TAP/BALLET This tap/ballet class introduces children to the basics of both ballet and tap, combin-ing creative movement, grace and balance. Students learn basic tap steps such as shuffles, rhythm exercises, and springs. Elementary ballet including plies, tendus, passes, and the basic ballet positions. Parents may stay for the first 10 minutes of class and are invited back at the end of program for a class demonstration. Sug-gested attire: Comfortable clothes or leotards, tights and tutus. GUITAR-INTERMEDIATE GUITAR ENSEMBLE Intermediate Guitar Ensemble is a class designed for students who have already completed Intro to Guitar or have similar playing experience and seek a way to keep playing and developing their skills. Intermediate guitarists will have a chance to practice and perform a set of songs in various musical styles in a guitar ensemble (band of guitars). Students will also have an opportunity to perform and improve solo pieces they may be currently working on. DOG OBEDIENCE Students learn to train their dogs to heel, sit, stay, down stay, stand for examination, recall and socialize. Owners learn to problem solve and care for their dogs. Spring Break Camp Week ( April 13 - 17, 2015) (9:00AM - 3:00PM) Come and join staff for a fun filled week of exciting games, challenging sports, and creative arts projects. Campers are required to provide their own lunch and water everyday. A newsletter, listing the week’s activities and trip information will be distributed the first day of camp. After camp care will feature low key art and recreation activities. We want to make this camp enjoyable for you and your child. Spring Break Camp Extended Care (April 13 - 17, 2015) (3:00PM - 6:00PM) Extended care is a great option for working parents. After camp each day, Participants will have time to relax in a supervised comfortable environment. Long term art projects and low key recreation activities will be provided. Each child will have to bring a snack unless instructed otherwise. Sessions that do not reach the minimum number of participants are subject to cancellation.

ADULT BASKETBALL (COMPETITIVE AND RECREATION) Adult Basketball features (2) different leagues based on skill level. CAMPS CALIFORNIA GREAT AMERICA TEEN WEEK (NEW) Sign-up for this camp and get a SEASON PASS for the year at California Great America!!!!! Ride all the different roller coasters including the tallest and fastest wooden coaster in Northern California the Gold Striker. The campers will have the opportunity to do activities and learn the reality of what happens on multiple - G rides and apply the physics they've been learn-ing during the school year. WACKY ROBOTS & WIDGETS Whether your child loves to build things or destroy them, this week of camp includes lots of both! The junior Mad Science engineers will design and build structures using simple tools and their imaginations. Campers will even construct a geodesic dome big enough for all of them to sit inside. Then the machine madness starts. Children will discover how different machines, simple and complex, are used in our daily lives. CAMPS SPY ACADEMY Look out 007 - the Mad Science Spy Academy is here! From message decoding to metal detectors and night vision, campers will have the opportunity to check out spy equipment and even create their own edible message. Step into the shoes of a detective as you uncover the science involved in evidence gathering and analysis. Figure out the science of forensics in a hands-on look at crime scenes. Become a super spy and learn clever ways of performing tasks as we take a hands-on view of the science that spies use. The take-homes for this camp were designed by "Q" himself. SOCCER CAMP Spend a week enjoying the world's most popular sport in a fun, recreational environ-ment. Learn and practice soccer skills including: dribbling, passing, receiving and shooting. Individual skill building and team play are both included with the week culminating in an age appropriate "World Cup" tournament. Campers will receive a soccer ball and a KLS Soccer Jersey. SKYHAWKS-TENNIS CAMP In Skyhawks Sports tennis programs, players learn proper grips, footwork, strokes, volleys and serves during a series of drills designed to teach skills in a fun and dynamic way. Athletes also learn the rules and etiquette that make tennis an exciting game. Due to limited court space, these programs fill quickly. All participants receive a t-shirt and a merit award. FITNESS CENTER POLICIES

LATE PICKUP POLICY

The San Jose Department of Parks, Recreation, and Neighborhood Services wants to ensure the safety and well-being of every participant. Participants must be picked up at the scheduled class end time. If, after five minutes, a participant is not picked up, we may charge $1.00 per participant for every minute thereafter. All fees must be paid prior to the participant returning to class. We understand that emergencies may happen. If you have an emergency and are unable to pick up on time, please contact the community center.

SAN JOSE RECREATION PRESCHOOL Please consider the following policies and requirements before registering for a San Jose Recreation Preschool class: Requirements for a parent participation, volunteer, snack, etc varies by center. Teacher to child ration is 1:10 or better. Participants must be toilet trained by the first day of program. Non-registered children are not allowed in the class at any time. Please make arrangements for siblings on your participation day. A birth certificate may be requested for age confirmations. The City of San Jose, Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services provide recreational programs ONLY and not licensed childcare. After reaching the class capacity your child can be put on a waitlist. If spot becomes available at any SJ Recreation Preschool center, you will

receive a call and be given the option to enroll at that center or to stay on the waiting list. Monthly payment plan is available, with auto-pay on the 20th of each month. A valid credit card must be on file for auto-pay option.

LITTLE LEARNERS Children will be introduced to socialization, positive self-esteem, following directions and simple learning concepts. Children will work on hand eye coordination, motor skills, and gain independence through the use of circle time, music, songs, stories, play and arts and crafts. Food will be provided for cooking activities and may be provided for special events. Children must be fully potty trained before the start of class. KINDERPREP This class prepares your child for kindergarten with age-appropriate activities, learning concepts, socialization skills and fun. Your child will gain a basic understanding of shapes, colors and pre-phonics and literacy building (i.e. identifying letter sounds, and writing the alphabet and simple words), as well as number recognition, and counting up to 30. The goal is to have fun, participate and learn. Children must be fully potty trained be-fore the start of class. 50+ ACTIVE ADULTS The Almaden Community Center offers a variety of classes and programs for adults who are 50+! If you are looking for a more casual setting and the ability to interact with people who have similar interests, the programs for active adults offer a wide range of possibilities. You can brush up on your painting, learn how to play new card games, or step into some new dance skills while enjoying the company of those around you! All of our classes and programs are printed monthly in our Senior Newsletter which can be found at the front desk.
