Work Experiences

NOVEMBER 2010 – PRESENT, SENIOR GEOSCIENTIST, GDF SUEZ GROUP, EGYPT

• Responsible for prospect generation and maturation in West El-Burullus Concession, Western Nile Delta, Egypt. We created many leads and prospects within the Pliocene and Miocene sequences that ranged from deltaic to deepwater reservoirs utilizing the seismic direct hydrocarbon indicators (DHIs) interpretation, seismic sequence stratigraphy and reservoir geophysics concepts. We made risk assessment Based on these analyses; several high grad drillable prospects have been generated and maturated for drilling. This work started from 3D seismic interpretation, mapping, time to depth conversion, rock physics analysis, in-house seismic inversion and well planning.

• Interpreted and analyze multi-azimuth 3D seismic data sets to delineate the subtle stratigraphic features/elements especially below the Messinain anhydrite and to generate regional maps of the interested events/horizons.

• Responsible for development of two Pliocene gas discoveries in the West El-Burullus Concession, Western Nile Delta, Egypt. We created pre-stack simultaneous elastic inversion models to generate elastic properties that could help to delineate the changes in the facies and petrophysical properties. Also we used the seismic sequence stratigraphy and the seismic geomorphology concepts to delineate the depositional architectural elements of these two reservoirs and integrate the results with the seismic inversion products. We achieved these goals that helped to optimize the locations of the upcoming development wells.

• Created comprehensive rock physics models for different stratigraphic levels to understand the possible characteristics of the gas-bearing reservoirs within these sequences and to investigate the effect of pore fluid type/saturation, porosities, clay content and pressure on the seismic acoustic and elastic prosperities.

• Built AVO synthetic models to link the changes in the rock properties to the changes in the pre- and post-stack seismic signatures as well as the AVO attributes such as intercept, gradient and reflectivity.

• Key member of the Nile Delta new opportunities team which responsible for evaluation of the bid round and farm-in blocks in the western and eastern Nile Delta in both onshore and offshore portions.

• A key member of the new venture team which responsible to evaluate/rank the onshore opportunities in the Western Desert and Gulf of Suez for conventional and un-conventional plays. This work includes 3D and 2D seismic interpretation to generate regional and semi-regional maps and convert those maps into depth domains.

• Basin analysis studies for several basins in the Western Desert including source rock evaluation, hydrocarbon migration modeling and structure restoration studies.

• Representative of the GDF SUEZ Group in many scientific seminars around the world (Norway, France and the Netherlands) to show several case studies and the lesson learned from them.

DECEMBER 2009 – NOVEMBER 2010, GEOPHYSICIST, PGNIG GROUP, EGYPT

• Key member of the work team who responsible for prospect generation in Bahariya Concession, Western Desert, Egypt. Many leads have been generated within several sequences utilizing the interpretation of 2D seismic data sets.

• Integrated the geophysical potential fields (gravity and magnetic) with the available 2D seismic data sets to delineate the basement-related faults and to estimate the depth to basement.

DECEMBER 2006 – NOVEMBER 2009, DEVELOPMENT GEOPHYSICIST, BG/RASHPETCO J.V., EGYPT

• Responsible for development of the Pliocene Sequoia gas field in the West Delta Deep Marine (WDDM) area, Western Nile Delta, Egypt. We applied the complete workflow to this field starting from 3D seismic interpretation through seismic spectral decomposition and geomorphology. We carried out different kind of seismic (post- and pre-stack) inversion models to delineate the changes in the facies and rock parameters within this very complicated field to optimize the development well locations to drill the good quality thick gas-bearing sand and to avoid the penetration of the perched water leg(s). We obviously succeed to develop the whole field with the lowest number of wells (only six) and produce the most gas volume from it.

• Created comprehensive seismic geomorphologic studies of many of gas fields in the WDDM area, Western Nile Delta, Egypt to delineate the depositional architectural elements of these reservoirs to understand the static connectivity of their parties which affect the development plans and number of development wells.

Page 5: Ahmed Hafez_CV_V1

• Generated new prospects within the Upper Miocene section below the Sapphire gas field, and within the Early Pliocene section below the Simian gas field in the WDDM area, western Nile Delta, Egypt. We created these prospects by the integration between the seismic DHI interpretation, spectral analysis and seismic stratigraphy concepts.

• QC representative geophysicist assisting in all internal/external seismic inversion projects since 2008 till the November 2009.

• Representative Rashpetco in many technical meetings with the partners and contractors.
