The year 2017 was a very special yearfor our company. Not only were we able to celebrate our centennial, we alsosaw our business develop very positively.

To enjoy success, you have to keepworking for itHowever, we know that there is no guarantee of success. It has to beachieved over and over again. This applies more than ever nowadays, when so much is changing: the cli-mate, societies, cultures, technologies

Living spaces for generations to comeOn the way to the “Next Generation Family Business”

and markets. So we too must change ifwe want to continue enjoying success.

The transition to renewable energy sources is enabling electric power from wind and sun, as well as sustainably generated synthetic fuels, to take the place of oil and gas as the most import-ant fuel sources. This also means that electricity and heat are merging. Hencethe fuel cell heating system we pres-ented four years ago on the German market as the first of its kind in the

world simultaneously generates heat and electricity – now also with renew-ably generated gas.

Expanding our comprehensive range of productsWhat is more, we are expanding our portfolio of electric heating systems and adding promising new energy and heating solutions, such as electricpanel heating systems and infrared heating systems, to our comprehen-sive range of products.

“We see the new generation mainly as an opportunity for a leap forward in the strategic and cultural development of our company.”

    EDITORIAL

By taking over the smart home special-ist wibutler, we are also growing our offer of digital solutions by adding an open platform for networking various components into smart-home solutions with a single app.

We will continue to develop technol-ogies and innovations in this field, actively bring them to market and be the place to go for integrated solutions in building services technology.

The goal is to improve the entire build-ing-related value added chain in a sustainable, digital manner. That we are moving in the right direction was confirmed by the positive feedback we obtained from the more than 20,000 professional visitors to our stand at the Light + Building in Frankfurt, the world’s leading international fair for lighting and building services, in which we took part as an exhibitor for the first time.

Digitalization opening up new opportunitiesAs long as digitalization continues to progress, we will be able to make good use of the transition to renewable energy sources, and this will enable developments that were inconceivable just a short time ago. Thanks to huge increases in computing power, data processing has now attained unimagin-ed dimensions. New standards have already been set by the availability of low- cost sensors, the nearly unlimited capacity of cloud computing and the speed of broadband internet that can be used everywhere. This is making future digital technologies, such as ar-tificial intelligence and virtual reality, ac-cessible and useable across industries.

Networked products and services related to energyFor Viessmann, this means that after standing mainly for heat generation and distribution for 100 years, our responsi-bility now and in the future will have to go much further. We will increasingly

be offering heating as a comprehensive service, and we will be developing net-worked products and services related to energy. In the end, intelligent energy management will mean that homes will be able to enjoy even more comfortable and pleasant room conditions while not only using less energy, but also generating energy at the same time. Most importantly, this will enable us to make a key contribution to conserving resources and protecting the climate.

Spaces for future generations to live inThis will give a new meaning to our activities, a meaning we summarize with the concept “we create living spaces for generations to come”. This applies to everything from smart homes to saving the planet, and not only makes new technical and profes-sional demands, but also and primarily requires a new culture. A culture that creates more scope for creativity and innovation.

Thus, the new generation taking charge at Viessmann will be the engine of further development on the way to the Next Generation Family Business. It is especially advisable for family busi-nesses like ours to make use of the

competence of the upcoming gener-ation to successfully manage change. We recognize our responsibility – not only for more than 12,000 employees around the world, but also for our trade partners – because we can only achieve success together. Finally, we also recognize our responsibility to the environment and the climate. It is clear to us that closing our mind to change or failing to realize its consequences will endanger our livelihood and even our very existence.

However, there is something that still holds true despite all the changes: the strong partnership between manu-facturers and specialist installers. This is the foundation on which we will shape the future together.

Bearing this in mind, I hope that we can enjoy a successful season together in the autumn.

    Prof. Dr. Martin Viessmann

Viessmann’s production is already making use of augmented reality in servicing and maintenance work.

Electricity and heating are merging. In the future, electricity from renewable sources will become the main energy used to heat rooms and water. The modern Vitotherm flow heaters only use electricity when hot water is called for. The new electric Vitoplanar heating systems take up very little space and can be used in many ways, both in new and existing buildings. In order to be able to quickly build up a portfolio of electric heating systems, Viessmann entered into a collaboration with the Austrian manufacturer ETHERMA, one of the leading companies making electric heating systems.

By acquiring this interest, Viessmann is adding new, promis-ing energy and heating solutions to its comprehensive range of products. Hence the product portfolio will include not only electric floor heating systems, but also infrared heating systems and direct heating devices, as well as the related control technology. As with comparable involvements in years past, the goal is to tie the core competence of the new

Viessmann acquiring an interest in heating specialist ETHERMA

partner company into the worldwide distribution network of the Viessmann Group in order to achieve faster growth. ETHERMA will also have an opportunity to grow more rapidly, since the distribution channels and product portfolio comple-ment one another perfectly.

Etherma – experts for electric heating systems is based in Henndorf am Wallerdorf.

Great success for Viessmann. The short film made for the company’s centennial has won the 2018 German Prize for Online Communication.

The film “premiered” last year at the inauguration of the new Viessmann Innovation Center and was then shown at a large number of events, both for customers and in-house. One special detail and a clear sign of the company’s future orientation is that the fifth generation to take Viessmann’s helm is female.

The German Prize for Online Communication is awarded each year by “pressesprecher” magazine and Quadria Media GmbH and covers five main categories with more than fifty subcategories – including one called “image film,” where Viessmann came out the winner. Many representatives from the digital and communications industries were on hand for the award ceremony held in the creative metropolis of Berlin in mid-June.

This competition has been honoring outstanding achieve -ment by organizations in the area of digital communications since 2011. This year, a total of 700 projects were submitted.

Digital Energy Solutions GmbH & Co. KG, a joint venture between Viessmann and the BMW Group, is now making it easier for public utilities to get into electromobility and offering help en-hancing competence in the form of a sales portal that takes a co-branding approach. The services offered by Digital Energy Solutions to public utilities and energy service providers include for one thing individual consultancy regarding the choice and installation of appropriate charging hardware. In addition, there is a choice of various accounting solutions and a professional mainten-ance service on offer. These services are particularly relevant to energy service providers who equip entire areas and districts with charging solutions, as well as for public utilities with corporate customers looking for solutions in the area of public operation of charging infrastructures, intelligent load management or home charging processes for company cars.

In addition, there is an opportunity to offer so-called pre-installation checks online on your own website. After a customer has made an online order, qualified electricians check on site whether the desired charging solutions can be effectively and smoothly in-stalled. Among the first partners making use of Digital Energy Solutions’ co-branding solution is Badische Energie-Servicegesellschaft.

Charging infrastructure for public spaces is the business of Digital Energy Solutions GmbH.

The efficient, environmentally friendly ESyCool green energy system from Viessmann Kühlsysteme GmbH has been awarded the German Innovation Prize for Climate and the Environment, IKU for short. The IKU Award is presented every two years by the Federal Ministry of the Environment, Nature Conservation and Reactor Safety together with the Bundes -verband der Deutschen Industrie (Federation of German Industries). It rewards innovations from the fields of business and research that explore new avenues of climate and environ-mental protection. The ESyCool green system developed by Viessmann in collaboration with ALDI Nord won first place in the “Process Innovation for Cli-mate Protection” category. The award was accepted in Berlin by Joachim Janssen, Co-CEO of the Viessmann Group, from State Secretary for the Environment Jochen Flasbarth. Janssen said, “In the future, we will continue our great commitment to developing energy solutions that help conserve the natural environment for coming generations.”

This new type of air conditioning and heat supply for supermarkets not only saves considerably on energy con-sumption, but also distinctly reduces CO2. ESyCool green even enables markets to achieve zero emissions – one of the great sustainability goals in the food retail industry.

“We are delighted at receiving the award, which again underscores how innovative our system is. After all, it has features that are unique on the market – especially with regard to the topic of ice energy storage,” says Frank Winters, CEO of Viessmann Refriger-ation Solutions. The main focus of ESy-Cool green (Energy System for Cooling applications) is on refrigeration, which accounts for more than fifty percent of the electricity used by supermarkets. The heart of this new type of combined cooling/heating system are brine-water heat pumps that run on the natural refrigerant R290 (propane) in small, hermetically sealed cooling circuits. This innovative heat pump technology enables savings of about 95 percent on refrigerant.

    NEXT GENERATION FAMILY BUSINESS

Expediting the transformation to a “Next Generation Family Business”Responsibility goes far beyond providing heat

    7

I t was a clear, strong signal that Max Viessmann sent to the large Viessmann family. At the in-house Leadership Summit at the end of the anniversary year of 2017, he put the company’s new line of approach front and center. “Even though Viessmann has primarily stood for heat for the past century, our responsibility goes much further: We are creating living spaces for generations to come“, he declared.

This new formulation of the mission statement to start Viessmann off into its new century has an impact on all levels of the company. For instance, Viessmann is making it possible for people all over the world to have a

pleasantly air-conditioned, comfortable home. At the same time, they can save energy, conserve resources and make a valuable contribution to climate protection. Innovative technology from Viessmann is helping people take responsibility themselves for coming generations and preserve the Earth as a place to live.

Change of generations: key driver of further developmentThe company is continuing to develop rapidly in all areas – and the change of generations planned for the long term is one of the decisive drivers of this rapid development. For a family business, the transition from one generation to the next means an

opportunity to take big leaps forward in terms of strategy and culture. At Viessmann, every effort will be made to take advantage of this opportunity in order to profitably meet the challenges of digitalization and the transition to renewable energy sources.

A strong tailwind helping us sail into the future of the “Next Generation Family Business”The strong figures for the anniversary year and the promising interim result for 2018 are giving the corporate group an even stronger tailwind and creating ideal conditions to push ahead with the transformation to the “Next Generation Family Business.”

Doors can be opened digitally with the help of a smart lock – also with an app.

The entire heating, refrigeration and air conditioning industry is under-going a period of upheaval as digitaliz-ation is turning a decadeslong businessmodel on its head. Contact to end customers used to be made mainlythrough local contractors. Today, potential customers are often well informed in advance and come to their installers with specific wishes.

Viessmann supports its trade partners inthis development and is working to-gether with them to strengthen com-munication with end customers in orderto meet these new needs. This enables Viessmann to respond more specificallyto the interests and wishes of peopleand to start developing promising business models right away.

Help creating the living spaces of generations to come with new business modelsCommunication with end customers provides key insights on changing needs

Cary ServicesRecently, the digital impulse generator for Viessmann companies, VC/O, founded the start-up “Cary Services” to help busy people have more time. The

core of the prototype is a smart lockingsystem that gives, say, cleaning and delivery services controlled access to the home. This means that now food can be delivered right to the refrigerator, for instance.

Combining responsibility and dynamismHowever, new strategies and businessmodels have no chance of success if they do not accord with the corporateculture. That is why talented people at Viessmann get the unique opportunityto help design the living spaces of future generations. “In competition for the best minds, the culture that is part of daily life at Viessmann is our unique selling point,” says Co-CEO MaxViessmann. At present, a consistent,

ongoing development is ensuring that a special climate prevails throughout the entire company, one that combines the culture of responsibility that marks a family business with the dynamism of a start-up.

SnukCompany builder WATTx is the part of the Viessmann Group that deals with developing business models in the deep tech area, which includes artificial intelligence, among other things. The first spin-off from WATTx was Snuk in June of 2017. This platform for IoT (Internet of Things) communication within a building complex is intended to be used in airports, hospitals and hotels, as well as other places. An individualized infrastructure links various systems together and ensures that they all run smoothly. In this way, building manage-ment is optimized and transparency enhanced for the operator.

StaticeApril of this year saw the most recent WATTx spin-off: Statice, a system for automatically anonymizing sensitive customer data. Taking account of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Statice enables data to be used for purposes of research and analysis without being traceable back to specific persons. The long-term goal is to promote collaboration between researchers, companies and data scientists.

Better insight into people’s needsViessmann is following a variety of paths into the start-up ecosystem. The idea is to get a better, first-hand insight into people’s needs and into decisive structural changes, including those occurring outside our own industry. And to support promising founders in helping to shape this change. The start-ups develop both technology-driven innovations as well as new business models.

Vito VenturesBy way of the Munich-based venture capital fund Vito Ventures, Viessmann is making targeted investments in B2B deep tech start-ups and tech nologies that are of relevance across various types of industries. Its substantive focus is on artificial intelligence, augmented and virtual reality, autonomous systems and internet security, among other things. Apart from financial participation, Viessmann profits from a com -prehensive insight into technological developments.

ArtisenseThe Vito Ventures portfolio also in-cludes Artisense, a computer vision solution for robotics and autonomous vehicles supported by artificial intelli-gence. The algorithms developed by Artisense enable 3D maps to be drawn up in real time from conventional video recordings. Vehicles and robots can then use these maps to guide their behavior. Artisense technology is distinguished by being extremely precise, flexible and robust.

Vito ONEVito ONE also supports start-ups at a very early phase. In contrast to Vito Ventures, the focus is on start-ups in the area of building, design and energy technology, which intend to digitally and sustainably improve the entire value-added chain of a property. These topics are closer to Viessmann’s core business.

gridXHence gridX is a “digital electricity provider” that not only offers a com-pletely digital change of provider, but also intelligent energy management for the home: the gridBox brings together a large number of systems and applications in the home and thus helps optimize and maximize self-generated electricity, for instance, from fuel cells or photovoltaic systems.

  • 10 V iessmann has been making use of various initiatives to expand its traditional core business with digital solutions and services in order to design living spaces today and in the future. Along with its own develop-ments and venture activities (pp. 8–9 in this issue), acquisitions are also advancing the digitalization of the product portfolio.

Smart home experts supplement digital offeringThis is why Viessmann recently took over wibutler. This company specializes in manufacturer-independent smart home solutions and offers partners in industry a platform for networking different products by way of a single app. More than twenty partners are already on board, including OSRAM, Philips and Wilo. Here specialist installers and trade partners can find help in the form of a comprehensive range of sales support, training and services. Expanding the product and service portfolio gives the trade partners new possibilities for offering their customers integrated smart home

It takes just one system to turn a home into an individualized living space Viessmann takes over Münster-based wibutler

systems. For instance, a lighting concept can also be integrated into such a system along with the heating system. Apart from running the existing wibutler platform, the offering is intended to be further expanded, adding services that are now possible with wibutler hardware and software. Thus Viessmann is aiming to improve the entire value-added chain of a building digitally and sustainably.

In the long term, this takeover will strengthen Münster, the city in which wibutler is based, as a location for busi-ness; management and jobs will be retained. Founded in 2012, wibutler GmbH now employs a staff of 26. In the future, too, the company will continue to act as a strong partner lending its support to industry and trade with the wibutler brand.

The joint objective of Viessmann and wibutler is to establish technologies and innovations in the area of digital building services, actively market them and be a partner to contact for inte-grated solutions in building services.

One app for everything: wibutler combines smart home products from various manufacturers with the aid of a platform that is very intuitive to use.

The wibutler pro is the centerpiece of a networked home. This intelligent home server communicates with other products in a smart home using various communication standards.

Further enhance system competence“With our commitment to wibutler, we are supplementing Viessmann’s compre-hensive range of products in the promis-ing smart home sector,” says Karlheinz Reitze, responsible for Viessmann’s PV+E Systems division. “So we are further enhancing our system competence and working together to advance the devel-opment of smart home technology with the trade. Together with VC/O, Viessmann’s new digital business, we will constantly be developing digital products and solutions.”

Michael Jüdiges, Managing Director of wibutler GmbH, adds, “With Viessmann, we are continuing the refocusing and restructuring process we began in 2017. Together we can really take off with renewed power.”

Sascha Weiß, CFO at wibutler, says that Viessmann is bringing along its high level of competence and financial clout and wants to further develop the brand and the company. “This strategic interest is the most important building block for a successful future for wibutler,” he says.

    CREATING NEW LIVING SPACES

The new fuel cell heating device Vitovalor PT2 offers a compact system solution for heating and domestic hot water generation.

New fuel cell heating devicesVitovalor PT2 and PA2 with a longer lifespan and longer maintenance intervals

PEM fuel cell, gas condensing peak load boiler and control, as well as a storage tower with a DHW cylinder (220 liters) and a complete hydraulic system. Thanks to the new design with its appealing look, both modules have the same height of 1.8 meters.

Depending on the required peak output, the new fuel cell heating device has a gas condensing boiler with rated out-puts ranging from 11.4 to 30.8 kilowatts. This means the device can also be used without any problems in houses with higher heating loads, such as two-family homes and existing buildings.

Backup solution for already modernized systemsIn addition, there is the Vitovalor PA2 fuel cell module for upgrading systems, for instance, which already have a modern gas condensing boiler.

PEM fuel cell, gas treatment and control are integrated into a compact 1.6-meter-high casing.

More independent thanks to self-generated electricityIn both devices, the Vitovalor PT2 and the Vitovalor PA2, the fuel cell has an electrical output of 750 watts, can run for up to 45 hours without a break and generates up to 18 kilowatt- hours of electricity per day when running without interruption. With these capabilities, a typical household can cover the greater portion of its daily requirement itself and thus become less dependent on the public electricity supply and rising electricity prices. Compared to buying electricity from the grid, the fuel cell heating devices lower energy costs by up to forty percent and cut CO2 emissions nearly in half. The two new devices are

H ighly efficient technology with enhanced performance all around – Vitovalor PT2 and Vitovalor PA2 are the new fuel cell heating devices for supplying electricity and hot water to single- and two-family homes. Now they are laid out for a lifespan of at least 80,000 hours of operation, and their fuel cells only need servicing every five years. This is Viessmann’s response to the high reliability of the new PEM fuel cell. Homeowners will profit not only from being able to make use of the devices for a much longer time, but also from lower service costs.

therefore classified in accordance with the European Energy Efficiency Directive in the highest efficiency category with the label A++.

Control with large color touch display and WLAN interfaceThe fuel cell heating devices can be easily and intuitively operated using the new seven-inch color touch display. Messages in clear text make the dialog easier when reading and adjusting. The color touch display functions as an energy cockpit that provides clearly arranged information on such things as amounts of gas used and electricity produced. This means the operator can always get an overview of the yield and consumption of the fuel cell heating and adjust the settings as needed.

With their integrated WLAN interface as a standard feature, the fuel cell heating devices are ready for remote control by means of a smartphone. The digital service offer of a heating specialist can also be used if desired. The heating specialist can, for instance, use the Vitoguide software tool to take over monitoring the system, identify

possible faults or servicing require-ments early on and take preventive action.

Homeowners who do not want to use the internet to communicate with their fuel cell heating device can take advantage of the option of using a data bus and the Vitotrol 300-C remote (available starting in August 2018) to monitor and control their device.

Subsidies at record heightsInstalling a Vitovalor PT2 fuel cell heating device in Germany is supported by the KfW Banking Group in the amount of 9,300 euros. Anyone who also takes advantage of the lump sum payment for CHP electricity from the German Combined Heat and Power Generation Act (KWKG) gets an addi-tional 1,800 euros – making a total of 11,100 euros altogether.

    CREATING NEW LIVING SPACES

Builders who have a Vitovalor fuel cell heating device installed can save up to forty percent on energy costs compared to conventional ways of supplying electricity and heat. In Germany, they can achieve the KfW 40 or even KfW 40 Plus efficient home standard and obtain low-interest loans of up to 100,000 euros, as well as repayment bonuses of up to 15,000 euros per residential unit. This attract-ive subsidy from the KfW is awarded in addition to the grants of up to 11,100 euros for purchasing a Vitovalor.

Maximum repayment bonuses The amount of the repayment bonuses is determined by the KfW standard of the new building. A builder who wants to make use of the highest possible loan in the amount of 100,000 euros will get 5,000 euros for a KfW 55 house, 10,000 euros for a KfW 40 house, and 15,000 euros for meeting the KfW 40 Plus standard. The specifi-cations for KfW 40 and KfW 40 Plus houses are especially easy to meet with a combination of Vitovalor and VIESSMANN GRÜNGAS certificates.

VIESSMANN GRÜNGAS certificates: Gas from renewable sources The certificates are comparable to a contract for green electricity: The electric-ity coming out of the socket is from the German electricity mix, that is, also from conventional power stations. Depending on the individually used amount of electricity, the supplier guarantees that a corresponding amount of electricity generated by a renewable source will be fed into the German grid. With VIESSMANN GRÜNGAS certificates, the system operator continues to get conventional gas to operate the fuel cell heating device and settles

Gas from renewable sources of energyHigh subsidies for combining a Vitovalor fuel cell heating device with VIESSMANN GRÜNGAS

accounts as usual with their natural gas supplier. The certificates confirm that the natural gas used in the fuel cell is matched by a corresponding amount of gas from renewable generation (biogas or synthetic natural gas from power-to-gas plants). In terms of the overall balance, therefore, the system operator can thus cover the gas requirement for running the fuel cell from renewable sources. So the KfW 40 standard and – with an additional electricity storage system – the KfW 40 Plus standard can be met and the corresponding repayment bonuses applied for.

The higher repayment bonuses awarded for the certificates give the system operator an additional cost advantage (see table).

display and 4-S function. Intake, dis-charge and flow rate sensors for automatic, fully variable adjustment of the output, as well as a process- controlled motor valve guarantee a constant water temperature down to the exact degree at the maximum flow rate. Wellness shower programs, eco functions, programmable memory functions and an automatic water volume regulator provide for especially convenient hot water.

Subsidy for modernizationReplacing an old flow heater with a modern Vitotherm EI2 qualifies for a subsidy of 100 euros in Germany. All information on this at: www.foerderung-durchlauferhitzer.de

Vitotherm electric wall-mounted storage unit The Vitotherm EW4 and EW6 are designed to be installed on the wall of a bathroom or utility room. They are avail-able in capacities of 30 to 150 liters. Starting at a volume of eighty liters, the units have enough reserve capacity to fill a bathtub. Several taps can also be supplied – for instance, at the wash-basin and in the shower at the same time.

Vitoplanar electric heating systemsThe new Vitoplanar heating systems can be used in many different ways: in the bathroom, for instance, if it is not worth switching on the heating. In a new building, the infrared heating sys-tem can be a sensible supplement to a heat pump or a gas condensing boiler. When obsolete night storage heaters (recent figures put their number at half a million) are replaced by modern flat infrared heaters in the course of modernization, they are a particularly economical solution, since the electric connection is already in place.

Infrared heating systems with outstanding characteristicsConstant heat radiation, two tempera-ture limiters for the highest level of

safety, thermally well-insulated backs for maximum emission, maintenance-free technology with no magnetic field, and not least, flexible installation possibilities – those are the outstand-ing characteristics of the Vitoplanar infrared heating systems.

Dual-use solution Whether the radiation surface is made of white or mirrored glass, the Vitoplanar EI2 is in any case an es-pecially elegant way to heat rooms. The mirrored glass surface, for instance, can be used just like a mirror in the bathroom or hallway.

Quick-response heaters and wall convectors The Vitoplanar EQ4P quick-response heater is a compact solution that can be used as a supplementary or transitional heating system in a hobby room, for instance. The Vitoplanar EC4 wall convector is especially well suited for quickly heating living rooms, cellars and hobby rooms.

Panel heating for parquet/laminate flooring and ceramic coveringsNowadays, laying out electric heating mats is considered part of the furnish-

ings of a comfortable new or modern-ized building. At a thickness of only 1.3 millimeters, the Vitoplanar EF3 heating mats can also be laid out under laminate and parquet floors. They are the ideal solution when a home is renovated without renewing the screed.

Vitoplanar EF2 is especially well suited to being laid under tiles and ceramic coverings. It makes cold tile or ceramic floors feel pleasantly warm.

The next generation in racing meetsthe next generation in heating and this would be a good description of the partnership between Viessmannand Panasonic Jaguar Racing, whichhas been in existence since the be ginning of the 2017–18 Formula E season. The overriding goal is to cooperate in shaping the living spacesof coming generations by making renewable energy sources tangible, promoting changes and making sus-tainable technological innovations accessible to everyone. The ninth race in the ABB FIA Championship was held in Berlin on the third weekend in May.

“I learned a lot from my father.”The Viessmann press conference onthe day before the race lived up to itsmotto, “Take a Ride with the Next Generation”. After an exclusive tour ofthe Tempelhof field, including a look behind the scenes, the highlight was the panel discussion with MaxViessmann and Panasonic Jaguar pilotNelson Piquet Jr.

The next generation in racing, heating and housingFocus on the future at the ABB FIA Formula E in Berlin

The next generation entrepreneur and racecar driver talked about what it means to follow in the footsteps of successful fathers and what challengesare involved in taking over leadership responsibilities at a young age. Together they looked to the future – and to how energy will be used and living spaces created in the future:

“Our climate is undergoing a funda-mental change, and that is a globalchallenge. We are working to keep our Earth a place future generations will still want to live in,” said Max Viessmann, and Nelson Piquet Jr. added, “I am very glad to be part of this development.”

Living spaces of the futureOn the day of the race itself, Viessmannwas on site with an exhibition truck andpresented solutions for the livingspaces of the future, as well as excitingattractions for big and small fans of Formula E.

Apart from the new Vitovalor PT2 premium fuel cell heating system, which also generates electricity alongwith heat, visitors were able to obtaininformation on new digital services. The main idea of the services on offer,Cary (see also pp. 8–9 in this issue) and Heating as a Service, is more time and convenience, as well as enhancingthe feel-good factor in the home by linking technology with service.

Creating and maintaining living spaces for generations to come is a cause Viessmann has taken up in its mission statement. That is why there were specials on offer for children at the Formula E race: life illustrators drew their colorful ideas of life in the future on an iPad, and the youngsters themselves could become little Formula E drivers on a mini-racecourse. The Viessmannstand’s new approach of appealing toall generations proved to be extremelysuccessful: more than 4,000 visitors were counted.

For decades, one of Viessmann’s clear goals has been to run its headquarters in Allendorf (Eder) with as much energy efficiency and resource conservation as possible.

An important milestone on the way to meeting this goal is the Efficiency Plus project, part of Viessmann’s sustainability strategy. Begun in 2006, the company headquarters in Allendorf had by 2012 already met the ambitious targets set by the German federal government’s energy and environmental policy for 2050 by using technology available on the market and gradually integrating renewable energy sources, such as biomass, biogas and solar power, into the energy mix. Now the

PV 4.0: Modern solar park at headquarters in AllendorfNext building block in the Efficiency Plus project is setting new standards for the production of self-generated electricity

project has added another building block in the form of a new solar park.

Highest profitability, impressive sizeThe new solar park has figures to be proud of: 45,000 square meters of space, 7,400 photovoltaic modules and an electricity yield of roughly 1.8 gigawatt-hours per year. In the future, it will provide up to seven percent of the electricity required at the Allendorf location. This will increase the produc-tion of self-generated electricity by fifty percent. The biggest portion (90%) of the 1.8 gigawatt-hours produced will be used by Viessmann Werke Allendorf GmbH itself. For instance, four charg-ing pillars for electric vehicles that can charge up to eight vehicles at once

have been installed in the employee parking lot in the immediate vicinity of the solar park. This offer is free of charge for employees. The project was headed by Viessmann PV + E-Systeme GmbH, and the preparation was additionally supported by the consulting subsidiary Etanomics Service GmbH.

What makes the system so special is found in the details: with an output of two megawatts and a size of 4.5 hec-tares, the Viessmann solar park is one of the first of this magnitude in Germany that is not dependent on subsidies, such as the EEG remuneration.

Ultra-modern technologyUltra-modern digital technology was used from the planning to the imple-mentation stage. With the aid of a detailed 3D model of the grounds, all components were perfectly coordi-nated, from the 1,300 posts in the substructure to the routing of the cable ducts. During construction, the geo-data collected were also secured on a server, which provided a precise underground image that can be used later for monitoring and maintenance. This procedure not only reduces the time and cost of construction, but also enhances the quality and reliability of the system during operation.

This year, Viessmann’s annual press conference was held at a place that not only perfectly symbolizes the transition to the next generation, but also the change from a traditional German industrial company to a “Next Generation Family Business”. The company’s current figures were presented to members of the trade and business press in the Maschinenraum (“machine room”) in the Berlin locality of Prenzlauer Berg.

The Maschinenraum is becoming a place for deep tech ventures and SMEs to share ideas and work together. In the future, members of the so-called Members Club will even have several stories at their disposal. The design and furnish-ings of the rooms create the ideal jobs of the future: here all forms of team-oriented collaboration will be possible, as well as high productivity and agility. What is more, Viessmann will concentrate its Berlin team in the Maschinenraum.

Viessmann, as the journalists learned at the unconventional press breakfast at the (as yet) construction site, was once again able to chalk up strong figures in its anniversary year. Sales were the best the company has ever seen. An overview of the most important facts follows here.

Viessmann had the second largest stand at the MCE in Milan, surpassed only by the ISH.

Successful spring trade fairs in 2018Specialists and end users gather information in Milan, Brussels, Essen and Nuremberg

    COMPANY

In the past few months, Viessmann took part in high- ranking, well-attended national and international trade fairs – first and foremost the Mostra Convegno Expocomfort.

MCE MilanViessmann’s stand in Milan was the second largest after the ISH. The thematic focus was on digital services. For instance, the Customer Journey was explained using a number of digital tools and the perspectives this opens up for trade partners and end customers were demonstrated. Another focal point was Viessmann’s comprehensive range of products – the spectrum in Milan went from home ventilation to the Vitomax-HS boiler that weighs in at ten metric tons. One high point was the three Formula E simulators. Virtual reality glasses enabled the visitors to drive in a (nearly) real race. A visit to the

Formula E race in Rome was raffled off among the winners.

Two new partnerships Viessmann Italy was able to announce two new partnerships at the MCE: first with the Milan-based energy provider Sorgenia which, like Viessmann, is bet-ting strongly on digitalization. Another agreement was signed with tado. Consumers with a Viessmann system can connect it to the tado smart thermostats and control it with the smartphone app.

Batibouw BrusselsVisitors to the stand at the Batibouw trade fair also had an opportunity to test their skills in the racing simulator. Roughly three quarters of the visitors to the trade fair were end users, and Viessmann provided them with 400 square meters on which to gather information on efficient heating and air-conditioning technology.

SHK EssenThe first major German trade fair in the current year was SHK Essen. Traditionally, the proportion of inter-national visitors has been very high, at around fifty percent. Among the most important new products were the new Vitovalor PT2 fuel cell heating device and the Vitocal 200 CI gas condensing boiler.

IFH/Intherm NurembergAround 600 exhibitors displayed their products and services for the plumbing and heating trades in Nuremberg in April. For many of the visitors, the Viessmann stand was the first and most important place to go. Apart from the new products for the spring season, the digital services Viessmann provides to make the daily work of trade partners easier could also be seen and tested – in keeping with the fair’s main theme, “DIGITALLY NETWORKED.”

“We Electrify”: Viessmann at Light + Building in FrankfurtTrade fair participation demonstrates commitment to expanding activities in the electricity sector

  • 21

    COMPANY

In March, Viessmann took part for the first time in the Light + Building in Frankfurt, the world’s leading trade fair for light and building services. Over the six days of the fair, the 2,700 exhibitors informed 220,000 trade visitors from nearly 180 countries about new products, solutions and trends in the areas of light and electrical engin-eering, as well as home and building automation.

Impressive figuresViessmann’s premiere was a thorough success. This was also confirmed by the figures presented by Karlheinz Reitze, Managing Director of the PV+E Systems division: 70,000 visitors saw the Viessmann stand, of whom 26,000 visited the stand directly and 4,000 spent more than ten minutes obtaining information on the new products and services.

Thoroughly positive resonance“We had set our sights on getting at least 1,000 leads – that is, firm contact

electricity community and many useful new planning tools for contractors, such as the ViShare flat rate calculator and the heating mat planner.

Focusing on the changing needs of consumersThe participation at Light + Building clearly shows the high value the company places on photovoltaic and electrical systems. Thus Viessmann is responding to the changing needs of consumers in the energy sector. The company’s growing commitment in this segment is also a way to take account of regulatory changes. After all, the political targets and conditions for in-creasing energy efficiency and reduc-ing CO2 emissions are only going to in-tensify this trend. The European Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) requires that new buildings meet the lowest energy standard starting in 2020. In Germany, this is being implemented by toughening the German Energy Saving Regulation.

addresses – and we managed to get 1,074.” On average, he added, 25 to 30 employees were at the stand working to acquire and attend to customers. The feedback, at any rate, was thoroughly positive. This applied both to the cooperation with ETHERMA, an Austrian manufacturer of electric heat-ing systems, announced at the Light + Building, as well as to Viessmann’s clear commitment to expanding its activities in the electricity sector. Hence, not only were new electric heating systems, such as infrared heaters, wall convectors and floor heat-ing systems, on display at the stand, but also new electric flow heaters and cylinders.

“Electric Fire” was a real eye catcherVisitors to the stand were particularly impressed by the “Electric Fire” at the center of the trade fair exhibit, which visualized the trade fair’s motto “We Electrify.” Customers also favorably emphasized the new offers: the Design Thinking workshops, the ViShare

Especially when replacing old units, it can often be assumed that the replacement will have to fit into a tight space. Therefore, the Viessmann “Product Information Center” develop-ment team was ordered to design a new gas condensing boiler in the output range above 80 kilowatts that would be especially compact and easy to transport. The innovative Vitocrossal 200, Type Ci fulfills this goal unreservedly. This is why the team was awarded the Innovation Prize of the Viessmann Awards by both co-CEOs, Max Viessmann and Joachim Janssen. This company-wide team competition helps the Viessmann Group tap its full innovative potential, as well as promoting cooperation between employees, departments and companies.

The depth of the smallest version of the Vitocrossal 200, Type Ci, without the casing measures a mere 680 millimeters, making it ideal for replacing old units in tight spaces. With outputs from 80 to 318 kilowatts, and as a compact double boiler up to 636 kilowatts, this new gas condensing boiler can be used almost anywhere.

Until now, supermarkets have usedrefrigerated cabinets with slidinglids that make it hard to see the prod-ucts packed into the small space. How-ever, a display with only a single level isgetting to be insufficient for presenting all the chilled goods on offer.

The new “TectoDeck SV3 FrischeSafe” half-height refrigerated shelf has three levels for displaying products. In addition, Viessmann LED technology shows the goods in the best light.

Substantially enlarged presentation areaThis innovative presentation conceptlets goods be displayed in a wide variety of attractive ways, and effi-ciently promotes sales. With its three display levels, the new “TectoDeck SV3FrischeSafe” increases the presentationarea by nearly 45 percent.

Innovative presentation concept“TectoDeck Sv3 FrischeSafe” lets goods be displayed on three levels

makes it easy to stock and removegoods. Another advantage is that the products can be perfectly seen on all levels, in contrast to previous refrigerated cabinets. Thus customers can more quickly find the products they are looking for, and an outstanding goods presentation is guaranteed.

Ecological refrigerant helps protect ozone layerWhen the refrigerated shelf is delivered,it is ready to use. While the secondary circuit is filled with simple liquid brine, the natural refrigerant R290 (propane)flows through the primary circuit. Its global warming potential (GWP) is only 3, so it is especially ecologicalcompared to conventional refrigerants’ GWP of up to 4,000. What is more, it does no harm to the atmosphere’s protective ozone layer.

Easy to clean and serviceRemovable return air grilles and base shelf, as well as rounded corners, makeit easy to clean. A separate drain for

condensation and dirty water is integrated. The refrigerated shelf canbe set up as a free-standing gondola or in a row of other units already inplace.

Good prospectsA gondola with six modules was set up in early March at a discount food retailer’s store in Switzerland. Anotherhighlight at present is the test setup of an especially large, 9.72-meter-long gondola in a supermarket nearMunich. Apart from supermarkets, the“TectoDeck Sv3 FrischeSafe” can also be used in small shop concepts andconvenience stores.

I t is already obligatory in Denmark, Finland and Norway, as well as many other countries, and will be mandatory in Germany for large federal building projects starting in 2020: building information modeling (BIM) digitally monitors the planning, construction and operation of building structures. The new Vitodesk 300 BIM planning suite software tool lets building services planners take part in BIM projects. Apart from advantages in procurement, they will also profit from easier planning and a much more efficient execution.

Planning method of the futureBIM is a planning method for all trades in which all the information relevant to the structure is kept in a central build-ing model where it is accessible to all involved. In this way, a structure can be considered holistically throughout its entire lifecycle – from conception to construction and maintenance up to any demolition which may at some time occur.

BIM helps avoid time-consuming multiple entries and thus redundant data keeping. All steps are executed and documented digitally. Because all trades are networked, any changes can be recorded immediately and transferred to the areas affected. For instance, a change in how the pipes are laid will be automatically seen by the electricians and other trades.

Comprehensive support with the Vitodesk 300 BIM planning suite With the Vitodesk 300 BIM planning suite, professional planners can import BIM models, do their calculations and planning, and then make their results available to the others involved in

construction. They profit from the data already available in the BIM model. For instance, relevant information, such as measurements, thermal transmittance, air change rates and usage profiles are already found in the digital building model. This makes it easier to calculate heating and cooling loads, especially since a large portion of the work formerly needed for this consisted of looking for data.

Then the results can be used to design heat generators, to perform piping calculations for heating, drinking water, waste water and gas, and to scale radiators and floor heating. As a result, the software generates 3D models and provides settings for automatic flow balancing and detailed parts lists. The 3D models, including the results of all the calculations, are finally handed over by way of the

standardized IFC interface to the BIM manager for further planning by the other trades.

The House of the Future is what Klaus Schnepf, founder and managing partner of Schnepf Planungs-gruppe, calls his latest project. The name is not an exaggeration. In Nagold, Baden-Wuerttemberg, a multi-family house has been built that is entirely energy self-sufficient and is setting new standards in many respects.

Modern, good-looking, efficient, and suited to all age groups“I had a vision of building a modern, good-looking, energy-efficient house

The House of the Future is already standing in Baden-WürttembergIn Nagold, Klaus Schnepf has built a large, energy self-sufficient residential complex that can well serve as an example

suited to all age groups where both younger families with children as well as older people would feel comfort-able,” says Klaus Schnepf. “Without any underground garage that is hard to drive into or out of, without any dark stairwells, without any elevators to give me claustrophobia, without balconies too small for even a table. But instead with modern, efficient, easy-to-use technology.” As a logical consequence, the house is intended to be his “energy- efficient calling card,” where he himself will live in a penthouse suited to his

age. The declared goal of partially off-setting the high cost of investment and rent with substantially lower utility costs has already been reached.

Groundbreaking intelligent energy conceptWorking closely with energy provider Energie Calw GmbH (ENCW), Schnepf has come up with a groundbreaking intelligent energy concept. After drilling to a depth of nearly 240 meters – a first in Baden-Wuerttemberg – two geothermal probes were installed that

work together with a highly efficient Viessmann Vitocal 350-G heat pump to ensure that the floor heating always keeps the entire house at a comfort-able temperature. It can also keep the inside of the building cool in the summertime.

In addition, the heat pump also pro-vides hot water for the bathrooms by way of a freshwater station in each apartment. A photovoltaic system and a Vitocharge electricity storage system from Viessmann not only run the heat pump, but also the Vitovent 300 venti-lation units in the apartments, thus covering the building’s entire electricity demand. But that is not all: a tenant electricity model ensures that the apartments get to make use of the solar power. The rest of the solar energy is currently being fed into the grid. However, Klaus Schnepf is already working with Viessmann and ENCW on an innovative electricity storage technology that is expected to go into operation soon.

The initial results for 2017 are now already available. “Our estimates added up just as we’d hoped, and the results even surpassed our expectations,” says Schnepf. “My tenants are happy because our energy concept means that the electricity they get through the tenant electricity model costs 25

Germany’s largest and most modern milk drying plant is located in Neumünster, Schleswig-Holstein. The production facility is situated between Hamburg and Kiel – right in the middle of one of the country’s largest milk producing regions. It processes around 600 million kilo-grams of milk into low-fat powdered milk for the international food industry each year. To produce powdered milk, water is extracted from milk by means of steaming. While 87.5 percent of liquid milk consists of water, powdered milk has only about three percent. A great deal of energy in the form of steam is required to manufacture 60,000 metric tons of powdered milk per year.

Herbert Hannemann’s DIHH engineer-ing office worked together with the plant construction firm of Georg Hagelschuer and Viessmann Industrie-systeme GmbH to come up with an energy concept for the entire plant with the aim of achieving a high level of energy and resource efficiency. For instance, part of the energy used to heat the milk is recovered. The use of fresh water has also been considerably reduced by means of optimized processes and condensate recovery.

The owners, Uelzena eG, Meierei Barmstedt eG, Meierei Wasbek eG and Meierei-Genossenschaft Schmal-feld-Hasenmoor eG, invested a total of 64 million euros in the plant.

The centerpiece of the plant is the fifty meter high spray tower, one of Europe biggest, where the low-fat milk is dried by various steam-heated air heaters. It takes roughly six to seven liters of raw milk to produce one kilogram of powdered milk.

Boiler system from Viessmann for a reliable supply of steamWhen choosing the boilers and firing technology, the most important criterion for the Neumünster mild drying plant was to generate steam safely, economically and ecologically.

The recently installed steam boiler system has two Vitomax 300-HS high-pressure steam boilers that generate steam at a pressure of sixteen bar and a capacity of ten metric tons per hour per boiler. The two high-pressure steam boilers with an integrated economizer fulfill all the latest statutory demands for especially low-emission combustion. The efficiency of the boilers with the economizer is 96 percent – even at full load.

Gas burners with digital firing manage-ment and a speed and O2 control ensure that the fuel is used efficiently. The most modern measuring and control technology, combined with a PLC boiler control, ensures that running the steam boiler system is reliable, efficient and economical. Using these modern technologies was also an important pre-requisite for the ISO 50001 certification.

More than 90 percent of the condensate is fed back into the systemA large portion of the energy used to heat and steam the milk is returned in the form of condensate by a steam heat exchanger. This process returns more than ninety percent of the con-densate to the system. The condensate is collected and fed back into the thermal complete degassing. The

feedwater is then fed to the steam boiler by way of highly efficient speed-controlled feedwater pumps. The integrated economizer raises the temperature of the feedwater and conversely cools the hot exhaust gas down to approx. 125° C. This enhances the efficiency of the system and sub-stantially reduces fuel costs.

The picturesque little town of St. Andrews on the east coast ofScotland boasts two world-class institutions. One is the “Old Course,” supposedly the oldest golf course in the world, making St. Andrews thehome of this sport. The other is its renowned university, the oldest in Scotland and considered to be one ofthe highest-ranking universities in the United Kingdom, alongside Oxford andCambridge. Fuel cell well-suited to existingbuildingsViessmann’s subsidiary Hexis installed five fuel cell heating devices in variousbuildings at the university as part of ene.field, a demonstration project

sponsored by the European Union. Volker Nerlich, head of marketing and sales at Hexis, says, “This project canreally serve as a beacon to help Great Britain get to know Viessmann’s naturalgas powered fuel cell heating sys-tems.” The solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) in the devices can run at high returntemperatures, which makes them especially well-suited for use in existing buildings – like those in St. Andrews – whose older heating systems require high system temperatures.

“The devices are running smoothly”The specialist installers from Dunedin-based SCAN Building Services installedand commissioned all five fuel cell heating devices within three weeks. “Installing the devices in these old buildings posed a variety of challenges,” explains Bob Watson, head of building service at the university. These included lack of space, as wellas integrating their hydraulics into the existing heating systems. “The coordination between Hexis and the installation company went smoothly, the devices are perfectly installed andrunning without any problems,” says a delighted Watson. One of the five plants with the high-temperature fuel cell from Viessmann subsidiary HeXIS.

I f there were a “Nation of Viessmann,” its nine gold medals would have won it fifth place in the medals table. The athletes promoted by the company exhibited top performances in Pyeongchang, South Korea.

BiathlonBiathlete Laura Dahlmeier did justice to her role as favorite in an impressive manner by taking home a total of three Olympic medals. She left no opportunity open to her opponents in the sprint and pursuit and captured gold; she secured herself a bronze in the individual event. The male biath-letes on the Viessmann Team also had every reason to celebrate. Arnd Peiffer became the Olympics winner in the sprint, and Benedikt Doll pulled off a surprise bronze win in the pursuit.

Nordic CombinedThe triumph of the Nordic Combined athletes took on historic dimensions. Flagbearer Eric Frenzel started with gold in the normal hill event. In the competition on the large hill, Johannes

Has every right to celebrate: Laura Dahlmeier won three medals.

Rydzek, Fabian Rießle and Eric Frenzel landed in the first three places, thereby earning a complete set of medals for Germany – and for Viessmann.

LugeTobias Wendl and Tobias Arlt were the stars of the luge doubles competitions in the Viessmann two-seater. These likeable athletes from Berchtesgaden not only left the other doubles far behind them, but also won gold with the German relay team.

Ski jumpingThe German ski jumpers added two silver medals to the success of the Viessmann Team. Katharina Althaus went to South Korea with high hopes of winning a medal, and she did not disap-point. In team competition, the German team with Viessmann athletes Richard Freitag, Karl Geiger and Stephan Leyhe won silver.

“We are #Winterfans”Even though the main interest at the Pyeongchang Olympics was in the athletic competitions, such big events again and again bring up the question of sustainability and climate protection. This applies primarily to winter sports, since there is hardly any region where climate change is so noticeable as in the mountains. As a friend and promoter of winter sports for many years, Viessmann therefore decided to actively espouse more sustainability in winter sports.

Together with partners from business, science, society, politics and sports, Viessmann intends to develop promis-Tobias Wendl and Tobias Arlt again proved that they are the measure of all things in doubles.

Working together for more sustainability in sports: athletes, brand ambassadors and functionaries took up the invitation to Lake Garda.

ing solutions to keep winters snowy and to reduce the CO2 emissions of sporting events and winter sports venues with its “We are #Winterfans” initiative.

Viessmann took the first step along this path by paying a climate levy for all athletes sponsored by the company in order to make their trip to Pyeong-chang more environmentally friendly. But this was just the beginning.

To finish off the successful 2017–18 season, the #Winterfans Summit was held in late May. Viessmann had invited 35 athletes, coaches and functionaries in five disciplines to get together at Lake Garda and come up with ideas on the topic of sustainability and CO2

reduction. The successful winter sports athletes on the Viessmann Team set an example as role models.

Guest speaker Reinhold Messner provided some interesting input in his speech by not only going into the subject of living in harmony with nature, but also of global climate change and the resulting changes for alpine regions.

Together, the large Viessmann family came out strongly for sustainability and climate protection in sports – for a world worth living in, with cold, snowy winters.

I t all started with luge. And with a major strategic change of course.Back in 1993, when Viessmann was just beginning to become involved with winter sports, the foreign share of the company was hardly more thanten percent and communication was aimed exclusively at contractors, planners and architects. The plan wasto make the brand well known not only abroad, but also among end consumers. The most eye-catching element of the new marketing conceptwas that very involvement in sponsor-ing winter sports. The affinity between winter and heating is perfectly obvious, and Viessmann’s core markets are mostly found where winters are coldand the interest in winter sports is especially pronounced.

Getting into luge laid the cornerstoneViessmann laid the cornerstone for sponsoring winter sports when it got

into luge in the 1993–1994 season. Inaddition to the partnership with the International Luge Federation (FIL), the company also acted as a sponsorfor specific persons and supported such well-known athletes as Georg“Schorsch” Hackl, Susi Erdmann, SylkeOtto and the doubles Stefan Krauße/Jan Behrendt. It is not only the greatathletic successes of the athletes but also their likeable manner in public that makes them such ideal brand ambassadors to this day.

“Contractual partners have becomefriends”The anniversary was celebrated in the “Kufenstüberl,” the house of theGerman lugers and bobsledders, at the Olympics in Pyeongchang, SouthKorea. FIL President Josef Fendt recalled how he had been “totally nervous” while driving to Viessmann headquarters in Allendorf 25 years ago to discuss the company’s possible

involvement. At the end, Fendt said, he was relieved and very happy about the commitment. “This involvement isabsolutely unique, and the contractual partners have long become friends,”said Fendt.

Thanks to Georg „Schorsch“ Hackl“We too look back with great satisfaction and gratitude on the last 25 years of our partnership with theFIL,” said Prof. Viessmann in Pyeong-

chang. He noted that the partnership had always been marked by good cooperation on a basis of trust. His particular thanks, apart from thankingthe FIL and the RGS Sportmarketingagency, went out to Schorsch Hackl: “You may have ended your careertwelve years ago, but you are still one of our most important brand ambassadors.”

Promoting young talentToday, the company’s involvement as a sponsor of winter sports is on a muchbroader basis. Support is provided for athletes, functionaries and associationsin the sports of biathlon, ski jumping, luge, cross-country skiing and Nordiccombined. Promoting young talent is of particular significance. Viessmann supports youth work in many ways; for instance, the entire C-squad of the German Ski Association (DSV) takesthe starting line as Viessmann’s JuniorTeam.

Since 2017: involvement in Formula E and soccerApart from winter sports, the company has also been promoting the PanasonicJaguar Racing Team in the Formula EChampionship since last year. FormulaE mirrors topics that also deeply concern Viessmann. After all, this series is first and foremost a race for efficiency and the best energy management.

Since 2017 there has also been a partnership with the English pro soccer team Huddersfield Town, which last summer was promoted to the Premier League, the top league in England.

Starting with the 2017-2018 season, Viessmannbegan supporting the Panasonic Jaguar Formu-la E Racing Team.

Celebrated the partnership in Pyeongchang: Alfons Hörmann, President of the GermanOlympic Sports Confederation, Annette Viessmann, Prof. Viessmann, Josef Fendt, President of the International Luge FederationFIL, and Veronika Rücker, Head of the DOSBBoard.
