This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad! Today, as we greeted the 450+ families in our drop-off line in frigid temperatures, our hearts were full of JOY in anticipation of a day spent together under one roof. While we know it is always inconvenient to drop-off at a different campus, it truly helps us continue to build up our ASCS family as one school community centered on Christ. This evening is our Christmas concert for children in grades 4-8. It is taking place in St. Mary Church at 6:00 PM. The children are to be dropped-off at 5:30 PM. Please do not drop-off any earlier as the teachers will not be in the building to supervise until then. The church doors will also open at 5:30 PM. It is always quite crowded; yet, to date we have not found a space larger that could accommodate us. Most places in town already have events sched- uled. The concert lasts just a little over an hour and promises to be a beautiful show. Please do not get up and leave following your child’s performance as it disrupts the performance. On Thursday, we host our concert for the children in grades K4-3 rd in St. Mary Church as 5:30 PM. The children may be dropped-off at 4:45 PM and the doors to the church will open then as well. Last week, ASCS sent out our first Annual Fund letter. Please consider donating to our Annual Fund. Your do- nation will help our ASCS teachers continue to cultivate values, offer a rigorous academic program and to create an environment where each child’s faith life will grow! I truly believe in the work being done by these amazing educators. Please join me in supporting them. Thank you to those who have already chosen to give a gift to our school. 'Tis the season to get sick…! We have many children with colds, fevers, the flu and other illnesses. Please remem- ber to keep your child home from school if he/she is sick with a fever or a contagious illness. Also, if a child stays home from school he/she may not participate in after school activities. This includes sports practices and games. As we move toward the 4 th Sunday of Advent, I pray that each of us finds a quiet moment to turn his/her heart toward God asking for peace in the lives of those closest to us and to those in the wider circle of our world. Thank you for blessing my life with your commitment to Catholic education. I am grateful and full of joy for the opportunity to serve you as Principal of ASCS. I wish you a Blessed Christmas!

Thank you to all who ordered scrip this week and to those who consistently order. It really makes a difference and helps the school to purchase items we might not otherwise have, such as chrome books. It also helps off-set tuition and make field trips more affordable. Please continue to order weekly (once we return from break!). Scrip is taking a break- orders are due next on Monday night, January 2nd. From there we will resume the normal Sunday night due date. As always, if you have a presto pay account set up, you may order electronic gift cards and reload existing cards. Please visit the school website and www.shopwithscrip.com to learn more about the program! Scrip users spent $18,465.00 this week, earning a full rebate of $1247.43; half stays with the school ($623.71) and the other half is returned to the participating families ($623.71). As a reminder, you can see your earned rebate total by logging on to your scrip account. Have a Blessed Christmas Season! See you in 2017!

Taher Tibits: January 2017 Thanks For A Great 2016 Year!

Merry Christmas & A Happy New Year From The TAHER Staff!

Looking Forward To 2017, We Will Be Celebrating The Chinese

New Year On January 27th!

Why New Year Is Celebrated In Winter But Called The “Spring Festival”

Like Christmas in other countries, Chinese New Year is Chinas much-needed

winter holiday.

It was set to coincide with the slack time just before a new year of farm work

begins, as a time of preparation. Traditionally most Chinese were farmers, so

this made sense. Now 55% of China’s population is Urban (a generation ago it

was 25%), but 100+ million return to their

rural roots for the Chinese New Year.
