Did you know?

Las Fallas is a traditional celebration held in commemoration of Saint José (19th March) in the city of Valencia. The term Fallas refers to both the celebration and the monuments created during the celebration.

The five days and nights of Fallas are a continuous party involving fire: La Despertá, La Mascletá, La

Plantá, L’ofrena floral, Els Castells and La Nit del Foc, La Cremá.

The focus of the party is the creation and destruction of “ninots”, which are huge wood, cardboard, plaster and paper-machè statues. The ninots are extremely lifelike and usually depict satirical scenes and current events. The labour intensive ninots, often costing

up to US$75,000 each, are crafted by neighborhood organizations and take almost the entire year to construct.

More than 2 million of tourists from all over the world come each year to Valencia to enjoy the party.
