“The air cargo industry cannot afford to be complacent. To address the competitive pressures facing air cargo, the industry challenged itself in 2014 to meet an important objective by 2020: seeking to optimize the air cargo supply chain for every commodity type transported by air to provide shippers with greater transparency, reliability and predictability.”

MODERNIZATION – AN AIR CARGO PRIORITY

Page 7: Airline, Track & Trace - Cargo Visibility

Transparency is not only about prices, but also about quality of service. Shippers highlighted the need to invest in tracking capabilities to get real-time information and accurate data about the transportation process. This is particularly important for time sensitive, vulnerable and valuable goods. “We need transparency with better tracking and tracing of cargo and shorter communication links.” “Possibility for tracing shipment from exporter to final destination will be ideal and better EDI feed to assist it.” “When something goes wrong, it takes time to get the information.” Read the report.

#4 – Strengthening the Value Proposition of Air Cargo - The industry must seek to optimize the air cargo supply chain for every commodity type transported by air to provide shippers with greater transparency, reliability and predictability. Such industry optimization will help to not just protect the value proposition of air cargo, but will enhance it. One goal of supply chain optimization could be the reduction of the average end-to-end shipping time by 48 hours, where the customer so demands.

IATA PRIORITY # 4

By using ShipTrack’s EDI-compatible order processing engine a transportation firm was able to reduce order processing time by 31%.

ShipTrack consolidates and displays data collected in real-time about any shipment’s movement globally by airline employees, airline partners or road-based carriers. Chain of custody tracking provides up-to-the-minute visibility for accountability and compliance processes.

ShipTrack can process any item in transit that, ideally, has been barcoded. Automatic notifications and electronic, signed proof of deliveries ensure customers and

carriers know where shipments are every step of the way.

#6 – Modernizing Air Cargo The vision is to have a paperless industry, able to rely on high-quality data available on demand by all relevant stakeholders, and to offer full visibility and transparency to air cargo customers. The airline industry was once a pioneer in the use of advanced technology. Unfortunately, processes and technology used by air cargo stakeholders have modernized very little in the last decades and air cargo must now catch up to improve cumbersome procedures.. ShipTrack eliminates paper and the $20 per sheet lifecycle management cost. All tracking

data collected, including signed proof of deliveries, tracking reference numbers etc is digitally stored and easily accessible by all parties concerned.

Customers have access to all or portions of their shipment details subject to your information-sharing intentions. Self-serve notifications setup provides customers information directly to their mailbox.

The ShipTrack mobile app is available of devices that run iOS, Android or Windows mobile operating systems. The app is a free download and can be learned in ten minutes.

A shipment picked up in Saigon, Vietnam by a local courier firm, traversing multiple air carriers and finally delivered by another courier firm in New York city typically will cost pennies.

IATA PRIORITY # 6

#7 – Improving Quality The air cargo industry needs to create and implement quality standards from end-to-end. “Quality” should be the watchword for the industry in the next five years, and the aim should be to improve the reliability and consistency of its services.

ShipTrack was deployed in 2013, went into full production in 2014 and currently processes in excess of 30,000 daily shipments for some of the world’s most well-known brands. These etailers, 3PL’s, national couriers and leading transportation firms have not only entrusted us to play an active role in the management of their supply chains but also in the way our software helps improve their customers’ loyalty.

ShipTrack’s development was lead by an in-house team of software engineers with extensive experience developing enterprise software for the transportation industry. By leveraging development tools by Microsoft, hosting services by best-of-breed global data center providers and supported 24/7 , we have taken every measure available to ensure maximum uptime and performance for our customers.

ShipTrack processes orders faster, with full visibility and virtual real-time data collection to enable you to focus on what you do best – transporting the world’s cargo.

IATA PRIORITY # 7

#9 – Strengthening Partnerships The industry recognizes that transformation and industry success and sustainability can only be achieved through collaborative efforts. Therefore it is focused on developing partnerships to strengthen air cargo. The transportation industry is built on partnerships. ShipTrack was designed and built to

support collaboration, efficient partnering processes and ease of use. Adding a new partner to your ShipTrack network takes literally minutes and revolves around the following steps:A. Add partner company details – B. Add mobile worker details – C. Issue mobile worker credentials

Partners can be other airlines, transportation firms, courier companies, etc. Partner set up can be hierarchical or peer-peer in nature. Databases can be shared or isolated.

ShipTrack’s pricing structure does not penalize partnerships in fact we reward you whenever partners become ShipTrack customers by applying a percentage of their usage charges as a credit.

ShipTrack tracks and reports on partnership activities to support partner settlements accounting.
