From our President By Bob Daly, President
Jaguar Based on the C-X16 Concept that was shown
last fall at the Frankfurt Auto Show, the new
Jaguar F-Type, unlike its larger XK sibling, is a
true 2-seat sports car as opposed to a 2+2 GT.
2012 Jaguar C-X16 Concept
Last year, Jaguar marked the 50th
anniversary of the debut of the E-type roadster
for the 2011 New York Auto Show. This year,
the British marque is back to announce that it
will build its spiritual successor — the 2014
Jaguar F-Type.
Based on the C-X16 Concept that was shown
last fall at the Frankfurt Auto Show, the new
Jaguar F-Type, unlike its larger XK sibling, is a
true 2-seat sports car as opposed to a 2+2 GT.
According to Adrian Hallmark, global brand
director for Jaguar, the reaction to the C-X16
“has been so positive that we’ve accelerated our
development of an all-new Jaguar sports car.”
Hallmark promised that the car will be available
with a wide range of engine options including
one new power train.
Design Director Ian Callum: “A true sports
car needs to be pure in both its purpose and its
form; to have the opportunity to produce such a
car for Jaguar has been a privilege both for
myself and my team. The C-Type, D-Type and
E-Type Jaguars were all sports cars that held true
to this principal in their era, and the F-Type will
hold true to that same principal in its time, a time
that is soon to arrive.”
Concourse News At our last meeting on Monday, April 30,
Wil Summers, brought us some sad news about
Nalley Jaguar. We have all heard that Nalley
may be going out of the Jaguar car business.
Well now they have decided to sell their Jaguar
franchise to Hennessey.
I have contacted our Concourse Director, JP
Summers, and asked him to begin making calls
to Hennessey and any other car venue that can
take our cars in October.
So if you know of any likely spots, please
give JP Summers a call and let him know.
May 26, AJS 35th

Please plan to be at Erlinda’s home at about
6 PM.
So who’s next to be a speaker….any
volunteers?

Member News By June Mindrup, Health & Hospitality Director
This month’s column will start out with some
super news! AND that is: Fran McNair's
Grandson has just returned from his 4th tour of
overseas duty! Praise the Lord! And would you
believe the future may hold a tour of duty in
Korea! God speed to this courageous and
patriotic soldier.
Alice Thyer had another eye surgery on April
16th. This time it was to remove scar tissue in
the back of her eye and to put another bubble in
her eye. News is that this surgery was much
easier. We wish you well.
Rita and Ted Anderson spent the first week
of April in Gatlinburg, Tennessee attending their
Granddaughter's wedding; we trust that the
mountain city provided beautiful, balmy weather
for this occasion.
Jim and Marcia Foley's daughter and two
boys are moving from Asheville, N.C. to
Marietta. Marcia said "We can't wait!"
Barry and Janet Morgan's Mother recently
celebrated her 90th Birthday in Savannah,
Georgia. To celebrate such a wonderful
occasion, a party was held in her honor.
Lew George will be spending Mother's Day
with his Mom at her home on Perdido Bay.
Rick Duff recently attended a baseball game
and caught a foul ball and ended up in the
Doctor's Office having 9 stitches! Our advice to
you Rick is - next time have a catcher's mitt!
Betty Jean and Rock Spann are going to
Charleston, West Virginia for a visit with their
two grandchildren, Conrad and Hope. Hope will
be in a dance recital and no doubt there will be a
couple of grandparents sitting on the front row.
Dabney Talbott will be spending one week in
Apollo Beach, Florida with some gal friends.
These are not ordinary type of friends - these
friends date back to knowing each other since
elementary school.
Everyone, be sure to mark your calendar for
the 26th of May at Linda McCabe's home. She
had all of us there last year and the typical
Philippine Roast (Whole) Pig dinner was an
event to remember. It was a magnificent party
set in her beautiful home
and garden. This year
will be a repeat and a
real treat. Linda will
provide the roasted pig
and fried rice. Please
bring an appetizer or side dish. The club will
provide wine, beer, soft drinks and water.
Please remember: There will NOT be an AJS
meeting at Aldo's in May due to the Memorial
Day Holiday and only 4 Mondays in May this
year.
Activities Kim Daly, Activities Director
Saturday, May 12th
is the date for the 29th
Atlanta British Motorcar Day. This is the one
day each year all or most of the Atlanta British
car clubs get together to put on a spectacular and
diverse display of cars. Once again, the event
will be held rain or shine at the very beautiful
Berry College in Rome, Georgia.
After taking the pulse of the membership in
regards to this event, it was decided not to attend
as a group. Many of our members have attended
British Motorcar Day for many years, and are
now somewhat reticent about driving all the way
to Rome for the day. If you have not been before
or you just love this venue, I would encourage
you to motor on up to Rome on Saturday and
join in the fun with fellow British car
enthusiasts. You may find all the details
regarding this event at:
www.atlantabritishmotorcarday.com
How about an activity that is close to
home??? Please come to Erlinda McCabe’s
beautiful home on Saturday, May 26th
to
celebrate the 35th
anniversary of the founding of
the Atlanta Jaguar Society. We still have a few
members whose membership dates back to
nearly the beginning. Join us for appetizers and
dinner along with some stories from the old
days. The festivities begin at 6:00 PM. Erlinda
is generously supplying a roast pig and fried rice.
The club will provide wine, beer, soft drinks and
water. Everyone else is asked to bring an
appetizer, side dish or dessert to contribute to the
meal. To join in the fun, please RSVP to
me(Kim Daly) by May 23rd
and let me know
what you will be bringing.
Erlinda’s address is:
3500 Aubusson Trace
Johns Creek 30022.
I’m looking forward to this special evening
with all of you.
Please note the President’s Rally scheduled
for June 23rd
has been postponed until later in the
year. The calendar will be updated throughout
the year, so be sure to check it each month.
