I want to officially welcome you to Altoona! This Community Guide is a library of information on our local businesses. As you flip the pages you’ll discover the people we call family and neighbors. Inside our town we welcome you to places

of worship, spots to relax with friends, and products/services that enhance your quality of life. I’m excited for you as you discover everything Altoona has to offer. Go ahead, take this copy, it’s our gift to you!

We are well into another productive year. Our mission statement is “Providing Opportunity, Encouraging Growth” and Wow!, the growth in 2012 is amazing! For starters:

Prairie Meadows opened a brand new 168 room hotel in March. As a guest you are virtually steps away from the action.

There’s a “wave” of excitement over at Adventureland! Iowa’s largest wave pool is opening this summer providing 25,000 sq. feet of splashtastic fun.

Go “have a ball” at the new SpringCreek Recreation Center. It features 8 natural surface playing fields and 1 synthetic field already striped for soccer and football.

There is much to enjoy outdoors. We offer 19 miles of trails within our city limits, 200+ acres of recreational space for our

soccer and baseball/softball clubs, an aquatic center and numerous parks filled with beautiful flora, fauna, and larger than life creatures! Of course, no outdoor adventure is complete without first stocking up on the latest clothing and accessories at Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World.

When you need a break, come indoors to sample our local flare. Our shops and businesses reflect a desire for superb quality and down-home service. Visitors, roughly 5 million annually, have made Altoona, Iowa’s Entertainment Capital, and it’s easy to see why.

Prairie MeadowsPrairie Meadows offers live thoroughbred,
