Mark your calendars for International Day! February 8th will start off with a real treat!
The children will get to hear live bagpipes as they enter the school! Assemblies will be at 8:30 for K5
thru 2nd grades, and 9:30 for 3rd thru 5th grades. This year we are planning some interactive things
for the children. They will learn how to say a few things in foreign languages. A performance by Greek
dancers and another performance representing Africa!
There will be a world map on display where everyone is encouraged to place a sticker on foreign
countries they have lived in or visited.
We are in need of some ethnic dishes. If you can help out please go to the PTA Website on the Volun-
teer page to sign-up to bring in a dish. http://pelhamrdpta.my-pta.org
We also will need some volunteers to help out in different classrooms with ongoing activities and pro-
jects. You can check with your Teacher or Homeroom Parent to see what their classroom volunteer
needs are.
Lunch will be provided by Palmetto Fine Foods for the volunteers.
Children will be eating lunch in classrooms as the cafeteria will be closed for the day. A bag lunch will
be offered from the cafeteria.
We will have a blast while we learn something new.
If you would like more information about International Day or would like to see how you can help,
please email Sue Skenteris at [email protected].

ALSO, if your email address has changed within the last month or two, please send Michele your new address.

Jump Rope for Heart will be held the week of February 11th - 15th during the student's PE class time.
Through Jump Rope For Heart kids learn jump rope skills, how their heart works and raise money to help
kids with special hearts. Have fun, learn how to stay healthy and make a difference in the lives of others!
Please join us this year! It's even more fun, you can personalize a jump rope e-card and show off your
jump roping skills! Go to www.heart.org/jump to register your student for this event!
Our school earns incentives by just registering students on the website and sending a minimum of 15
emails out to family and friends asking for any donation amount! If 100 people send 15 emails, our
school earns $100. If another 100 people send out another 15 emails, that's another $100 for our school!!
In 2011, our school didn't obtain a ranking in the state level but did rank at 17th at the county level for
most money earned.
In 2012, our school ranked 17th in the state and #1 in the county.
In 2012, we raised $6,714 for The American Heart Association!!
Our 2013 goal is to earn $8000.
As of January 20th, there were 19 registered students on the website with $690 total raised for our team.
To also help us reach our goal, Hearts will be sold
the week of January 28th each morning in the Grand Hall.
Little Hearts will be sold for $1 and Big Hearts for $5.
The week of our event, February 11th through the 15th, look for buckets going through the carline for any
additional donations!
Thank you for your support!
Coach Hobbs
Please Note: Every Student will participate in Jump Rope For Heart
regardless if they raise money or not.
