It will do this by untangling metropolitan and regional tracks as they travel through Melbourne’s west into the heart of the city. Dedicated regional tracks are being built from West Werribee Junction to Deer Park, then along the existing rail corridor from Sunshine to Southern Cross Station. When complete, passengers on the Geelong, Bendigo and Ballarat lines will have a streamlined journey through the metropolitan system. Regional Rail Link will create capacity for an extra 23 metropolitan and 10 regional services during each morning and evening peak period – this means capacity for an additional 54,000 passenger trips each day. Saturday 26 – Sunday 27 April

On the Werribee line, buses will stop at stations between Newport and North Melbourne, except South Kensington. If you are travelling to the city, express buses will depart from Newport for North Melbourne via Footscray.

On the Williamstown line, buses will stop at stations between Williamstown and North Melbourne, including South Kensington. If you are travelling to North Melbourne or into the city, you can change at Newport for a limited express bus to North Melbourne via Footscray.

Alternatively change at Footscray for a Sunbury line train into the city.

If you are travelling from the city, take any train to North Melbourne and change to a stopping all stations bus to Newport via South Kensington and Footscray, or a limited express bus to Newport.

Changes to your travel.Saturday 19 April — Sunday 27 April

Sunbury, Werribee and Williamstown Lines

From the first service on Saturday 19 April until the last service on Friday 25 April, buses will replace trains on the Sunbury line between Sunbury and North Melbourne for Regional Rail Link construction works.

Until 8pm on Tuesday 22 April, Wednesday 23 April and Thursday 24 April, limited express buses will operate from Sunbury/Watergardens via Albion to Flemington Racecourse connecting with trains into the city.

On the weekend Saturday and Sunday 26–27 April, buses will replace trains on the Werribee line between Newport and North Melbourne and on the Williamstown line between Williamstown and North Melbourne.

While these lines are closed, a significant amount of work will be undertaken at Footscray and Sunshine stations, on bridges and grade separations, as well as track and signalling works to help improve future reliability of your service.

Do I still have to touch on and touch off with my myki?

You can touch on and touch off with your myki at railway stations as you would normally.

It is important that you use the station myki machines to touch on and touch off once each journey; touch on at the first railway station you use then touch off at the last station. Myki readers are available at Flemington Racecourse Station at each end of the platform

You do not need to touch on or off on replacement buses.

Can I take my bike on the bus?

Unfortunately, due to safety regulations bikes are not permitted on board replacement buses, unless they are folding bikes. If you are travelling with a regular bike, please see assistance of customer services staff at replacement bus stops.

What about accessibility for people with a disability travelling during the line closures?

Customer service staff will be on hand at replacement bus stops to assist those with specific needs at the following stations on the Sunbury line: Sunbury, Watergardens, St Albans, Albion, Flemington Racecourse, Sunshine, Tottenham, West Footscray, Middle Footscray, Footscray and North Melbourne.

During the weekend 26–27 April, customer service staff will attend replacement bus stops at Williamstown Beach, North Williamstown, Newport, Spotswood, Yarraville, Seddon, Footscray, South Kensington and North Melbourne.

Remember:• Journey times may be extended by up to 35 minutes.

• V/Line will replace trains with coach services between Bendigo and Southern Cross Station, with only a restricted stop at Sunbury Station, dropping off and collecting V/Line customers. Sunbury customers are advised to catch a Metro express replacement bus via Flemington Racecourse. This is the quickest way into the city.

• Detailed timetable information for other Metro lines is available at the Public Transport Victoria website at ptv.vic.gov.au or by calling 1800 800 007 (6am–midnight daily).

• Customer service staff will be available at replacement bus stops to assist you with travel during this time. Should you have special needs and require emergency assistance press the red button on the information console on the station platform.

Saturday 19 April (Easter Saturday); Sunday 20 April (Easter Sunday); Monday 21 April (Easter Monday – Saturday timetable); Friday 25 April (Anzac Day)

If you are travelling to North Melbourne or CBD stations you can take a stopping all stations bus from Sunbury then from Albion an express bus to North Melbourne.

Also departing Albion are buses stopping all stations to North Melbourne via Footscray. From North Melbourne you can take a train into the city.

If you are travelling from the city, take any train to North Melbourne then change to an express bus for stations beyond Albion, or a bus stopping all stations to Albion.

Tuesday 22 April – Thursday 24 April to 8:00pm

If you are travelling to North Melbourne or CBD stations you can take a limited express bus from Sunbury, stopping at Watergardens and Albion, to Flemington Racecourse Station from where you can take a train into the city via the City Loop.

Departing Albion and Sunshine are express buses to Flemington Racecourse Station. Also departing from Albion are buses stopping all stations to Footscray, from where you can connect to a train into the city.

If you are travelling from the city to stations beyond Sunshine, take a special train to Flemington Racecourse to connect with a bus to Sunbury/Watergardens via Albion. Alternatively, take a train to Footscray and change to a stopping all stations bus to Albion.

Tuesday 22 April – Thursday 24 April after 8:00pm

If you are travelling to North Melbourne or CBD stations you can take a stopping all stations bus from Sunbury/Watergardens to Albion which runs express to North Melbourne Station from where you can take a train into the city.

Also departing from Albion are buses stopping all stations to North Melbourne, from where you can connect to a train into the city.

If you are travelling from the city, take any train to North Melbourne then change to an express bus for stations beyond Albion or a bus stopping all stations to Albion via Footscray.
