Alberta Ferretti AUTUMN/WINTER 2013-14 READY-TO-WEAR 20 FEBRUARY 2013 ALBERTA FERRETTI wanted to return to her real Ferretti woman for her autumn/winter 2013-14 collection - wiping the slate clean of all the sea shimmer and sequins of spring/summer 2013 as she did so. "It's the recognisable Ferretti shape and still authentic, the importance is the precise style and the quality - the shape is in the detail. It's very sophisticated, fragile and strong in between," said Ferretti after the show, one which saw her develop that signature silhouette into the Edwardian era for little fitted jackets that had an equestrian strictness to them, frilled and ruffled little skirts, and fresh white and embroidered dresses - alway s a thick black ribbon around the waist. This time round there was more structure, with the use of monochrome creating a cleaner and more graphic aesthetic - prim and pretty from the outset as opposed to just pretty pretty as she's usually known for. Collars were high - something we've been seeing throughout the international collections so far - and enhanced that Edwardian feel, as did bustled coats and skirts to give shape and volume. They came with pleated pelmet details on the hips too. In tiered lace and frills, looks were kept the right side of youthful and modern, worn as they were always with a pair of flats. Ferretti explored the very short and the very long and provided a more substantial and varied wardrobe for the new season where last time it had soley been romantic and sequin-strewn. Here there was more variation for the better, while still satisfying the Ferretti woman and ticking some of the seasonal trend boxes along the way - embellishment, bright colour and shapely coats. READY-TO-WEAR

20 FEBRUARY 2013

ALBERTA FERRETTI wanted to return to her real

Ferretti woman for her autumn/winter 201 3-1 4

collection - wiping the slate clean of all the sea shimmer

and sequins of spring/summer 201 3 as she did so.

"It's the recognisable Ferretti shape and still authentic,

the importance is the precise sty le and the quality - the

shape is in the detail. It's v ery sophisticated, fragile and

strong in between," said Ferretti after the show, one

which saw her dev elop that signature silhouette into

the Edwardian era for little fitted jackets that had an

equestrian strictness to them, frilled and ruffled little

skirts, and fresh white and embroidered dresses - alway s

a thick black ribbon around the waist.

This time round there was more structure, with the use of monochrome creating a

cleaner and more graphic aesthetic - prim and pretty from the outset as opposed to just

pretty pretty as she's usually known for.

Collars were high - something we'v e been seeing throughout the international collections

so far - and enhanced that Edwardian feel, as did bustled coats and skirts to giv e shape

and v olume. They came with pleated pelmet details on the hips too.

In tiered lace and frills, looks were kept the right side of y outhful and modern, worn as

they were alway s with a pair of flats. Ferretti explored the v ery short and the v ery long

and prov ided a more substantial and v aried wardrobe for the new season where last time

it had soley been romantic and sequin-strewn. Here there was more v ariation for the

better, while still satisfy ing the Ferretti woman and ticking some of the seasonal trend

boxes along the way - embellishment, bright colour and shapely coats.
