WHY SGH?

EDUCATION AT WARSAW SCHOOL OF ECONOMICS
3 – year Bachelor’s studies (I degree) – six-semester full-time or part-time studies in Polish
and six-semester full-time studies in English.
2 – year Master’s studies (II degree) – for graduates with at least a bachelor’s degree, full-
time or part-time studies in Polish and six-semester full-time studies in English.
3 – year Doctoral studies – full-time or extra-mural doctoral studies in Polish, English
Doctoral Programme in Mangement and Economics.
Postgraduate studies – in English Canadian Executive MBA, Executive Studies in
Finance and Innovative Management Programme and over 140 programmes in Polish
language.

MANAGEMENT
Bachelor Programme in Management provides theoretical and practical knowledge in the
field of management and related sciences concerning the nature, regularities and
problems connected with the operation of an organization.
The studies develop the skills necessary to start a career as a specialist or middle
manager in a variety of organizations, including businesses, non- profit organizations,
public administration units and local self-government at various levels or doing business.
Students will be given the opportunity of choosing between two specialisations:
- project management,
- entrepreneurship.
PROGRAMME MANAGEMENT
Core courses: International Economics, Finance, Macroeconomics, Mathematics,
Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Economic and Social Policy, Accounting, Statistics etc.
Specialization Courses:
1. Project Management: Budgeting, Monitoring and Controlling in Project
Management, Financial Engineering in Project Management, Investment Project
Evaluation, Project Feasibility Study, Project Risk and Value Management
2. Entrepreneurship: Corporate Financial Liquidity Management, Entrepreneurship
Training, Labour Law, Risk Management in Integrated Management Systems, Tax and
Non-Tax Corporate Burden
INTERNATIONAL ECONOMICS
Bachelor Programme in International Economics (IE) enables students to understand
and analyze the international environment and context in which private enterprises and
public institutions are operating.
Students are offered the opportunity of choosing two specialisations:
- Economics of Central and Eastern Europe
- International Business Management.
The programme gives students an opportunity to graduate with truly global mindset and
ability to understand and efficiently perform in international economic environment.
PROGRAMME INTERNATIONAL ECONOMICS
Core courses: International Economics, Finance, Economic Geography or Economic
History, European Integration, Theory of State, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics,
Mathematics etc.
Specialization Courses:
1. Economics of Central and Eastern Europe: Transition Economics, Transnational
Corporations, Business in Central and Eastern Europe, Poland in European Union,
European Economics.
2. International Business Management: Business Ethics, International Accounting,
IT in Business Strategy, Legal Aspects of Marketing in the European Union, Marketing
of Places, Polish Companies in the European Union.
QUANTITATIVE METHODS IN ECONOMICS AND
INFORMATION SYSTEMS
Bachelor Programme in the area of QMEIS provides students with fundamentals of
economy, finance and management as well as with the set of analytically oriented
courses in information and management sciences.
Based on the core courses two specializations are offered, enabling creation of
professional profile of innovative and creative analyst.
Graduates are prepared to wide use of quantitative analyses supported by computers
in solving decision problems in complex managerial global environment.
PROGRAMME OF QMEIS
Core courses: International Economics, Finance, Economic Geography or Economic
History, European Integration, Theory of State, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics,
Mathematics etc.
Specialization Courses:
1. Econometrics: Time Series Analysis and Forecasting, Financial Econometrics,
Applied Econometrics or Econometric Theory, Econometric Modeling in
Microeconomics.
2. Decision Analysis Methods: Decision Rules, Optimization Methods, Simulations in
Spreadsheets, Econometric Modeling in Microeconometrics.

INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS
International Business has been designed for people thinking about international careers
and willing to broaden theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of international
business and related areas.
The programme offers two specialisations:
International Business Management – is focused on the management in the
international environment, taking into account all the important aspects of modern
business management as well as trends shaping the global corporate activity.
Business in CEE - has been designed to reflect the peculiarity of the CEE environment
and to acquaint the students with the current developments in the most promising markets
of today’s European economy.

FINANCE AND ACCOUNTING

Qualification Warsaw School of Economics (SGH) in cooperation with Ernst & Young
Poland
Our Master’s studies in Finance and Accounting at the Warsaw School of Economics
(SGH) provide:
• finance oriented knowledge which enlarges the knowledge of financial management of
business entities, including financial institutions,
• expert knowledge giving good basis to exercise professional work and to continue
further education,
• competencies that enable work as an expert or manager in a given field of finance or
accounting or business self-employment,
• certified/licensed qualifications in Poland and abroad with preparation to take up the
Phd studies.
FINANCE AND ACCOUNTING
The programme is accredited by ACCA and offers full support and resources to enable
candidates to complete their ACCA examinations before they graduate from university.
The programme is led by Warsaw School of Economics (SGH) and Ernst & Young Poland
and it is intensive, interactive and case study based. This is a full time programme.

RULES OF ADMISSION AT SGH
Bachelor Studies: Secondary School – Leaving Certificate
Secondary School – Leaving Certificate obtained abroad should be legalized or endorsed
with an apostille, and acknowledged as equivalent to a Polish secondary school-leaving
certificate in accordance with nostrification regulations or international agreements.
Master Studies: Higher Education Diploma at the Bachelor’s level or higher
Higher Education Diploma obtained abroad should be legalized or endorsed with an
apostille, and acknowledged as equivalent to a Polish diploma in accordance with Polish
regulations or international agreements.
APPLICATION FOR STUDIES
• Application to SGH Rector for admission to studies via internet registration
system in accordance with the enrolment schedule
• Submission of documents in accordance with the enrolment schedule
IMMIGRATION PROCEDURE
Students of non-EU/EEA countries can enter Poland on the basis of a valid travel
document and a visa.
Students must obtain a visa from the Polish consulate in his/her country of residence.
Documents required to obtain a visa:
- valid passport
- visa application form
- letter of acceptance from SGH
- Intention Letter guaranteeing the accomodation during the whole length of stay
- Proof of health insurance
- Two recent photos
- Other supporting documents
DOCUMENTS FOR QUALIFYING PROCEDURE
• On-line application to the SGH Rector for admission to studies
• Secondary School – Leaving Certificate and for MA studies also Higher Education
Diploma (legalized or endorsed with an apostille, with certified translation into Polish)
• photocopy of passport or other administrative ID
• photocopy of a visa, a residence card or another document entitling a foreigner to stay
within the Republic of Poland
• photocopy of the insurance policy for the period of education in Poland or declaration
on joining the National Health Fund immediately after starting studies
• a medical certificate confirming lack of contraindications to under take studies together
with a cerified translation into Polish
• Document confirming the knowledge of English
1. Certificate in Advanced English (CAE), Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE),
Certificate in English for International Business and Trade (CEIBT)
2. Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) – at least 87 points in the
Internet-Based Test (iBT) version or at least 180 points in the Computer-Based Test
(CBT) version
3. Spoken English Test (SET) for Business: Stage C "Mastery" level
4. London Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI): English for Business Level 3,
English for Business Level 4.
5. International English Language Testing System (IELTS) – over 6 points
