2020 Calendar of Events

Hillforest Victorian House Museum opens for 64th tour-

ing season

Wednesday, April 1, NEW HOURS! 11:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.

Hillforest Victorian House Museum, 213 Fifth Street, Aurora

Admission charged. Hillforest was the home of industrialist

and financier Thomas Gaff and his family between 1855 and

1891. The historic home is listed on the National Register of

Historic Places and was designated a National Historic Land-

A Final Farewell; the Last Dinner aboard the Titanic

On the night of April 14, 1912, in the last hours before the

Titanic struck the iceberg, passengers in all classes were en-

joying unprecedented luxuries. Innovations in food, drink,

and decor made this voyage the apogee of Edwardian ele-

gance. Sample selections from “The Last Dinner” and learn

more about that fateful night in April. White Star Line mem-

orabilia and artifacts on display. Edwardian dress option-

Clearinghouse Volunteers for the Food Pantry

Need someone from 9:30 to 1:00 to help clients get their groceries for the month. Sometime stock shelves. The volunteer walks around with the client assisting them to get the right amount and is responsible for getting the meat selection out of the freezer for them. Usually around 9:30 the donations for the day arrive and volunteers help to bag them up in smaller quantities.

Two locations: George St. in Aurora (Mon & Tue) and

Short St. (Wed) in Lawrenceburg. Highpoint Health

Needs for volunteers are unlimited for the front desk, messenger, and gift shop. Volunteer orientation is conducted by the hospital.

Prayer Shawls: Shawls can be knitted or crocheted and meas-ure 24X60. Use you own pattern. Yarn is available at the RSVP office. A great group project!

Gowns: Gowns are needed for demised infants.

Local Hospice Looking for volunteers to provide companionship in patient’s home. Also need volunteers to make or donate the following items: neck pillows, walker caddies, wheel chair caddies, caps, hats, card program. Call RSVP 812 539-4005

Teachers, Schools and Students Are you interested in making a difference? We encourage you to volunteer to help various area schools, teachers and students . Lots of opportunities such as reading to children, review student work, work in the classroom with students, tutoring, and clerical work. Call us for information about the different schools, different ages, and jobs that are needed. RSVP 812 539-4005

RSVP Ongoing Projects Volunteer!!!!! We need you!!!!!

Pen Pal Project: Join our Pen Pal Program. Exchange letters with elementary school children. Fun and rewarding. Meet your student at the Pen Pal Picnic at the end of the school year.

CEP: Volunteers are needed to assemble learning games for the Curriculum Enhancement Program elementary education pro-jects. Material is supplied and many projects can be done at home. If Elementary Education is your perk, you are very much needed to help assemble the games to cover mandatory curricu-lum areas. This is a year round project.

Help the Teachers: RSVP collates student workbooks for the teachers each year. Help is needed. Have fun, meet other volun-teers and help teachers at the same time!

Recycle: Remember to save your ink cartridges, cancelled post-age stamps, pop tabs, used greeting cards, rechargeable batter-ies, old eye glasses, screw on bottle caps and old cell phones. Just bring them to the RSVP office. Did you know, if you recycle items at home such as paper, cans, glass, and donation items you can report your time to RSVP.

Military: Homeless Veterans sleeping Mats

crochet them together .
