ANTHONY FRITZ
This past year as Worthy Chief Counselor really
opened my eyes to world of leadership. Having originally
been elected Vice Counselor, then appointed the position
due to the departure of a Brother, I had a good amount of
things put on me all at once. With the help of past WCC
Alex Seminara and the Office of Student Affairs, I was able
to be brought up to speed and begin leading our chapter
into the future. My main goal as president was to continue
the path towards having a closer brotherhood and getting
everyone together more often. Although it is hard for many
of the older guys to always be around given classes/
rotation, I feel that turnouts at events and just general “bro”
time was very good this year.
This year also featured a ChEQ visit from Brothers
Jennifer Esch and JD Faulkner. During their visit, they
spoke with our Advisors, University faculty and staff, as
well as all officers of the Fraternity. We spoke about what
we can do as a Brotherhood to further advance our success as a chapter and work towards
winning the Thurston Cup. I feel like we came up with many good ideas as to doing more
small health screenings and other small community service projects to add to our already great
line up of events.
Over all my experience this past
year as president was one of the best op-
portunities I have ever been presented
with. It allowed me to become more fa-
miliar with the pharmacy faculty as well
as other members of the ONU staff. I
learned many invaluable skills that I will
be able to take with me in the future as a
pharmacist. This brotherhood was an ab-
solute pleasure to lead and I wish all the
best to our new WCC Billy Maiden.

As always, we had another successful year of Rush which
concluded in the induction of five new Brothers on December 10,
2010. These new Brothers included Emerson Babington, Nikolas
Beatty, Nic Jantzen, Gavin Klaus, and Corey Lotridge. The rush
season started with the first week of school and consisted of our
most popular event, the volleyball cookout. At the cookout, phar-
macy guys would come over to the Chapter House to relax with the
Brothers, eat some food, and play volleyball and corn hole. Other
common events consisted of pickup soccer, football, and basketball
games, all of which allowed for the freshmen rushes to come out,
meet the Brothers, and find out what Phi Delta Chi is all about.
This fall, our chapter also started branching out more
with new Rush events in hopes of attracting a wider variety of
guys to our fraternity, and overall, the Brotherhood feels that
these events did just that. To mention a few of the new events,
we held a BW3’s night, a bowling night, a Halo tournament,
and an OSU vs. Michigan night where the guys came over to
watch the game on our big screens. As a Fraternity, we hope to
continue our expansion with new and incoming ideas from re-
cently initiated brothers as well as looking to the wisdom of our
older Brothers.

WORTHY KEEPER OF RECORDS AND SEALS

CHRIS LEWIS
From my time as the Worthy Keeper of Records and
Seals has made me a better person in many ways. First off,
I've had to learn to become more prepared to stand up for
the ideals that I believe should run our Fraternity. Second,
and most important, I've realized how imperative it is to
work in groups, to complete projects in a timely manner.
With this office recently taking over the responsibility of
Standards of Excellence for the University, it is a quick re-
alization that there is an immense amount of work that is
put in by every Brother, which often goes unnoticed. If not
for the unity of our Brotherhood, I can say that deadlines
would not be met.

WORTHY KEEPER OF FINANCE
O FF ICER REPO RTS A L L EY O OP
MATT HAJEC
This past year during my term as Worthy
Keeper of Finance, I took responsibility of collect-
ing and then distributing the funds we, as a chapter,
collected. Our budget this year included funds col-
lected from dues, fundraisers, and from budget ap-
propriations from the university. Our budget was
smaller this year than in years past, but we were
able to make due by shifting our budget around.
Fortunately, we were still able to participate in all
of our normal activities, on and off of campus. It
was tough deciding which portions of our budget to
trim down, but I feel that my committee and I were
very successful in allocating the funds to where
they were needed most. Within our budget, we
planned for our annual Spring Formal and Health Screening, as well as on campus events such
as Greek Week.
One of our biggest expenses was once again our annual Spring Formal, which we held
in Newport, Kentucky this year, shifting from the venue we had used in Columbus the past two
years. I think the brotherhood enjoyed the change in venue, and it also helped us stay within
our tightened budget. Throughout this year, I had the chance to work with the other officers
who, like the rest of our brotherhood, were an exceptional group of men to work with. The
changing dynamic of Greek Life at Ohio Northern was the main challenge that we faced this
year, but the officers and the rest of our chapter came together and were able to turn a chal-
lenging year into an enjoyable one. My year as WKF taught me a great deal and I look for-
ward to my future involvement with Phi Delta
Chi.

As the outgoing WC, I am very pleased with how
the year went. We completed another successful year in
the Achievement Award program in the 2009-2010 cam-
paign, earning yet another Loving Cup, and with another
successful May 2011 report by our new WC Nic Jantzen,
we will obtain another one. Along with keeping up good
communications with the national office, we were able to
continue our friendly relations with our sister chapter of
Alpha Phi. Not only did we have Brothers attend their
initiation ceremony, but they sent brothers to attend ours.
We also sent a few brothers to their annual bar crawl. We
also started a new friendship with the Alpha chapter this
year. After a trip to the grave of Worthy Brother Albert Benjamin Prescott in October, many
new friendships were kindled between the Brothers of Alpha Upsilon and Alpha, and some of
them were able to attend our initiation ceremony. I am also pleased to report that we had yet
another fun and successful trip to Gatlinburg this year. We were able to reconnect with a lot of
friends from around our region and forge new friendships along the way during that weekend.
As I leave the office of WC, I would like to extend a thank you to all of the Brothers that
were able to help me with various sections of the Achievement Award Program, including typ-
ing up reports in a timely fashion and helping me coordinate and finish various projects, in-
cluding the Window Display and the Chapter Publication. If I could do it all over again, my
only wish is that I would have been able to coordinate more social events with more of the
chapters around our region. I sincerely hope that going forward, not only will our new and ca-
pable WC will do so, but that I can assist in that process. Of course, as our motto impresses
upon us, each needs the help of the other, so my job as WC will never completely be done. I
intend to continue to help with anything I can in the
future, and make sure that the office of WC contin-
ues to be a successful position for years to come.

This year, the Alpha Upsilon chapter has
continued its dedication to pharmacy profes-
sional projects. Throughout the year, Brothers
have given a presentation to local area fifth
graders about prescription drug abuse and how
to avoid abusing prescription drugs. So far, the
program has reached roughly 150 fifth graders.
We also sponsored a health care screening at
the North Cable Road Ray’s Supermarket in
Lima, Ohio. All pharmacy groups were invited
to participate; overall, we reached out to over
100 shoppers and Ray’s Supermarket workers.
Different disease states, their warning signs, and treatments, were presented to the patients as
they walked through. They could also receive a bone density screening, a blood pressure
check, and cholesterol screenings. Lastly, we held many informational sessions at Ray’s Su-
permarket stores throughout the school year, educating patients about men’s health. The Alpha
Upsilon chapter continues to advance the science of pharmacy through its professional activi-
ties.

During my first term as Worthy Alumni
Liaison, our collegiate chapter witnessed the re-
institution of the Alpha Upsilon Alumni Asso-
ciation. This was spearheaded by the efforts of
Brother Ed Chin, who is currently acting as
president of the organization. The objectives of
this association are to promote professional
meetings in the interests of the profession of
pharmacy and to assist the active Alpha Upsilon
Chapter in every way, and to promote social
contacts among the alumni of the Phi Delta Chi
Fraternity. Two $125 scholarships were generously issued by the association this year to
Brothers Cory Miller and Chad Rounds who were selected on the basis of an essay competi-
tion. Anyone interested in becoming a part of the alumni association can visit pdcalumni.com
to get involved.
This past year, our alumni were invited to the annual formals dinner in Columbus, Ohio
and to a cookout at the chapter house during homecoming weekend. With the reestablishment
of the alumni association, we look to further the interactions between collegiate and alumni
brothers, both socially and professionally. As I continue into my second term as Worthy
Alumni Liaison, I hope to see an increase in the relations between our alumni and collegiate
brothers, as we are all Brothers for Life.

After pledging, I felt that the best way for
me to help continue the tradition of excellence
of Phi Delta Chi was to become the Worth Mas-
ter at Arms. In this position, I could take every-
thing that I had learned during my pledging ex-
perience and pass it on to our future brothers. It
was my goal as WMA to make the pledging
process as enjoyable and rewarding as possible,
while passing along the teachings of the frater-
nity. I believe that both classes I was responsi-
ble for excelled in learning the fraternity’s his-
tory and the standards that make Phi Delta Chi
what it is. I believe my greatest success as
WMA was showing the pledges that regardless
of age we are all brothers and will always be brothers. To do this, I explained to the pledges
the hardships my pledge class went through due to the age gap and stressed the importance of
becoming close friends with your pledge brothers as these men will likely be your closest
friends during your time in college and even after graduation. However, I would have never
been able to accomplish bringing the pledges together without the help of the rest of the frater-
nity; being able to watch the brothers interact with each other on a daily basis greatly rein-
forced everything that I had emphasized and inspired them to really become closer. I greatly
enjoyed my time as WMA and can only hope that it was as enjoyable for my pledges (Dan Ja-
novick, Nick Manion, Nikolas Beatty, Nic Jantzen, Corey Lotridge, Gavin Klaus and Emerson
Babington) and would like to thank all of my
brothers for all the help they gave me during my
term as WMA.

This year our brotherhood has been the closest it has been in a long time, in social
terms. We were able to hold many social events that were both planned and spontaneous. We
held our annual social with Alpha Xi Delta for Halloween, and another with Delta Zeta for
Christmas. Kappa Epsilon also came to enjoy the Browns/Steelers game in the Fall, along
with a BroBQ this Spring, in between all the rain. There were many gatherings among Broth-
ers and this led to many stories, nicknames, and some embarrassment for all involved. This
year fundraising was difficult, as the University enacted new policies for shirt designs and
school logos. After have extreme difficulty in getting people to volunteer last year the Broth-
erhood seems ready to go this coming year, to help raise more money for St. Judes.

Dearest Phi Delts,
Where do I even begin? Over the past two years that I've known you boys, I've been so
lucky to form such great and lasting friendships with so many of you. We've shared lots of
wonderful memories, and had some really great experiences - and I'm confident that over the
next few years, there will definitely be more to come :)
I want to thank you for letting me have the honor of being your Sweetheart, because it has
really meant so much to me. I'm so proud to be able to say, I'm Sweetheart to such a great
group of men - because you guys are truly the best on campus! Thank you for always being
there for me, whether its a smiling face or a great big hug, and for being so much fun! I know I
can always count on you all to be supportive of my Theta sisters, and of our philanthropic
events.
I wish you all the best that life has to offer, and look forward to our next few years to-
gether :)

FEATURED SOCIAL
EVENT
This year our annual Spring Formal was held at BB Riverboats in Newport, Kentucky.
Newport is just across the Ohio River from Cincinnati, and was a change of venue from Co-
lumbus, where we had been at the Crowne Plaza hotel for the past two years. While the
weather didn’t completely cooperate with us, all the Brothers and their dates had a great time.
We had around 65 people in attendance this year, which included brothers, their dates, our ad-
visor, Dr. David Kinder, as well as a few alumni. Two of our alumni, Ed Chin and Zack
Schrensky, presented the Active Brother Scholarship to Cory Miller and Chad Rounds, as rep-
resentatives of the Alumni Chapter.
The night began with dinner and music and opened up for dancing after everyone’s ap-
petites had been sated. We also presented our annual awards where Ed Chin received Alumni
of the Year for his outstanding
work recently with the develop-
ment of our Alumni Chapter.
The party favor for this year
was a customized flask with the
Phi Delta Chi Crest adorning it. I
think everyone enjoyed the riv-
erside venue, and overall I be-
lieve the brotherhood would call
this year’s Formals a success.

2010-2011 HIGHLIGHTS
Our chapter decided to visit the Al-
pha chapter as a part of our fall pledging
process, in addition to celebrating Foun-
ders’ Day. We traveled to the University
of Michigan on October 29th to help them
clean the grave of Albert Prescott, our
first Honorary Brother. We had a won-
derful time getting to know the Alpha
Chapter Members and Pledges; we hope
to continue this tradition into the future.

To kick off the year, the Greek Life com-
munity sponsors Greekapalooza, a picnic for the
freshmen. During the picnic, each Greek chapter
sponsors various activities as a way to meet and
greet potential rushes. This year, we sponsored a
home run derby. From the people we met at
Greekapalooza, we began to figure out who our
potential rushes are and how to best reach out to
them. It was a great start to a great year.

Our spring social this year was with the
Kappa Alpha Theta sorority in March. The
theme for the social was “Minute to Win It.”
Each of the Brothers paired with a Theta, and
we played various games in a single-
elimination bracket to determine the winners.
Everyone had a great time; we made some
great memories and some great friends.

presented to patients about common diseases and other health problems. Brothers informed
patients of what they could do to treat these diseases. We also had blood pressure screenings,
bone density scanners, and cholesterol screenings. We reached several shoppers and workers
at Ray’s Supermarket, and we hope to continue this event in the future.

FEATURED FUNDRAISER
The Brothers of Phi Delta Chi were very pleased with the success of the First Annual
Spaghetti Dinner for St. Jude’s, as we were able to raise about $360.00 for charity. However,
in order to make it happen, a great deal of preparation was necessary. First, the sauce needed
to be made. Over the course of the week beforehand, I made 6 batches of my homemade spa-
ghetti sauce, each of which took roughly 5 hours to make. After reserving the Affinity Dining
Hall for the event, more than half of the Brothers of Phi Delta Chi donated their time to help
make this event possible, doing things like cooking up spaghetti noodles and garlic bread, set-
ting up the room, donating supplies, helping serve the food, and staying after to help clean up.
I would also like to extend a thank you to the Sisters of Kappa Alpha Theta for allowing
us to use their kitchen and their kitchen supplies before and during the dinner, to the ONU Ath-
letic Department for lending us a cooler for the drinks, and to Community Market and Ray’s
Supermarket for making generous donations to the cause. Without all of the help I received
from the aforementioned groups and people, this event would not have been possible. We
hope with more advertis-
ing and prior planning,
this event will be even
more successful in 2012.
