feeling competitive as you joined in with SUMDOG Maths Competition and our Sports Quiz on Dojo. As this quiz was so popular, we will come up with different themed quizzes to test you! Our Y6 pupils have settled in to their weekly routine now and we look forward to welcoming back Reception pupils next week on Monday and Tuesday. Year 1 pupils will then be invited back to school on a part time basis also. On Monday, it is the Feast of St Peter and Paul. Peter and Paul were both friends of Jesus , but their lives were very different. Peter, a fisherman in Galilee , was first named Simon but Jesus gave him the name ‘Peter’, which means ‘rock’. Paul, a very religious Jew from Tarsus, was first called Saul. Read the rest of the story here in the Wednesday Word God Bless Mr C J Bonner Home Learning – Calling all children! The government have this week produced guidance on supporting parents to keep their children safe. Please follow the link below.https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-keeping-children-safe-from-abuse-and-harm/advice-to-parents-and-carers-on-keeping-children-safe-from-abuse-and-harm

This guidance brings together sources of information about the main risks children may be particularly vulnerable to during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and signposts you to help and support available. This guide also includes information on the support providers who can help you have effective conversations with your children, especially if you are concerned for their safety.

The NSPCC helpline provides support and advice if you have a concern for your own or another child’s safety on 0808 800 5000. You can also contact the relevant social care team at your local council.Visit the See, Hear, Respond service or call on 0800 157 7015 for additional support, advice and information during this period. This includes online and face-to-face support for children and families, help for children at risk of harm outside of the home, and support to help vulnerable children successfully return to school.

Families can also access either of the services below. If you are worried about your child’s emotional well-being with them being at home and away from school, please contact school so that we can signpost you to the relevant help.

Scratch is a programming software and community that is committed to supporting children to learn coding. It is pitched at 8-16 year olds, with Scratch Jr accommodating 5- 7 year olds. The whole project is developed by academics at MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology)The app and website are very user-friendly; children can create animations, stories and even games, and there is a lot of help for parents and pupils.

Feast of SS Peter and Paul

Saints Peter and Paul were leaders and models in strengthening the faith of the infant Church.

We ask them to pray for our faith to grow stronger and stronger every day.

O holy Apostles, Peter and Paul, intercede for us.

Protect, O Lord, your people who trust in the patronage of your Apostles, Peter and Paul, and by their constant protection, protect your people. Through Christ our Lord.

Amen.
