Q: I am an international student, can I go on exchange?

FAQ FrequentlyAskedQuestions

A: Yes. The only exception is that international students can’t go on internships to the country in which they have citizenship, as it would not classify as a cultural exchange.

Q: What is the minimum GPA required for going on exchange?

A: No minimum GPA is required

Q: When do I have to pay the admission fee of $600 / $750?

A: Upon sitting the Member Review Board (to determine if you are a suitable AIESEC Macquarie ambassador), you will need to make a deposit of $50 which is non-refundable should you fail the Member Review Board twice. You will be noti!ed of when to pay the remaining $550/$700 once you have successfully passed the Member Review Board.

Q: Will I be charged an application fee if I apply and I am not accepted?

A: No, applications for the GO VOLUNTEER/ GO TEACH exchange program are free of charge (after you have successfully passed the Member Review Board)

Q: Are internships paid/unpaid?

A: Aside from the GO TEACH internships, the GO VOLUNTEER internships are generally unpaid. However, in most programs you will receive a stipend or have your accommodation, food and transport costs covered depending on your program’s speci!cations.

Q: Who will help me when I arrive in my host country?

A: AIESECers in the host country are typically the ones who will help pick you up in the airport and help you settle in. Support will also be provided from AIESEC Macquarie in terms of contact purposes in case of emergency.

Q: Does AIESEC internships have a language requirement?

A: This depends on the project. However, most programs only necessitates basic English is necessary.

Q: Can I go with a friend?

A: Due to the limited number of interns for each program, it is unlikely that we will be able to match you to the same program as your friend.  Going to the same country, however, is more likely. Besides, AIESEC encourages that those who are going on exchange with us to do so individually. Our programs are focused on self development and you will only get the most of this experience if you are outside of your comfort zone! If you are worried about being alone, chances are you'll be working with interns from all around the world, as well as AIESECers in that city!
