Aena will attend the 136th IATA Slots Conference in Vancouver from 23 to 25 June 2015.

Our Airline Customer Relations and Airport Marketing Team will attend the meeting.

We hope to see you in the stand 214

Beacon technology to improve the quality of service offered to the passengers

This innovative technology provides direct

and real time information to passengers about

their flights, waiting time at the security

checkpoints, commercial offers, ... through

Aena’s app, which is free and available for

Android and iOS devices.

This initiative is a pilot project that is being

carried out at the airports of A.S. Madrid-

Barajas, Palma de Majorca and Barcelona-El

Prat and that will be gradually implemented in

the rest of Aena’s airports.

Aena’s financial results for 2014

Aena’s gross operating profit (Ebitda) in 2014 raised to 1,875 m euros, 16.5% more than in 2013.

The measures carried out by Aena from 2012, via incomes and expenditures, have marked the consolidation of the company and its remarkable profitability.

Aena also consolidates the positive trend in passenger traffic and reaches 195,9 m pax in 2014, 4.5% more than in 2013.

Free and unlimited WiFi access for all the airports and heliports of Aena’s network

Aena will offer free and unlimited access to

internet in all its 46 airports and 2 heliports

with a speed that multiplies by four the

existing one.

This new service, that will presumably enter

into operation next October and will have a

duration of two years, is another step toward

fulfilling Aena’s commitment to provide new

digital services to its passengers.

A payment Premium service will also be offered

for those clients that request it with better

performances and additional services.

Short Haul Route: Tallinn

General Overview

Tallinn is the capital and largest city of Estonia. and has a population of 435,245 inhabitants .

Geographically, the city is situated in the northern coast of Estonia, on the banks of the Gulf of Finland.

Tallinn’s medieval Old Town is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and known around the world for it’s authentic Hanseatic architecture, its cobblestone streets and houses dating back as far as to 11th century.

Just a 5 minute walk from the medieval Old Town is the thriving business centre of Tallinn: modern glass and steel skyscrapers, high-tech hotels and conference centres, hundreds of restaurants and bars, banks and shopping areas. Here is everything you would expect from a modern European capital, within an easy reach and for a friendlier price.

The Lennart Meri Tallinn Airport is the main airport in Estonia and belongs to the administrative field of Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications of the Republic of Estonia.

Tallinn Airport is placed about 4 kilometres from the city centre and has seen considerable development over the past years, both in terms of traffic and its facilities.

In 2014 the airport handled 2 million passengers and served various legacy airlines as well as low cost airlines.

Potential routes

In the case of Spain, almost 70,000 direct passengers1 (departure+arrivals) travelled from Estonia to our country in 2014 (7.5% more than in 2013). Tallinn is currently connected with four Spanish cities Girona, Tenerife, Madrid and Barcelona.

In 2014 there were almost 39,000 Estonian tourists2 visiting our country.

Nevertheless, in 2014 there were also 42,200 indirect passengers who travelled from Spain to Estonia.

The main destinations to consider as possible new routes or increasing frecuencies, according to the indirect traffic figures for 2014, are:

Barcelona: 16,900 indirect passengers3

Malaga: 12,000 indirect passengers3

Madrid: 8,600 indirect passengers3

Long Haul Route: Hong Kong

General overview

There are not many places in the world that connect western lifestyle and Eastern spirituality. However, southern China is home of one of the privileged places: Special Administrative Region of Hong Kong. With approximately 1,108 sq km and 7 million people distributed between the Kowloon Peninsula and various islands, this small territory bathed by the South China Sea owes its historical peculiarities to its geographical location. A strategic port location, in the 19th century, became the object of desire of European trading powers.

The 60’s and 70’s witnessed a spectacular economic development of Hong Kong, which would be considered as a so-called Asian Tigers (along with South Korea, Taiwan and Singapore). Likewise, its industrial boom was even an extraordinary urban growth. Given the scarcity of buildable space, Hong Kong was doomed to large population concentrations backed by massive construction of skyscrapers which today draw their skyline.

Today the city holds the status as a financial capital and center of attraction for business and tourism.

Tallinn and Hong Kong

Potential routes

Spain has no direct connection with Hong Kong. However in 2014, 105,000 indirect passengers travelled from Hong Kong to Spain.

Madrid, with 38,400 indirect passengers and Barcelona with 48,200 indirect passengers in 2014 are the main destinations to consider a new route to Hong Kong.

Additionally a direct route could capture the indirect traffic between Latin America and Hong Kong: AS Madrid-Barajas Airport is the gateway to Latin America in Europe with close to 24% of the market share and there is no need for transit visas for Latin American and Hong Kong passengers.

The restaurant, designed like a classic Chinese palace, can accommodate up to 2,300 people. Situated in Aberdeen har-bour, the Jumbo is one of the world’s largest floating restau-rants and an iconic tourist landmark of Hong Kong.Source: Hong Kong Tourist Board (HKTB).

Airport Charges frozen until 2025

The Spanish Goverment approved in 2014 the RD-Law 8/2014 which includes the freezing of airport charges levels until 2025 and the exemption of cargo charges.

The document also defines the new regulatory framework for Spanish Airports for the next years.

Incentive Scheme for 2015

The new route would benefit from the Incentive Scheme valid for 2015 with discounts in the passenger and security charges. Check this information in the Price Guide 2015 by clicking here.

The Descent of the river Sella is the most important popular celebration of Asturias, and is considered to be a celebration of International Tourist interest.

Every year, on the first Saturday of August, canoeists from all over the world come to Asturias to take part in the Sella River race.

It consists of a canoe race down the 20 kilometers of the river Sella between the towns of Arriondas and Ribadesella. This is the longest navigable distance of this beautiful river whose natural course has sixty kilometres surrounded by splendorous nature, that can be also enjoyed during the whole year.

The story started in 1929 when Dionisio de La Huerta and a friend of him made an excursion in canoe by the river Piloña, a tributary of the river Sella. Their aim was only descending for pleasure and enjoyment. Nevertheless, this excursion began to take place yearly as a kind of competition among the friends in order to get the best records.

Only interrupted by the Spanish Civil War between 1936 and 1943 each year this festivity is even more crowded beating all possible records of previous years.

The festivity starts in the morning, when trains set out from Oviedo and Ribadesella packed with people to see the race. At 11 o’clock, while the canoeists get ready on the river, colourful crowds of people in fancy dresess make their way to watch the race from the shore.

Did you know?

The starting of the Sella’s river descent

There is also another speciality. This is to do this same race but at night. Under the words “Row, Row!” people encourage those night par-ticipants up to the dawn.

If you have the chance, come to enjoy it.

At twelve o’clock the race starts with a stampede of canoes towards the river and the excited shouts of the spectators.

In Ribadesella, the finishing point of this race, people wait impatiently for the champions in each category and there is a huge picnic in Campos de Ova with food, cider, songs, dances…

But the party doesnt end here because this locality by the river Sella offers a lot of entertainment on fridays and saturdays nights in Ribadesella and also in Arriondas.

Zaragoza Airport: Infrastructure specialised in air freight

Since 2009, Zaragoza Airport’s expanding air freight activity has placed it third in Spain in terms of volume of cargo and first by “wide-body” cargo aircraft operation. In 2014 it processed 86,311 tonnes of cargo, predominantly textile products which represented 50% of the transported goods.

Why operate in Zaragoza Airport, specialised in air freight?

• Its strategic location places it in the centre of a 300 km radius which includes the main economic and industrial hubs of the Peninsula and the south of France (like Toulouse).

• Zaragoza Airport is integrated with the largest logistical platform in southern Europe, an intermodal transport hub (rail, road and air) making Zaragoza one of the most important logistics cities in Europe.

• It offers excellent access with many different connections. Its warehouses, equipment and development capacity are at the service of the specific needs of each company, and it is equipped with the latest technology.

• It operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It is an EU-Approved Border Inspection Post (BIP) for animal products for human consumption, and has facilities for controlling plant-based products. The various Government Services involved in airport operation are all available.

1,157,062 sqm

13,117,977 sqm

875,988 sqm

2,545,510 sqm

• It has two handling operators providing the best possible service. One of them has its own warehouse for handling goods and a temperature controlled storage facility for perishable goods next to the BIP.

• The simplicity of the airport’s infrastructure speeds up the management of cargo, making faster delivery times possible and thus reducing costs. It has also benefited from the notable reductions in air freight tariffs of recent years.

• Its 20,000 square metres of developed site permit the installation of new first and second line companies.

• Eight air freight companies currently operate in the airport, connecting to destinations in Europe, Russia, the Americas, East Asia and the Middle East: Air China, Air Bridge Cargo, Korean Cargo, Emirates, Qatar Cargo, China Cargo, Cargolux and TNT.

Over 200 multinational companies can tell their successes in Aragon:• Companies like Inditex or Decathlon

have located their international logistics operations in Aragon.

• GM has its largest factory in the world in Aragon

• Companies like BSH Bosch und Siemens Hausgerate GmbH or Valeo perform their R&D in Aragon.

• Business services firms like Accenture, HP or Capgemini have their IT operations in the region

• Companies like Adidas are market leaders in Spain and Portugal from headquarters in Zaragoza.

• Other world class companies operate from Aragon, including Arcelor Mittal, Vestas, ABB, Schindler, Groupe Auchan, Baxter Bieffe Medical, Becton Dickinson, Saint-Gobain, Tarmac Aerosave and so forth.

Additionally there is a network of Aragonese logistics parks that represents 38% of the occupied logistics parks surface in Spain.

Iberians, Romans, Christians, Arabs, Jews,... have all lived in Zaragoza and that cultural wealth can be seen throughout the entire city. The greatest concentration of monuments and museums is in the Historical Quarter, which makes it the best point to start any visit to Zaragoza: from the grandiosity of the Roman Empire, with its Public Thermal Baths, the River Port, the Theatre or the underground Roman Forum Museum, to the Mudejar legacy (artistic style that was declared World Heritage) in the San Salvador Cathedral, “La Seo”, a temple which also combines a magnificent mixture of Roman, Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque styles; the churches of San Pablo or La Magdalena, and the Aljaferia Palace, a symbol of the city’s Muslim past. Strolling through the streets of the old quarter, you will discover the Renaissance style of the city: present in buildings such as La Lonja or the Patio de la Infanta. A route that will not disappoint you must include the Renaissance palaces of Zaragoza such as the Real Maestranza, the palace of the Counts of Morata, Arnijo or Sastago. And to finish the visit on a high note, next to the river the impressive Basilica de Nuestra Señora del Pilar rises up, a gem of Spanish Baroque style and magnificent sanctuary of the Marian Route.

Zaragoza is a very active city. You can enjoy an exceptional programme of classical, contemporary or jazz music in the Auditorium; as well as international musicals and concerts in the Convention Centre of Zaragoza. Contemporary dance and Latin music cultural

festivals, or international folklore meetings as well as other artistic events are held throughout the whole year.

Furthermore, the city offers an interesting repertoire of plays and performances of difference genres of music and dance, at the Teatro Principal, the Teatro del Mercado, the Teatro Arbolé, the Teatro de la Estacion, or Teatro de las Esquinas theatres.

Leisure and sport

Zaragoza is a very lively, festive and dynamic city to be enjoyed during the day and night. In the “Luis Buñuel” Water Park you can go horse riding, play golf or do rafting without leaving the city. Zaragoza nightlife will not disappoint you with its great variety of terraces, bars, live music, cabaret and concerts-bars, as well as other shows.

Zaragoza celebrates several popular festivities throughout the year: San Valero, patron saint of the city, Carnival, Cincomarzada (5 March), Easter, festival of international tourist interest, and of course the Festivities of the Pilar, in the middle of October, which are the dearest and most celebrated ones. At that time of the year, the city doubles its population and the festival hits the streets both day and night.

Gastronomy

Eating in Zaragoza will make you want to lick your fingers. The region’s culinary tradition is based on products from the Ebro Valley market garden: seasonal vegetables and garden produce with incredible taste and texture, and on products such as Aragonese lamb, Teruel ham, sausages like “longaniza” or “morcilla” (black pudding) and the four Aragonese wine Denominations of Origin: Cariñena, Borja, Calatayud and Somontano, as well as Cava. The extensive restaurant offer – some of which have Michelin stars – is not going to disappoint you, as it covers the whole range of specialities that exist in the market, from the most avant-

garde and innovative to the more traditional and local cuisine.

If you prefer, you can go for “tapas”. The Tubo and the Historical Quarter are two of the main areas where all your senses will be satisfied and where you will discover why Zaragoza is one of the best places in Spain to enjoy the typical pleasure of “having tapas”.

New Zaragoza

The 2008 Expo represented an opportunity for Zaragoza to modernise many of its structures and commit to innovation, transforming it into a new city that looks to the future. In this setting, you can enjoy the Bridge Pavilion, the Pritzker Prize winning work of Zaha Hadid and one of the few bridges in the world that can be inhabited: the Water Tower shaped like a vertical drop of water; the fantastic Volunteers’ Footbridge or the River Aquarium, the largest in Europe and with more than 5000 specimens of 300 different species originating from rivers such as the Nile or the Amazon. In summer, the Expo area becomes the best setting for artistic performances and festivities. Furthermore, in Costa Chica, the Playas (beaches) of Zaragoza, you can enjoy the entire summer period. Take advantage of it when you come.

Eco-city

Zaragoza is an “eco-city” that commits to the environment and sustainability in its everyday activities. A clear example of this is the promotion of the tram and the increasing use of bicycles as a transport means in the city, the creation of urban market gardens and the commitment to recover the Ebro river banks. The Green Ring offers the possibility of going for a pleasant walk or bike ride around Zaragoza, one of the Spanish cities with the highest percentage of green areas per inhabitant. In the surrounding areas you can

visit curious places with great ecological value such as Los Galachos (oxbow lakes) of Juslibol or La Alfranca, and you can also programme trips to nearby places of great natural beauty.

Arts: From Goya to ETOPIA

Zaragoza is a home of artists and a constant focal point for a varied and intense cultural activity. Francisco de Goya is the most well-known Aragonese artist and his work can be seen in places such as El Pilar, La Cartuja de Aula Dei, the Museum of Zaragoza and the Goya Museum-Ibercaja Collection, the artistic centre that houses the most works by Goya after the Prado Museum. Great artists such as Pablo Serrano or Pablo Gargallo also have their own Museum spaces in the city.

Nowadays, our creators use the street as a canvas to express their ideas and commit to recuperating forgotten spaces in the city with avant-garde artistic proposals. An example of this cultural offer is the International Festival of Urban Art (ASALTO) which every year inundates the streets of the Old Quarter of Zaragoza with a real mixed bag of ideas. Another new art and culture offer that you must visit in Zaragoza is ETOPIA, which is the Centre for Art and Technology, housing an extensive offer of innovative and up-to-the-minute artistic projects. For another vision of contemporary culture and art, we suggest you visit the Centro de Historias of Zaragoza, a cultural and artistic centre installed in an old restored convent.
