About Institute
Walchand College of Engineering (WCE), Sangli is one of the oldest engineering colleges in the state of Maharashtra. It was established in 1947, as New Engineering College with Civil Engineering degree program and renamed in 1956 as Walchand College of Engineering. WCE is a preferred choice of students in the state because of its academic reputation and placement record. About 2500 students are currently realizing their dreams of quality engineering education leading to Degree, Post Graduate and Diploma qualifications. The campus is spread over 90-acres of land with serene surroundings. The college has hostel accommodation for about 600 students (400 Boys and 200 Girls). The college has a record of 100% placement of eligible students for the past three years.
Walchand College of Engineering is a private college receiving partial grant-in-aid from Government. The degree programs of the college are affiliated to Shivaji University, Kolhapur and approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). Walchand College of Engineering has been granted Autonomous status and is functioning as an Autonomous College from academic year 2007-08. It now offers B. Tech. and M. Tech. degrees under autonomous curriculum based on semester system and grading as followed in IITs. Post autonomy, the institute has carried out various reforms to improve the quality of education in the institute.
Walchand College of Engineering, Sangli was selected in 2004 for the Government of India scheme funded by the World Bank under Technical Education Quality Improvement Program (TEQIP). Now TEQIP II program is in progress with Rs. 12.5 Cr. grant received.
Walchand College of Engineering aims to be a world class institution. In 2009, WCE has commissioned world's leading design and planning firm HOK Design and Planning Services (India) Pvt. Ltd. HOK has masterplanned many University campuses in the US. The WCE Campus Masterplan is now in final stage with inputs from the Chairman and members of the Administrative Council, Faculty, staff, students and alumni. It is proposed to develop the entire campus in three phases spread over next 10 to 15 years. WCE is in talks with experts to significantly revamp its academic programs, laboratories and administrative systems. Under the able leadership of Chairman Mr. AJit Gulabchand, WCE aims to become a self sustaining World class institute.
About Department
Department of Electronics Engineering was established in 1986 to offer both graduate and post graduate programs. At present it runs full time programs of Diploma (Industrial Electronics), B. Tech. (Electronics) and M. Tech (Electronics). The department has various well-equipped laboratories in the area of Communication Engineering, Electronic Design and Automation, Power Electronics, VLSI/DSP, Instrumentation and Control Engineering etc. The department enjoys well-qualified and experienced faculty in full strength. It has been accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA) for 5 years in 2007. The department has received grants of about Rs. 3.2 Cr. from various government agencies like AICTE, DST, DRDO etc

Faculty members from AICTE recognized Engineering colleges / Polytechnics as well as Industry personnel are eligible to participate.
The selected participants from academic institutions will be paid TA as per rules on producing tickets in originals along with free boarding and lodging at institute hostel or guest house.

The objective of this Faculty Development Program is to give exposure to faculty members in the subject of VLSI design, fundamental principles of VLSI circuit design, to examine the basic building blocks of large-scale digital integrated circuits, and to provide hands-on design experience with softwares like Xlinix, Modelsim, Mentor- Graphics, Microwind etc.
