Greetings from Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine (GSDM). We hope that you can join us for Alumni Weekend 2010. We have a lot of great activities planned and look forward to welcoming you back to campus! Listed below are Alumni Weekend activities that we think you may be interested in. 7 p.m.Howard Zinn Lecture SeriesFeaturing Bill MoyersEnjoy an illuminating presentation by veteran broadcast journalist and political commentator Bill Moyers, who has been recognized, during his forty-year career, as one of the unique voices of his generation. Location: George Sherman Union, Metcalf Hall, 775 Commonwealth Ave. (Charles River Campus) The Howard Zinn Lecture Series is made possible by a generous gift from Alex MacDonald, Esq. (CAS’72), and Maureen A. Strafford, MD (MED’76).

7 to 10 p.m. GSDM Alumni Reception Reconnect will fellow GSDM alums and their guests as you recount your favorite dental school memories and share your personal and professional successes since graduation. The reception will feature the presentation of the Special Dean’s Awards and Alumni Awards. This year’s winners of the Special Dean’s Award are Dr. Celeste Kong, Dr. John Guarente, Mr. Timothy McDonough, and Dr. Ronni Schnell. This year’s winners of the Alumni Award are Paula Friedman MSD’88, MPH’00; Raymond George Sr. ORTHO’66; and Fahard Al-Harbi PROS’00, MSD’01, DScD’05.Cost: $75.00 Location: Four Seasons Hotel Boston Govenors Room, 2nd Floor, 200 Boylston St.

8 a.m. to 5:15 p.m.Gianelly/Schilder Symposium on Orthodontic and Endodontic Excellence The second day of this two-day Symposium will feature an Orthodontic Program honoring the late Dr. Anthony Gianelly. Participants will earn 7 CEUs per day. Cost: $236 for one program, $400 for both programs. 3:30 p.m.Personalized Medicine: Engineering, Innovation & Public Policy Third Annual Future of Engineering SymposiumJoin fellow alumni to learn from Professor Jim Collins about some of the latest advances in personalizing treatments—and for a thought-provoking discussion about how personalized medicine will impact the future of healthcare from a technology, medicine, and policy perspective.
