“WHY AM I A.M.E.

First of all, we need to establish three major truths as the basis of our discussion:I. A.M.E. is a denomination within the Christian Faith.II. A.M.E. is not better than any other denomination, rather it is unique, based

on its mission and collective individuals calling

III. A.M.E. is a denomination that is made up of people of similar spiritual gifts, talents and divine appointed missions since 1787.

The Mission of the African Methodist Episcopal Church is to minister to the spiritual, intellectual, physical, emotional, and environmental needs of all people by spreading Christ’s liberating gospel through word and deed. At every level of the Connection and in every local Church, the African Methodist Episcopal Church shall engage in carrying out the spirit of the original Free African Society, out of which the A.M.E. Church evolved:

(1) preaching the gospel:

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and

of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded

you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Matthew 28:19-20

“WHY AM I A.M.E.(1) preaching the gospel:

“Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage-with great patience and careful instruction. For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths. But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of your ministry.”

2 Timothy 4:2-5
