FROM THE DESK OF FATHER SANTY
Gaudete Sunday
The third Sunday of Advent is called
Gaudete Sunday. Gaudete is the Latin
word for Rejoice. It is a rejoicing Sunday.
We rejoice because the coming of the
Lord is near. The biblical readings remind us of the
reasons to rejoice.
First, Isaiah in the first reading, rejoiced in the Lord be-
cause he was liberated by God from the slavery of sin. He
proclaimed to the people “I rejoice heartily in the Lord, in
my God is the joy of my soul; for he has clothed me with a
robe of salvation and wrapped me in a mantle of justice…”
The coming of Jesus will bring us freedom from the slavery
of sin and evil.
Second, the responsorial psalm is Mary’s song of rejoicing.
“My soul rejoices in my God.” Mary rejoiced because of the
wondrous deeds of God to his people. Mary witnessed the
goodness of God in setting her free from the influence of
the world. The coming of Jesus will give us the opportunity
to recognize the goodness of God and experience freedom
from the dictates of the world that separate us from God.
Third, John the Baptist testified to the people about the
coming of Jesus. “He came for testimony, to testify to the
light, so that all might believe through him. He was not the
light, but he came to testify to the light.” There is a feeling
of rejoicing in having the freedom to give testimony to God’s
presence. Likewise, St. John the Baptist invited the people
to freedom by calling them to recognize their sins, to repent
and be baptized so that they too might experience true joy
in their lives.
Lastly, St. Paul was telling the people of Thessalonica to
rejoice always. How? “By praying without ceasing and giving
thanks to God, for this is the will of God for you in Christ
Jesus.” Indeed, there is rejoicing in the freedom to pray un-
ceasingly and being grateful to God at all circumstances.
Thus, Rejoice! The Lord is near. He will surely come and
bless us with freedom. Freedom from sin and evil. Freedom
from the influence of the world. Freedom to give witness to
God’s presence. Freedom to pray unceasingly and give
thanks to God. Freedom leads us to inner joy.

CARES ACT BENEFITS CHARITABLE GIVING Here is some great news about how your
donation to your parish can benefit the par-
ish. Under Congress’ recent CARES Act you
may be allowed to take an itemized charita-
ble deduction for up to 100% of your adjust-
ed gross income for gifts to qualified chari-
ties. Consult your tax advisor about how to
make the most of your gift to the Parish or
other non-profit organizations. Thank you for
all your support.
WAYS TO REMEMBERR LOVED ONES
Hang a Christmas stocking containing lots
of memories of your loved one.
Light a candle in your loved one’s memory.
Donate to a charity, or donate your time to
help those less fortunate than you.
Hang a special ornament on your Christ-
mas tree in their memory.
Cook your loved one’s favorite meal and
think of them while you are eating it.
Share your memories with friends and
family, and get them to share theirs too.
You may learn things that you didn’t know
about your loved one.
Write a story or a poem as a tribute to
your loved one.
SPECIAL COLLECTION FOR TYPHOON RELIEF The Archdiocese of Caceres, Naga City, Philippines, was greatly affected and
devastated by three consecutive strong typhoons that happened in October and
November this year.
Typhoon Quinta (International Name Molave) October 24, 2020
Typhoon Rolly (International Name Goni) October 31, 2020
Typhoon Ullyses (International Name Vamco) November 10, 2020
Due to strong winds and
heavy rains brought by these
typhoons, low land areas
were flooded, landslides
occurred, agricultural prod-
ucts were destroyed, and
many houses were damaged
while others were totally de-
stroyed. In fact, hundreds of
families lost their houses
and livelihood. People were
truly devastated.
The Archdiocese of
Caceres is doing its best to help the people. Parish churches and halls are being
used as temporary shelters or evacuation centers. Parishes are starting different
initiatives to help people with their basic needs of food and shelter.
It will take time before people can fully recover from this devastation. The
Archdiocese will continue to help people. In order to sustain their efforts, Arch-
bishop Rolly Tirona humbly appealed to the Diocese of Green Bay for support.
Bishop David Ricken assured him of our prayers and financial aid through the
Catholic Foundation of the Diocese of Green Bay. It is for this reason that he is
asking all the parishes in the Diocese of Green Bay to have a special collection.
The second collection for St. James, Holy Trinity All Saints, and St. Mary’s will
be December 19 and 20. At St. Joseph, it will be taken on December 26 and 27.
Your support in this humble appeal is very much appreciated. God bless us all.

CHURCH
RESTORATION Phase One of the
church restoration is
complete. To date,
$113,800 has been
donated. We continue
to accept donations of any size to help com-
plete the project. Simply mail your donation to
All Saints Parish at 145 St. Claude St., Den-
mark, WI 54208 or place it in a clearly
marked envelope in the collection basket at
Mass. Thank you!
2021 CALENDARS Calendars for the new year are available in both church entrances. Thank you
to Cotter Funeral Home for their donation and support of our parish!
CHRISTMAS CARDS FOR THE HOMEBOUND Join All Saints Christian Mothers/Altar Society in sending
Christmas cheer to our homebound parishioners. Sign
cards or make some and put them in their own envelopes
and then drop them off at the church entrances or Parish
Office by December 20th. Sign each card with All Saints Par-
ish and then your name. The cards will be addressed and
mailed by the Christian Mothers. This would be a great Advent family project!
We hope to collect enough cards so each of our homebound parishioners re-
ceive several Christmas greetings from our parish family!
CHRISTMAS FLOWERS We are accepting donations for Christmas flowers through Dec.
15. If you would like to make a donation in memory of a loved
one or for a special intention, please place it in a clearly marked
envelope in the collection basket at Mass or mail it to the Parish
Office. Thank you for helping us decorate our church for Christmas!
DECK THE HALLS Help us decorate our church for Christmas after the 10:30am Mass on Dec.

Vogel at 863-6586.
UPLIFTING THE SOUL All parish households are encouraged to take a copy of the book
titled, I Heard God Laugh by Matthew Kelly located in the side
entrance of church. Nurture your soul this holiday season and
learn to focus on what really matters in life! The books are a gen-
erous and special Christmas gift from the Tony and Barb Loritz
Family – thank you for this gift to our parishioners!
KEEP IN TOUCH If you know of someone who is homebound or ill and needs some attention
from our parish, please call the parish office so we can reach out to them. We

ALL S AINTS SCHOOL
TURKEY ANYONE? Did everyone have their share
of turkey over Thanksgiving?
Just before Thanksgiving break
at our school, our 4K students
showed just how hungry they
were through an art project.
Given the printed body and
feathers of a turkey, students
were asked to create a turkey
with any medium they wanted.
Their visions were turned into
the realities you see in the
photos. What beautiful turkeys!

break, students learned virtually to watch for possible Covid-19
