Ruth Writes “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths.” Proverbs 3: 5-6 When we're faced with significant decisions in our lives, it's easy to become overwhelmed by a sense of fear or anxiety. Without any visible signposts indicating which direction to take, we can sometimes feel paralysed by an inability to move forward.

But, God doesn't ask us to figure out which direction to take all on our own. As Christians, we're not expected to rely on our own wis-dom, or to depend on our own understanding of situations. In Proverbs 3:5-6, we’re invited to put our trust wholly and completely in the Lord, at all times and under all circumstances, in the promise that he will direct our paths. Although we might not be able to see what's ahead, God asks us to follow him in faith and trust. You may be aware that future funding for Parish Development in Mottram has been uncertain for some time. Over recent months I've prayed a great deal about the future of the PDW role and the impact of the financial uncertainty on myself and my family. So, it's been with a real sense of faith and trust in God's leading, albeit with much sadness, that I have made the difficult decision to leave the position of Parish Development Worker later this month. In the immediate future, I will resume my full time position with the BBC Philharmonic. With my daughters, Ana and Matilda, due to take A levels and GCSEs this year, we're entering a new and exciting season in our family life. It has been a joy and a privilege (and yes, a challenge too at times!) to serve the Lord and his church in Mottram, as Parish Development Worker. I am grateful for your generous support as I have carried out the role, and for the love and friendship you have shown to us as a family over the last 13 years. Mottram Church will continue to be in my heart and my prayers - particularly during the vacancy.

With love and blessings, Ruth

WORSHIP DIARY (CONTINUED)

A prayer for morning… and for evening

O God, who divides the day from the night, separate our deeds from the darkness of sin, and let us continually live in your light, reflecting in all that we do your eternal beauty.

O God, who gives the day for work and the night for sleep, refresh our bodies and our minds through the quiet hours of night, and let our inward eyes be directed towards you, dreaming of your eternal glory.

From the Leonine Sacramentary, 5th century

Helping Out

Cascade Baby Bundles is a small registered charity based in Hyde. We support babies and children up to the age of 10 from local families who are experiencing hardship. We take donations of new and pre-loved clothing, baby equipment, toys and books from families who no longer need them and redistribute to families who do. We began operating in 2014 and have to date helped over 2000 children.

We are due to move to new and improved premises and are looking upon this as an opportunity to recruit additional volunteers now that we will be able to offer a better and more comfortable working environment.

There are a number of ways to help:-

Spare a couple of hours to help at the unit, collating the bundles, sorting clothes, ironing, safety checking prams and cots or inputting data.

Work from home doing ironing, cleaning shoes or knitting blankets.

Run a coffee morning or a stall at an event.

If you are unable to help personally perhaps you could help with our fundraising instead by:-

Supporting our ‘Around a Pound’ per month scheme.

Shop on line? If you go via https:www.easyfundraising.co.ukcascadebabybundles we get a donation at no cost to you.

Add something to your shopping trolley – nappies, baby shampoo or toiletries for our new mums.

Donate any unwanted toiletries or chocolates.

Our volunteers are valued, welcome and wanted and we would be delighted if you felt able to join our team.

ANOTHER NOTICE

ImportantVolunteer helpers wanted

For ‘First Steps’ and ‘Open the Book’ First Steps is our baby & toddler group which meets on Mondays, during term time, 1.30-3.00pm at Mottram Community Centre. It's a friendly and fun group. The grown-ups enjoy a cuppa and a chat while the little ones have a play and a snack followed by singing/bible-story/craft time. It would be great to have two more volunteer helpers in the team - you wouldn't need to be there every week - to share in the setting up, brewing up, welcoming and chatting, and tidying away at the end of the session.

Open the Book Assemblies Currently we go into Mottram and Broadbottom primary schools twice a month on Tuesday mornings to deliver our Open the Book Assemblies - reading and acting out Bible Stories using the OtB resources. The children love these assemblies - and so do we! There's a bit of dressing up, singing (no solos!), lots of props, gospel message and a prayer. For these assemblies to continue in their current format, we would ideally need at least another two volunteers to join us on a Tuesday morning and anyone with a creative/artistic bent to help out with props. You don't need to be a RADA graduate, just have a willingness to dress up, occasionally be a bit silly and have a heart for sharing the Good News with the children of our parish. If you, or someone you know, might be willing to help out in either of these teams, contact Pat Hall or Ruth Montgomery for a chat and to find out a bit more! Whatever our skills, talents or calling, we can all help - by praying for these ministries. For many of the children in our parish, this is the only opportunity they (and their families) have to hear about Jesus. Please pray too for Pat and all those involved in our various children's and youth groups. Please speak to Pat Hall 01457 861827 or Ruth Montgomery 01457 766173 if you think you can help.
