Air pollution

Air pollution is the introduction of material in the atmosphere and the contamination of air by smoke and harmful gasses, biological materials, surfur and nitrogen.

Air pollution includes : exhaust fumes from vehicles, radiation spills or nuclear accidents, smoke from cigarettes, metals, carbon monoxide.

Air pollution is changeable and there are many different air pollutants contributing to it. Once pollutants are released into the air, they interact with each other and the environment in complex ways depending on temperature, humidity and other environmental conditions.

Pollutants can be categorised into two groups:

• Primary pollutants – which come from human processes

• Secondary pollutants – which are from the interaction of primary pollutants with the atmosphere

Air pollution is a substance in the air that can have adverse effects on humans and the ecosystem. It causes allergies, infections… The effects of air pollution depend on the type of pollution and the person exposed to it.

Air pollution has killed many people, animals and plants in the years. Scientists are trying to find a solution to reduce pollution in the air for example: electric cars, gas emission reduction …
