Two entrepreneurs from Detroit began selling tools out of the trunks of their cars

The first J&L industrial catalogue was born with 72 pages

J&L industrial became part of Kennametal and moved to their head quarters in Livonia, MI

The first UK Advantage sales brochure was distributed. It had 8 pages and 41 products. The first UK Catalogue was also launched with 113 Pages.

J&L opened the first European location in the UK based at the Kennametal site in Kingswinford, West Midlands

Moved to a new distribution centre in Wednesbury

2002 saw the launch of the outbound territory sales team

The launch of the 8th Edition catalogue was branded J&L an MSC company and had 1098 pages. The sales function expanded to include field sales.

Achieved ISO accreditation.

The launch of the 9th Edition catalogue was branded MSC/J&L Industrial supply and had 1714 pages. The Inventory management solutions were launched.

The launch of the 10th Edition catalogue was branded MSC/J&L, The big Book and had 1754 pages.

The launch of the 11th Edition catalogue was branded MSC Industrial Supply Co and had 1872 pages.

The 12th Edition catalogue was launched with 2162 pages. MSC introduced three new product categories included bearings and transmissions, fluid power and power tools
