Aladdin:Synopsis
Based on the much adored classic of 1992, Aladdin Jr is the story you know and love, with just a little
royal treatment!
Our story follows Aladdin, a down-and-out hero, and his three best friends (Babkak, Omar and
Kassim) through their discovery of a magic lamp and a Genie who has the power to grant its holder 3
wishes. Desperate to gain the approval of Princess Jasmine, Aladdin embarks into an adventure that will
test his moral code and strength of will.
With more characters, songs and thrills, this “diamond in the rough” tale is sure to open “a

MATILDA: Synopsis Inspired by the twisted works of Roald Dahl, this childhood
favourite has been adapted by writers Dennis Kelly, and
musician/lyricist Tim Minchin, to bring you the anarchy-driven
yet inspirational tale of a girl who dreams of a better life.
Matilda is a young girl with outstanding intelligence, a wicked
wit, and not to mention psychokinetic powers. Unloved by her
parents, Matilda finds comfort in the reassuring class of her
new teacher, Miss Honey. Over the course of her first term,
Matilda (along with her class mates) battle against the
oppressive rule of Miss Agatha Trunchbull. As the school
headmistress, Miss Trunchbull HATES children and LOVES
thinking up horrid punishments for those who don’t abide by
her strict rules. But Matilda has bravery and brains in equal
amounts, and she might just be the students’ saving grace!

Congratulations to the cast and crew of Aladdin Jr and Matilda 2020! It has been an absolute pleasure to work with you all this year and create not one but two amazing musicals. I’m so proud of each and everyone one of you, go out there and shine like the stars you are!
~ Miss Hannaby
Working with the students and staff on this years School Productions has been both a pleasure and privilege. We have such a talented, enthusiastic and committed ensemble of young people, as well as a Creative Arts Team that supports each other and makes the whole process fun! Thank you one and all.
~ Mr Rockett
It’s been a pleasure working with such a fantastic group of young people. I’ve spent most of the rehearsals with the Matilda cast who I have to give a huge shout out to for consistently going away and learning the songs, all of which are tricky pieces - well done, however it’s clear how hard every single member of both casts have worked! A huge thank you and well done the band too. A great bunch of people who’ve all conducted themselves so professionally and I am really proud of how far they’ve come in this process. Well done everyone. ~ Miss Powell

Once again, it has been a total rollercoaster watching the incredible cast and crew of both Aladdin and Matilda progress over the past months. With not one, but two musicals to contend with, the students this year have really been put to the test. Has it been smooth sailing? Of course not! But I can honestly say I’m so proud to have been able to work with such an amazing group of students while they sing, dance and act their way onto the stage tonight. Well done one and all!
~ Miss Barwell
These kids have gone above and beyond to pull off two whole shows. I am honoured to be a part of this production. “Break a leg” kiddies!
~ Mrs. McGill-Wright
