LITERACY

Reading; Writing

-Begin to recognise and write own name and those of their friends and family members -Recognise that print holds meaning, take part in writing activities and use print for purpose -Begin to hold books the correct way up, turn pages from right to left and recognise that the text and illustrations form parts of a whole story. Share a range of story books: Titch, Full Full Full of Love, Funny Bones Phonics: Children begin to develop the skills of blending and segmenting simple CVC words.

MATHEMATICS

Numbers; Shape, space and measure

-Count correctly using one to one correspondence when counting objects to 5/10+

-Recognise number names and begin to write numerals

-Begin to explore the concept of pairs /doubling (arms, legs, hands etc.)

-Sorting objects according to size, colour, shape

-Counting number rhymes/ counting body parts (fingers/toes)

-Comparing adult and children’s hand/shoe sizes

-Measuring children’s height in the class- tallest/shortest

EXPRESSIVE ARTS AND DESIGN

Exploring and using media and materials; Being imaginative

-Use a range of art/music activities in order to express ideas and feelings relating to them. -Developing an awareness of the various hues and shades within our environment. -Learning a variety of printing techniques. -Creating different collages using a wide range of media resources. -Moving bodies in time to music -Listening to and identifying sounds/instruments -Songs about ourselves, our bodies etc.

UNDERSTANDING THE WORLD

People and communities; The world; Technology

-Begin to explore their own bodies and name different body parts -Recognise the similarities and differences between themselves and others -Develop an understanding of our senses and how we use them -To look back and discuss past events and to be aware of change -Thinking about and discussing personal likes and dislikes Class photo album, children bring in photos of themselves as children ‘Things I remember... When I was a baby...’ Compare now and then Looking at baby clothes, baby toys. Life cycle puzzle Celebrations- birthdays, new siblings Where are we from? Lambeth/London/ Where are our families from?
