BELIEVE IN A WOMAN.EMPOWER A FAMILY.

TRANSFORM A COMMUNITY.

A note from our founder:At Akola Project we are inspired by the incredible transformations we witness as women are empowered through vocational training and employment. Each season, we design accessories to sell in the global marketplace so we can expand our impact on marginalized women in East Africa through the Akola Project.

Akola jewelry is hand made with care, and has provided hope and opportunity to women and children in need since 2006. Our hand crafted designs are as beautiful as the stories of transformation from the women who make them.

We invite you to join us on this great journey!

-Brittany Merrill Underwood

Community DevelopmentAkola has constructed 2 training centers and drilled 23 water wells in rural Ugandan communities to support economic development.

Vocational TrainingAkola has trained 200 marginalized women who lackeducational and vocational skiils to become artisans so they can care for the 7+ children who live in their homes.

Dependable EmploymentAkola guarentees each woman a monthly income so they can meet the basic needs of their children including food, schooling, medical care and shelter.

Fashionable P roductsAkola jewelry and handbags that compete with for-profit brands in over 250 high-end boutiques.

Savings and LoansAkola facilitates savings and loans associations to encourage women to save 10-30% of their earned income.

Lasting SustainabilityWomen use their Akola income to invest in local businesses to create sustainability for generations to come.
