ICSA Canada Award Presentation
ICSA has three awards to be given at it’s AGM every year. Only two awards were given out this year with
both awards going to members of the Alberta Branch.
Judie Parker was awarded the Distinguished Professional Service Award which was established for the purpose of recognizing outstanding contributions to the profession of Chartered Secretary and Administrator. This award, which was established in 1982, is awarded each year if a suitable recipient has been identified.
Shauna Mason was awarded the Rising Star Award. This award is granted to a member showing
significant career potential within the first 5 years of achieving the Associate status and can be
awarded at any stage of a member’s career path.
Congratulations to both Judie and Shauna and a big THANK YOU to them for their contributions to the
Institute and the profession.

INTERNATIONAL NEWS
The AGM of ICSA was held in London, UK on October 4th 2017 at which the creation of a new designation
called Chartered Governance Professional and a new class of members to be called Affiliate Members
were approved. These changes will now go before the Privy Council in the United Kingdom for their final
consent.
Of note is that all Associates, who have been elected as such on or before December 31, 2019, will qualify
for “grandfathering” to Chartered Governance Professional once they have acquired 5 years experience
as an Associate.
