PROBE CARE: Looking after your wash probes

CAUTION: The probes should be handled carefully and stored in the following manner to avoid damage.

When returning probes to the correct compartment in the stowage box theyshould be placed ‘top to tail’ into the supplied equipment bag after drainingthem thoroughly.

NOTE: Storage boxes are supplied in one of two standard sizes dependent onthe size of probes ordered:

Small: (h) 39” x (w) 24” x (d) 151⁄2” Large: (h) 481⁄2” x (w) 24” x (d) 151⁄2”

STEP 1: Probe fitment to engine.

When first fitting the probes,slightly slacken off the socketheaded cap screws (E) (usingthe allen key provided) andslacken off the bracket clampingknob (B).

Loosen clamping screw (A)sufficiently for the thread to leavethe channel in bracket (C) clear.

Guide the probes through the fan outlet guide vanes from the rear of the engine atapproximately the 4.00 and 8.00o'clock positions keeping theprobe as level as possible andposition the hook in the boosterinlet as shown in Fig. 2.

CAUTION: Ensure that the engine fan is held securely during fittingof the engine ‘j’ hook probes.

STEP 2: Probe fitment with thrust reverser doors open.

Swing bracket (C) into positionover the thrust reverser door ring(see Fig.1) and gently tightenclamping screw (A).

Using the hand holding the probein position, gently slide the bracket(D) along the probe until it butts upagainst the thrust reverser door ringand tighten the socket headed capscrews. Lastly, re-tighten clampingknob (B) once the probe is secure.

Note: Once this initial set-up of theprobes is completed, subsequentfittings should not require theseadjustments.

Important: Remember to checkfrom the front of the engine thatthe probe hooks are seatedsnugly in the booster as shownand are safely clear of the fan.
