We have had a number of great, well attended “events” at the Centre. Chinese New Year, Patrol 300 Club Dinner, Swing into Spring, Vintage Car Club Show and Shrine, Air Corps Pig Roast, Lobsterfest, Halloween Howl, Grey Cup Party, Christmas Potluck (hosted by the Tins) and the Patrol Children’s Christmas Party. Not only did these events afford the Nobles and their Ladies the opportunity to socialize but also gave us the opportunity to promote the Shrine and its philanthropy to non-Shriners. Our visibility in Southern Alberta was strong through our participation in numerous parades this past summer. Our visibility was enhanced by the Odyssey Tour (Fezmobile) in Red Deer, Canmore, Banff, Medicine Hat, High River and at the Shrine Centre. Our clubs and units are to be commended for their support of community parades throughout Southern Alberta. Al Azhar made our presence known at events outside of Southern Alberta. We had a strong showing at Imperial in Minneapolis. We should all be proud of the Mounted Patrol for their participation at Imperial. We had another strong showing at the Summer PNSA in Boise. (I probably should have had larger room for the hospitality suite!) Of course, Al Azhar participation in the SHC Open Golf Tournament in Las Vegas was “second to none”. The Joint Ceremonial in Red Deer was a success. Not only were we able to “hot sand” 9 Nobles but we were able to socialize with the Nobles and Ladies of Al Shamal and our Deputy Imperial Potentate, Imp. Sir Jerry Gant, and his Lady, Lisa. On the membership front, there is good news, sad news and bad news. The good news- 11 creations, 4 affiliations and 2 restorations. The sad news- the “black camel” took away 14 of our Nobles. The bad news- 4 to 6 demits and up to 10 suspensions for non-payment of dues. We all need to continue to make the “Al Azhar experience” value- added for all our Nobles. Our support of our philanthropy remained strong this year. Donations to SHC Canada and the Patient Transportation Fund are about $85,000 and $45,000 respectively. Al Azhar also made a significant donation to the SRCF Learning Centre and other donations to 6 “youth oriented” organizations which helps with our visibility in Southern Alberta. Our financial position remains solid. We have a strong investment account and should show a modest “cash profit” for the year. I would be remiss if I did not express my heart-felt thanks to Lady Victoria for all her assistance and support in 2014 particularly her successful Quilt Raffle. I could not have had an enjoyable and successful Potentate year without it. On behalf of your Divan, I express our sincere thanks to our clubs, units and individual Nobles and Ladies for supporting Al Azhar in 2014. You all share in Al Azhar’s success. FROM YOUR POTENTATE

Dear Nobles and Ladies, 2014 has been a great year for Al Azhar. RECORDER’S RAMBLINGS

Nancy Laberge’s CD “Write From The Heart“ is now available, at our request, here at the Shrine Centre. The purchase price is $15.00.

It has the song, Holy Moly Christmas on it as well as 10 other songs written by Nancy. A portion of each sale of a CD or download off the internet of Holy Moly Christmas results in a contribution to our Shrine Hospitals.

Nancy will be at the Shrine Hitman Hockey game on January 25 to tell her story as a patient helped by the Shriners.

Nancy has recently been to our Canadian Hospital in Montreal, the Shrine Chicago Hospital, the Sacramento and Los Angeles hospitals as well.

Her CD would make a nice stocking stuffer or gift for your friends or relatives, and does have a reference in the credit notes to the Shriners.
